For a travel kit, many factors come into play like weight, volume, redundancy, and fit. At this time I've settled on a LENCENT International Travel Power Adapter that has USB A (can of course accept a male USB A to C adapter) and USB C ports. I generally don't use these ports unless I have the rare occasion of charging a lot of devices relatively quickly. Paired with this adapter (which is compact and only 2.7oz!), is my 45W Anker 313 (45W0. This is enough juice to power most laptops. I currently rock a Microsoft Surface Go (about time to upgrade). I thought a lighter, 30W adapter would be enough, but not with the lossy USB C dongle I pair with it. I use the 2oz dongle to give me more charging ports. Finally, I use a 10ft, 60W, USB C cable. I love having the flexibility to work wherever I want in a room and not be limited by power outlet placement. I can "slow charge" my phone off the dongle while working and also power my laptop/tablet and phone while in bed with this flexibility. If the 45W Anker 313 were to fail, the 20W port on the Lecent travel adapter will power my Surface Go if I power it directly w/out the dongle (lossy), and of course, I can still charge my phone and earbuds from this device. If the Lecent were to fail, I can run to a store to fine a basic plug converter to plug the Anker 313 into. Also, there are lower overall weight options out there, but they generally are a all-in-one solution that if it were to fail I would be SOL while on the road, and are weird form factors that are too tall or wide, taking up multiple power outlets on the wall which is generally not an option or frowned upon in your average hostel. Also, like your Satchi, they have proprietary adapters that if lost would render my charger useless. Anyway, this is how I'm getting it done on the road. Keep the reviews coming!
@AllThingsOnePlace
@AllThingsOnePlace 7 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing! Yeah, that is not a bad setup. It does go to show how many options there are available now. How long did it take to get your setup figured out and working? OR, was it all first try and good?

So I made a mistake and bought this thinking it was the one you recommended in the other video, as the 165W one doesn’t seem available for sale anymore on my Amazon page. Was a terrible surprise when I found out it couldn’t super fast charge my Samsung, let alone SFC 2.0. I am going to try to return it, but I’m worried I can’t do it because I already threw the shipping box away (that’s how much trust I have in you lol). Now I really need a travel (or at least portable) charger to end all chargers. Preferably 4 USB C ports minimum, with over 100W for Samsung Tab S9, iPad Pro, iPhone and maybe a laptop or steam deck.

Apple has sold a "World Travel Adapter Kit" for YEARS (I've had one since 2018, maybe 2017) that works with their Macbook Pro power blocks. They all have a plug that "pops out" like this one does. It seems like this is meant to be a direct competitor/replacement for that audience. So, if you frequently travel b/w multiple countries/continents and have a Macbook and multiple USB-C devices, this would be the adapter that lives in your suitcase/travel bag. I personally use an Anker 747 and a country-specific external plug adapter for that. But I've also lived outside my home country, so my "int'l power adapter game" is more advanced than average. I'm also willing to bet that someone thought, "This is a TRAVEL adapter, not an Everyday At Your Desk adapter. So, efficiency isn't as important, since you'll only use it for limited amounts of time." Not to say that's a GOOD thought process. But I can see someone saying that.
@AllThingsOnePlace
@AllThingsOnePlace 8 ай бұрын
Yeah, that apple plug can also ground the adapter if needed. I like those. True on the efficiency, that's a valid point for sure.
@veraxis9961

Bummer that a lot of these adapters seem to be going backwards in performance rather than forwards. Maybe this is a case cost-cutting measures which drop the efficiency a couple percent and hoping the consumer won't notice, which in the case of most consumers who lack this level of technical knowledge is probably true, sadly. Here's to hoping for more good performers in the future.

