This was a brave effort. Only just watched it, and sorry to hear that Kevin has died. RIP, and condolences for his family and friends. ALS appears to be amongst a whole host of diseases that might be described as Diseases of Civilisation. In other words, if I lived in Ethiopia as a Hunter Gatherer 50,000 years ago, it would be extremely unlikely that I would suffer from them. From this information it therefore becomes clear that we are doing things that are putting us at risk of developing serious and life threatening conditions, such as, heart diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and ALS MND & MS. Metabolic Syndrome, hypertension, Diabetes Type 2, and Obesity. There is increasing evidence that all of these conditions occur as a result of the nutritional changes that we have made without our full understanding the consequences. Following on from this, it is also clear that should we chose to do everything 'right' for all of these conditions, nutritionally speaking, as well as a few other lifestyle changes, they all should be reversible/preventable. These are the challenges of the 21st Century for Medicine and Society....... Much more important than going to Mars !!.....

All sounds good. It just may not be cured. So many other diseases take so many more lives. That is why it's low priority.
