2-3 sets of 15-30 before starting things like squatting or leg pressing works well

My knee is crunching very loud when doing this. Is this from an imbalance issue?
@AllStrengthTraining2 жыл бұрын
I would make sure that your knee is staying over your big toe if you're looking from above and not caving in or bowing out. Do you have an injury history on the knee?
@ancientdiscoverys2 жыл бұрын
@@AllStrengthTraining ..never had an injury but last month I noticed my knee creaking going upstairs so my doctor ordered x-rays and MRI. MRI showed a little freyed edges of petella. I have no pain but the crunchy noise is worrying me. Does this sound like a weak vmo that's causing this ?
@AllStrengthTraining2 жыл бұрын
@@ancientdiscoverys hard to say as diagnosing something like that is pretty far out of the scope of a trainer on the internet. What I do know is that most joints are going to show some level of degeneration in an MRI just based on natural wear, but things that would be worth ruling out would be pronation of the foot and valgus collapse of the knee. If it's possible to get somebody to do a gait assessment on you that would probably be helpful. A weak VMO could be leading to some caving of the knee during things like squatting and lunging as well as just in everyday activity so that may be part of it, but there's no promise it would completely resolve everything

how often can people do the Peterson step up? I am struggling to get past parallel with pistol squats and i believe knee instability is a major reason.
@AllStrengthTraining10 жыл бұрын
Reasonably often - keep the volume low and you could probably do 1-2 sets on a daily basis. The weaker something is, the more often you can train it. As you get better at it, decrease the frequency and just do 2-4 sets maybe 1-2 days per week as part of your regular training program.

@@AllStrengthTraining Doctor did an MRI and said I have no cartilage left and I’m bone on bone. Doctor said I was youngest patient he seen with such bad knees. But I was way too young for a knee replacement. I have been on a 3 yr journey of loosing 70lbs and weight lifting and walking. But my knees just give out with no warning

Man- it would be better if you demonstrate the exercise and then a very brief and focussed run down on technique. And that’s it. It’s too much talk for an exercise which could be explained in 3 sentences.

I mean I get what you're saying, but with this video being almost 15 years old it sort of feels like someone giving me a grade on one of my high school projects when I'm 40
