Just started my journey in roofing assessment cold calls and I feel this guy 100%. Things haven't been going my way almost quit, yet slowly but surely learning/gaining so much more in the process.. Things you'd never expect would come with the opportunity. The art of communication is everything. Hone your skills and persevere. Keep practicing, keep learning & keep improving. 💪

Alexander, thank you for the comment my dude. Real talk, right? It ain't always rainbows and sunshine in this industry. I am glad to hear that Carl's story resonates with you. Let it be a reminder for each of us to stay persistent, focus on SERVICE, and work through our own inner demons. Good luck out there and comment on any videos. I read and reply to all of them.

I've just started roofing sales and the company I'm with is newer. So all my leads are cold knocks...I just drive around and talk to people and go door to door. I don't have much trouble with talking to people and not having any leads. I think it's a matter of perspective, compared to what I did in the military, getting a door shut in my face is INFINITELY easier and less stressful. Most people I talk to are actually very pleasant or at the very least, polite. Looking forward to seeing how far I can go.

@@bostonvigeant2476 Fundamentally agree 100%! For many getting started, it takes time to build the confidence and comfort. So starting there helps a ton. Also, I believe that working the neighborhood AND the key stages of the customer experience allows you to "knock with a reason" to be there - so it makes it easier, more effective, and helps you take over the neighborhood :)

I like Carl's story, but if I was a homeowner in his area, I would kick him out of my house just for saying 'you know' wayyy too much.

Adam!! What happens when total rcv is paid up front and and homeowner gets work done for less amount than paid??? Please help (dfw, TX)

GREAT question my dude. I've done a couple videos on this topic. Start with this one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hX6YpGRoatKtbdE -- The big thing to focus on is protecting the homeowner from surprises. Just because they got paid full RCV up front doesn't mean the scope is right. And there still could be things that come up. I sold a retail job once. It was a small $7k roof. We tore into it -- it turned out to be 3 layers (I was a rookie and missed it - so did the adjuster - so did the crew at first because it was so well covered up). 2 Layers of shingles over wood shake. Needed a full re-deck. It 2x'd the price of the project. Homeowner quickly tells me that it's an insurance claim and asked if I could help. Of course I did! I supplemented for it and saved the homeowner thousands (an additional $7k). My point is this -- educate the homeowner using this approach and telling stories :) I also cover this in great detail in my CLOSING Strategy should you be interested. Hope this helps my dude!

IMO: a) they always under pay b) they might pay early and fast to get last months/year's Xact pricing and to close the claim asap. c) if you're asking if that's legal - sure, as long as the HO is satisfied with the work and proves to the carrier it's done (if they ever need to file another claim with the same carrier on those finished items - they'll need to prove this) and if your "really" asking if that "done for less contractor" is/was you - sure, legal also (IMO) as long as you're not trying to supplement after the job for "more than you charged them"... legal. But i'm no lawyer either:).

@@dizzy0187 lmfao I quit that dumb shit. I did some... unconventional things, racked up $20k and started a lead generation agency. So now I sell leads to roofers and water damage restoration companies. I also considered solar installation but the demand isn't high enough. The money is 100× better, the sales are soooo much easier, and I can travel the world while running the business from a smartphone and tablet/laptop. But if you enjoy pounding the pavement and grinding, more power to you. I rather do something more efficient and rewarding
