Why to be surprised? In Syria eg, there are a good proportion of blond people with blue eyes, I remember hundreds of one "house" in my village southern Syria, they were all very blond with big blue eyes. The same applies to many other regions in Syria especially the coastal area, people with green, blue and grey eyes, but of course the majority in Syria are "Wheaty". My favourite is white with black hair. ❤️

1) he didnt die his hair its natural (it's naturally lighter, not platinum but still) 2) she didnt "beat the odds" but has a mutation thats not in 23andme's database, that is an allele they dont test for, because it's not a european one. The database is compiled largely from European americans

For Italian, they mean northern Italy, in this test, that's why they include Southern Italy too. Northern Italy was inhabited by Celtic, German and Goths during the centuries of its history

Phil is sicilian and In Sicily, there are lots of people like him due to the Norman (Viking) and Suevian occupation. For example, it Is not rare to see red-haired people as well. Yes, It is possible to see people, 100% Sicilians, who look like Germans or Sweden. Sicily is a Wonderful island for that as well. In Sicily, normans and then Suevian stayed 240 years. Arabs only about 200 years.

Being blond doesn't mean you have Scandinavian ancestry and being dark doesn't mean you have Italian ancestry etc. Any ethnicity can have a variety of colouring. There are blond Kalash for example. It can happen in any ethnicity it's just that some populations have higher percentages of certain traits. Recessive traits can pop up in darker populations and it doesn't mean there is a Viking in the woodpile. Also Normans weren't Vikings and had a lot of French blood by the time they started invading other countries.

Many middle Eastearns look northern european. Levant arabs usually have olive skin but a lot of them have red or blonde hair and pale skin. Up in north africa ( besides egypt, where it happens but its rare) there a lot of people will green eyes, fair skin.

Southern Italy used to be called "Magna Graecia" meaning Greater Greece. It was predominantly settled by Greeks and even ruled by Greeks up until about 1000 years ago.

This tests are very inaccurate and even if they were reliable, it only means that 20% of his ancestors might have come from the middle eastern area (not necessarily an Arab country, you know). Plus all humans share common ancestors and even middle eastern can be light in complexion and/or eye color, if you have the stereotype that ALL the people of a certain country must look the same, then you'd be surprised by the amount of diversity there is even in the very homogeneous groups. Culture is what defines us, believe it or not. ;)
