On the electric car thing… Scientific Lifecycle Analyses of fuel, components, batteries, etc. show that electric cars are already significantly better (from a climate perspective) than any hybrid or gas/diesel. These studies are mostly from the US and looking at lifetime, so the calculations may differ for the UK. In many parts of the US, where public transport is non existent and electricity is comparatively cheap and low-CO2, electric cars are demonstrably better for the environment. According to the current scientific consensus. However, I’ll note that I happily drive a ‘99 Toyota Tacoma 4wd that is as manual as possible 😂. I can’t afford a new vehicle and live far enough north that electric is not ideal.

Yeah disappointing to see Ste making up stuff on EVs. They are undoubtedly better for the environment and data/research backs that up fully. I used to work in research and can also guarantee EVs are better for the environment. They can be charged from home using solar panels for peats sake. That's what I do with my one anyways and no way I going back to ICE. On top off all this anti EV rhetoric, virtually all OEMs will stop production of ICE by the start of the next decade 😂

Bit out of the box thinking but a good short term option for wing back in january on loan would be Neco Williams, welsh international, specialist wing back who plays left or right. Been outstanding under Bellamy and consistent for Wales overall as a wing back. Not starting for Forest in recent weeks. Bellamy said players need to be playing regular football come March, so he may be available on loan.

United were looking at Davies when he was still at the Whitecaps in Vancouver, playing as a winger, so I was gutted when he ended up at Bayern. Watching him in Vancouver was a joy (I've been living there the last 10 years). Madrid will be a massive pull to any player, but I hope the prospect of being a key player in rebuilding United under Amorim will hook him in.

I'm convinced United's summer window was Amoriims work. I was surprisingly happy with our window, and I thought it was very different to how Ten Hag normally operates. At the time I put it down to INEOS coming in, but now with the luxury of hindsight, it was clearly preparation for Ruben Amorim. We will never know for sure, but I will take my hat off if this is the case. This could be the start of some great weekends again, fingers crossed. Can't wait for Sunday.

I think if we don’t go for Davies, or end up in a scenario where the value-for-money for the transfer gets too stretched, there’s another fullback worth considering. Tiago Santos of Lille. Portuguese, young, and (downside) missing the rest of this season with an ACL. But his metrics are up there with Davies and Aït-Nouri, and (theoretically) would cost us far far less considering the injuries and his price tag to Lille was only like 6m euros.

In the event of a power cut you wouldn't be able to fuel up your petrol/diesel car Ste - petrol pumps require electricity to work. Also the last coal fired generating station in the UK closed down a few months ago. Further debunking some of your not too well researched thoughts - battery technology has advanced to Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries now (which don't use cobalt and manganese) and solid state sodium batteries. These are far safer than the older traditional batteries. Besides which, after the end of life of Li-ion batteries can be 95% recycled into new batteries these days and there are now recycling plants in the UK, US and other countries who do this - so no need for extensive mining any more. Try recycling the used petrol or diesel being spewed out of the back of your diesel. Let's preserve the limited petrochemicals for more important things like pharmaceutical manufacture, clothing etc.

As for the death of Jaguar. Nope - Not even close. Yes I do know as I have been contracted in the past by JLR to undertake the studies for the brand and impact with electric and renewables. There is a huge amount of scope for the business models JLR can adopt. I understand the mining concerns and manufacturing. The grid and infrastructure concerns are mitigated through personal renewable sources. Texas was clearly not as prepared for a cold snap as Norway which can manage such things. Oil has supply chain variables and fuels cannot be stored indefinetly either without going off and becoming unusable.

Brake dust and tyre wear with particulate matter are also problems - there seems to be a false equivilance narrative about heavier electric cars being worse for these reasons which is spurious at best.

Robinson is currently on a quarter of Davies' wages. If we are going to be paying 300K a week to get Davies, we could probably double Robinsons 50k a week wages and save 10 mill a year. Over a five year contract that would save 50 mill, which could be spent in one year through ammortisation. So even getting Davies on a Free, Robinson's value of 35 Million would be 15 mill cheaper over 5 years.

Nailed it. It’s not ideal trying to out pay the competition but whilst we are NOT in the champions league and all the way down on 13th it’s the only way to get a player like Davies. I would say no to that strategy but for a player like Davies in Amorims system would be one of the exceptions and the fact he would walk into our starting 11 makes it a no brainer 🤷‍♂️

Those are about 7 players we can and should move on in the upcoming windows to free up space and level the wage bill to be able to afford Davies especially on a free. That will be a good piece of business. Also one of either Shaw or Malacia will have to be shipped out as well.

If man u are serious in changing the game up, put Bruno as centra forward CF, shadow the striker or second wave of attack, get one of the younger players or mount in his existance position, Bruno is adaptable, he is just stubborn tho and very frustrating to watch when he is capable of alot more. Casemairo could play role like, Fred CM long pass and hold the ball or play him as a extra Centra Back. Amad can play right or left, natural side left quality, replace Rashford on wing. Garnocho on the right but needs to pass more. Rashford and Ramus strikes, with a wild card Anthony as back up

Money shouldn’t be the motivator but it has always kind of been a part of our allure hasn’t it? He wouldn’t come if he didn’t like the look of the project. As a footballer, he has 10 years in front of him and his next deal will be decisive for his future. He knows what happened to Pogba, Sanchez as some of the best paid players who failed along with our previous era. There is a different mood now. Yoro is a big sign there. We won that battle by bidding more and THEN convincing him of the project. Now, there is no bidding, besides to his people directly. My hope is that we’ll put more into the sign-on fee and have his salary be compliant to our new wage structure.

No problem with us paying Davies more than other teams if the numbers are right for us. Is't it supposedly about 240K per week and a signing bonus of 8-10M? If the club deems him to be the best candidate to play left wingback then his value to us is probably more than it would be to other teams if they see him as an option. We're already paying Rashford, Casemiro, Sancho over 300k per week, getting the ideal candidate on similar wages to de Ligt is sensible, who cares if it's more than what someone else would pay. Would rather we pay this instead of chasing Chillwell and putting him on 200k per week, or getting someone in at 150k who isn't quite what we need. It looks like Davies is available, ideal for the position we need and possibly for wages that would seem to fit our structure
