They’ve made decent changes since they came in. Total revamp. INEOS deserve all the praise they get. Remember that Ten Hag wasn’t an INEOS appointment, and they moved VERY fast and secured a top class and in demand manager. I think that’s maybe the reason City kept Pep for another year. They wanted Amorim.
@robertdundee2011Күн бұрын
@@Discombobulate453I’ve seen a few Ineos grumbles in the comments. Bit strange. The whole setup has been ripped up and built from the top down, Carrington is being improved, progress on stadium improvements. I’m not sure exactly what they have done to piss people off? Short memories to when there was a massive game postponed due to the real owners. Further away they are from any football or infrastructure decisions, the better.

It’s going to be a long road, but I’m hopeful. Just need to remember where we are starting from. Also having a director of football, a sporting director and a CEO who isn’t a complete spanner isn’t some kind of cheat code for success - it’s what every club has now. It will come down to how good they are at their jobs.
@robertdundee2011Күн бұрын
The cheat code to success includes an actual country, oil, a manager the media can’t stop gushing over to criticise and the authorities allowing unlimited spending.

I wonder if Berrada started in July and wanted Amorim. Either the club wanted time to do their research or it was too close to the season for Amorim/Sporting to agree releasing him. They end summer with it in their mind of trying for Amorim again next summer, get through this year with ETH and as some insurance add Ruud in case of emergency. And they realized they couldn't afford to struggle through the season and did what ever they had to to push it through now.

I am from Portugal (Not even a Sporting fan... I am from Benfica) but you talked about CVs so lets tell this... AJAX always had a great academy... when he won those titles he had great players... I've been saying since the game against Fulham that Ten Haag would be sacked within two months. I was two weeks out. Nothing had changed. It was still the exact same depressing vibe that was apparent against Wolves on the opening day of last season. The know it all Howson said they wouldn't sack him and he'd get u till Christmas. He asked why would they sack him after giving him a new contract. The guys here echo what I've been saying for months. They went with fan sentiment after the cup win. Any manager coming in after that who started badly and everyone would have gone with the rose tinted glasses and hindsight saying we should have kept Ten Haag. I think INOES made the right decision because now there can't be any of that nonsense. Fans look for reasoning everywhere, and there will ALWAYS be a talking point.

The Ugarte signing is the thing that makes me think this was the plan all along; if still not the timing. Erik wanted us to go for the permanent signing of Amrabat. My biggest concern about completely switching up the system and going to 343 is IF god forbid it doesn’t work out with Amorim we’ve then gotta do a complete overhaul again. Which is the exact thing we’re trying to avoid surely. Too many managers have had to come in and had to get rid of/buy players to fit their system, only to find out it doesn’t work. Atleast wirh a 4231 even if we change some of the personnel the basis remains the same. 343 is a complete shift from that and a big commitment
@lourencoteles84142 күн бұрын
The only two players that get regular minutes at United that aren’t suited to Amorim’s system are Casemiro and Eriksen and it’s mainly due to their lack of intensity, they can do a job of the bench.