All the others are either 3 port USB-C and 1 USB-A, or have a power cable that plugs into the wall. I even contacted Anker, and they said they don't have a 4 port USB-C that plugs directly into the wall, nor have anything on the horizon in the works. That is insane as USB-A is on the way out. I really like the 165W charger from Satechi, it's been around the world with me and it's more efficient than this one by considerable margin, so that's why that is still my pick, but this one doesn't have the wire. I'd probably pick up a USB A to C cable if you have to use one of the alternates and one of your devices is lower wattage if you want alternates. Hi, I recently stumbled upon your channel. Could u recommend me a charger that can super fast charge ny 2 samsung devices? Currently relying on 2 separate chargers but i feel like 1 single charger will be more organised. Also recommend you look at baseus 10000mah magsafe powerbank
@AllThingsOnePlace
@AllThingsOnePlace 8 ай бұрын
It’s harder than you think since generally anything 140 watts and down won’t do even power sharing. The anker 737 might be the only one. That isn’t something crazy like the 240 watt charger. Which will do three Samsung phones at max speed.

Hello, I'm feeling a bit confused about which charger to buy. I don't mind spending money as long as I get something that is reliable, long-lasting, and compatible with my Apple MacBook and phones. Can you suggest a charger or dock station that fits my needs? Thank you for your help.again I'm using only apple devices. by the way i wanted to send a super thanks but i couldn't send a message with the super thanks so I'm going to send one just remember that this super is from me thanks.

ah weird, well thanks, first of all. Then, yeah I understand that. I think Satechi really gears themselves towards Apple compatibility, it's really all they claim to work with. I am still a fan of the Satechi 165W adapter, US market on that one (it has high AC leakage at higher voltages). I use it with laptops, watches, phones, and other random battery chargers and it's been great. If longevity is the concern I'd just stick with Apple's adapters. That's kind of what they are known for.

I am planning to buy a powerbank that is only 10,000mAh that is just handy and lightweight for my tiny bag. Can you compare the latest 10,000mAh powerbanks of Anker, Aukey, Ugreen, etc to help me get an informed buying decision please🙏🏻 I really want to know and get the best one out there!

If it's a USB C and PD compatible power bank, the 100W Baseus charger should work fine. I'm not sure why the Samsung charger wouldn't have worked though.

I wouldn't use Satechi for myself. I have 165w charger. Sometimes it charges my Legion Go, sometimes no, cant negotiate power. Worse was my lenovo ideapad laptop, and lenovo legion 7i, no charge at all. Ugreen 200w solved this issue. Now I bough 2x300w ugreen chargers, when they was 100 quid on Ebay

Really surprised such a relatively expensive power adapter tests so bad, and misses important power modes. The included plugs are interesting to me in theory. I have an Anker model with these and have never bothered to take it out the house, as in practice my take everywhere is the Anker 100w Prime with an additional Apple 20w if travelling internationally. Modern plug adapters are pretty tiny so this works really well.

I want to ask how chargers work, so what I got right now which I don't know if its right or wrong is that if I use a 100w brick with a 5a cable and using it to charge a phone that uses a 11V and 4a fast charge it would automatically set itself to that and charge at that rate?
@AllThingsOnePlace

You do need to enable it in the phone settings for the faster charging. But yeah, the charger, if it has PPS, will work. This one doesn't so wouldn't work for that.

9V 3A (27W) mode has to work . Will phone take 12V mode (if avaiable on adapter side) or use PPS (if avaiable, 11V at 4A for that particular phone) or dedicated 11V mode (some adapters support it) - depends on exact adapter.

Unless you need 140W in one port I don't see why you should get this over the Satechi 165W. Chargers with detachable cords actually make a better travel charger than these so-called travel chargers imo

Yeah, I've been using ones with a detachable cord for over a decade now. Helps with loose outlets, recessed outlets, or outlets in inconvenient places like behind a nightstand. Hope other vendors don't copy the crap that Anker did though with a proprietary power cord.

By the way, I have question about PPS. How can I figure out what range of PPS do I need to watch to buy a charger which supports Samsung PPS? Example: Samsung 25W charge have two PPS ranges: 3.3-5.9V 3A | 3.3-11V 2.25A. An Ugreen 30W charger have one PPS range: 3.3-11V 2,7A. How do I know that the Ugreen meets the Samsung PPS in this case?
@AllThingsOnePlace
@AllThingsOnePlace 8 ай бұрын
Volts times Amps is Power, so 5.9*3 = 17.7W, so this wouldn't be able to supply enough power for 25W charging. The up to 11V mode would be able to supply enough power. The UGREEN only offering one PPS mode would get selected by the device.
