One more thing about Nestlé -- Peter Brabeck-Letmathe, a former chairman and CEO of the company, famously said that water is not a human right. That statement, in and of itself, should dispel any doubts about Nestlé's evil intentions.

The problem is, the corporate model is evil, meaning even the good corporations are likely to go bad. With PACs, Wall Street, mergers, and the Money is Speech legal doctrine, there really are no corporations to look to for conscientiousness.

Good luck...even the "best" well intended companies hide detrimental business practices. Usually because they're viewed as pro-enviroment, humanity, accountability, etc. Any company that's been around long enough turns into a money making monopoly at the expense of service, product, freedom, and the planet.

When I was younger I was a CNA. I worked at a nursing home and had sat with a lovely woman while she was eating. She ate her entire meal and even asked for extra pudding. She had Alzheimer's, so that was quite a thing. The RN asked me how I gotten the lovely woman to actually eat all of her dinner. I advised her that I had just talked to her. She said, "Don't bother talking to the Alzheimer's patients. They won't remember it anyways." I was losing my grandma to Alzheimer's at that time. That was my last day as a CNA. My grandma died shortly thereafter by choking on her dinner at a similar home. When my boyfriend's mom was ill, I wholeheartedly supported keeping her at home. She didn't want to stay in a home or stay in hospice. She had been a RN who has worked in hospice and emergency. So yeah, I completely agree with what you said.

FUN FACT: When _Coca-Cola_ was first made it contained cocaine, which was not illegal at the time. Also, I’m old enough to remember when soft drinks came in glass bottles that could be redeemed at any store that sold that brand. Small bottles brought you three cents (in those days of penny candy) and a large bottle would get you a nickel; before the switch to plastic, the prices went up to a nickel and a dime, respectively. When I was in the fourth grade (1965-66), our class had a field trip to Coca-Cola bottling plant in Santa Clara. WHEEE! Fun times…

A couple of points - tobacco products have had warnings on them for years but people still smoke or vape [I don't and never have] then expect to be able to sue the company that makes them. If I lay in the middle of the road and am run over by a car can I sue the maker of the car? After all I had been warned it was a dangerous thing to do. With regard to Deepwater Horizon the drilling was sub contracted to a US company that failed to stand up to requests to carry out unsafe practices, but as BP is not a US company the focus was on prosecuting them.

# 20 Goldman Sachs One detail that must be remembered with the info here: They, like all lenders, were forced. Barney Frank's House Banking Committee wrote new rules *requiring* lenders to make sub-prime loans. [A sub-prime is a loan that would not have been made based on the applicant's provided info b/c the likelihood of their default was so high.] Being forced by these rules to make these very risky loans, of COURSE the lender will seek a means to bundle the mortgages as an asset, being "future income" satisfied by the borrowers' payments. Then - as their credit history suggested would happen - borrowers began defaulting massively and the mortgages were worthless. Had the House Banking Committee not forced the loans to be made, the problem would not arisen.
