I hate it. My cravings start 2 weeks before my cycle and it’s almost uncontrollable

Same 💔 I gain 5-10 lbs because I’m too tired to exercise and I’m so hungry and can’t get full AND I’m craving junk food. Eating so much chocolate. I have 12 normal days a month where I feel great and play catch up….luteal phase is ruining my life. The first couple days of this phase I can’t even work because my body feels too heavy to move, I have to just sleep.

same, i am super organized the first two weeks, but then it's like a monster takes over and ruins everything. Yesterday it was with chocolate (I don't even like chocolate bars on the regulars) and today with sugar cookies even though I also don't enjoy them that much. The only thing that works is having everything super meal prepped, but sometimes my PMS lso sabotages that sort of preventive behavior.

Exactly, the days before my period I feel lazy and have a lot of cravings, and when my period arrives I feel a lot of energy and my hunger gets back to normal. The problem is now in my late 20s the cravings I have during my PMS are so crazy that they mess my diet and my weight for at least the next two weeks.

This is making me cry because it just freed me from so much guilt and shame from judging my insatiable hunger for the past few days. Your video is very, very good and highly useful for people with eating disorders. I'm very grateful right now thank you!

I’ve been doing a lot better since watching her but I just can’t seem to defeat my period cravings. I lose the same 6-9 pounds over and over and it sucks because it takes me most of the month just to lose it just to eat it all back the week of my period

I am post menopause now, and thankfully don't experience the extreme mood swings and cravings that I did. The video had good advice anyway, particularly about not catastrophising following a binge. I have found that just continuing with 'normal eating ' following a binge or period of overeating is the very best way to get back on track. Restricting of any kind is never the answer!

Firstly, thank you! I just discovered your channel and I'm learning so much from all of your content. I struggle with bulimia but I can absolutely relate to BED. I get ravenous the week before my period so I struggle more with using ED behaviors during that time. Knowing the biology behind this is really helpful as well as planning ahead/caring for yourself. I just had my period and with it came an uptick in behaviors. I'm looking forward to planning ahead this month so I can have a better outcome.

Welcome Dorothy. I’m very glad you are here ❤️ There is are a lot of overlaps between BED and bulimia. I was struggling with bulimia for 6-7 years and it was BED either side of that. I hope you find the content useful 🙂

Tracking has definitely helped me. I have been able to meal prep, so I am strict with myself for 3 weeks. The week before I allow myself to have a treat a day and take the time to really enjoy it. Being conscious is the key. My moods have lifted and weight doesn’t fluctuate as much. I feel increasing serotonin is something I can work on, thank you so much. This has been very helpful. 😊

What do you usually meal prep for before your period

I increase my protein intake and lower carbs. So no bread or pasta, only veg & greens like butternut squash, sweet potatoes, spinach, broccoli, kale, salads etc. I make soups (both veg & chicken/meat) and grilled fish, chicken and meat. Broths are another thing I make in bulk and freeze. Sometimes I have brown/wild rice. I prepare and freeze portions and put them in the fridge the night before I need them. Doing this has definitely reduced my sugar intake now. I don’t crave sweets or fizzy drinks, which I’ve not had for over a 2 years now. (Also shopping habits are something I’ve consciously changed, no junk food allowed on main shopping trips. If I want chocolate I would have to make a special trip, which is a good deterrent-lol).

You are the only person who makes any sense and the only one who can seem to reach me. I am in a place where these actions no longer serve me, and I am fully aware vs my more "Hazy days" in the past.. but the pattern continues. I try to search for someone local, but I get overwhelmed and end up shutting down. I believe your one on one price is worth the break through, and I would love to talk.♡

Feel free to contact me via my website. There is a waiting list for 1-2-1, but I also do various groups, support meetings and a weekend intensive online retreat. I know people think 1-2-1 is the gold standard, but I think for many people the group is more powerful. Check out the Connect and Recover groups. Discounted spaces are available if affordability is an issue ❤️

Hi Sarah! Amazing video as always. I've always wondered why I feel so hungry the days before and during my period, now i know why. Self-compassion was key for me during my last period because I didn't over criticized myself as much as I am used to do it for compulsive eating. I always think "how is possible that I do this to my own body?", "why i am my worst enemy?", etc. But now I changed a little the way I am used to treat myself and I saw a small difference during my period. I'm trying to increase selfcompassion (babysteps). I've been learning about self-compassion before I found your channel Sarah and this knowledge has been really helpful but now I'm sure that I'm really understanding how to be selfcompassive in a successful way due to your content Sarah. I'm starting to stop seeing my brain and my body as my enemies, and I feel amazing when I'm capable to do it. Thank you Sarah, your unique content is helping hugely!!👍❤🇨🇱

After reading Fast Like A Girl by Dr Mindy Pelz i learned how to track my period and expect which days I'll have cravings. She suggests eating certain foods at times of the month to support certain hormones. All this to say, i still need help being in control of urges around these times but your videos are helping me. Especially the meditations. Knock me right out for bed. Love your channel.

I ate all the food I crave possible until my belly hurts sometimes from being full 😅. Normally, I only have one day out of two weeks that I binge eat and the rest of the days I crave but not binge eat. Today is my binge eating day and I’m five days to go before my cycle.

My period is due in a week. I woke up with acne and swollen ankles this morning. I am three pounds heavier today. And what’s worse???? I was hungry all day long, which only happens in the week leading up to my period. I am not a snacker, but today I was popping almonds and sunflower seeds every time I walked into my kitchen. I spent my day craving high fat foods. Then I sat down and ate pineapple like a piggy!!!

Hahaha I saw that "will power video" . Thank you for this video. I agree with you it really is a struggle (I've actually struggled with food, drugs, and alcohol). Everything is compulsive behavior. I believe it's all about gaining knowledge (yes track your periods, -shout out @flowapp) what has worked for me is moving slow and practicing mindfulness and practicing loving & nurturing activities (cook yummy meal) .. oh and if you can ... don't participate in any "very active errands" 😅 I have been tracking intensely & mindfully my periods for a year now. It is possible to have a peaceful period (I suffer from painful terrorizing cramps and mood swings. Trust the process girl! Track it , journal about it, get help (I started seeing an acupuncture Dr and told her about my sad period experiences. Do your research about it! Sending love to you all ❤❤❤
