About that woman I can't really understand her dialect but she says something along the lines of : " why would someone break down a window and hurt such a sweet girl? If you ask me I think it's disgusting". This isn't the exact translation but it's definitely close❤ btw I love you and your videos. Keep going strong xoxo

Amanda Knox was questioned for a couple of hours on 5 November 2007. Her questioning was stopped at 1:45am when she became an official suspect. She wasn't questioned again that night. She repeatedly accused Diya Lumumba of murder despite the fact she knew he was innocent. She reiterated her false and malicious allegation the next day in her handwritten note to the police: “I stand by my [accusatory] statements that I made last night…in these flashbacks that I’m having, I see Patrick as the murderer”. (Amanda Knox's handwritten note to the police on 6 November 2007) Amanda Knox didn't retract her false and malicious allegation against Diya Lumumba the whole time he was in prison.

The saddest part of this case to me is that almost all of the coverage is centered around Amanda rather than Merideth. I so appreciate you speaking about her personal life in the beginning. I understand because it is such an odd case. But speaking about Merideth more makes it so much more human rather than than feeling like just a case shrouded in mystery.

As a socially awkward autistic person, this is why I'm terrified of getting falsely accused of murder. Any of my "weird" behaviors would be used against me and I would be so fucked. I can't say for sure until I experience it myself, but knowing my personality, I don't think I would react to a friend or relative's death in the way most people would expect. I'd probably be too in shock to express any kind of emotion.
@anastaciyaknoll

i’m always hesitant to judge someone (and their guilt) based on their reaction unless something is seriously wrong. no one gets to tell someone how they should be grieving or reacting after a trauma
@Venvaneless
@Venvaneless 3 жыл бұрын
Same!! It's why I'm so obsessed with this case. People break every aspect of her demeanour, behaviour, smile into pieces and try finding second or even third meaning. Like for example, after the murder happened, Amanda was pretty normal around her boyfriend and didn't mind what happened all around her. In case of me I'm kinda same, especially if I knew I didn't do anything bad, or when my boyfriend is around me he has this magic capabilities of soothing me out. Also I have issues with showing empathy, even when I do have and show it in cases where someone close to me suffers, but not when I just don't like a person or don't know them. I just don't think I would be falling apart after something like this if I didn't even like the victim. In many cases where people point out how Amanda behaves, I'm afraid, because I would react similar, albeit not the same and would still show a little more emotions I guess.

Many of her actions aren’t that odd to me? Her boyfriend showing her affection & her reciprocating it after a traumatic event isn’t weird. Being antsy & exerting energy through stretching, moving about, etc. when locked in a small area for hours, especially when nervous, isn’t weird. Nervous people can have a lot of pent up energy. Scared, traumatized people usually want to be comforted by their loved ones. It makes sense to me...

exactly. Anyone would honestly act “weird” in that situation because it’s terrifying. I think her actions were justified. The Italian police need to find new ethics cuz everything they are doing is not ethically correct and they are IGNORING evidence against other people just to convict someone solely based on their sexuality and a false accusation. Clearly you don't understand how traumatic interrogations can affect a human brain. There's a REASON why we don't torture confessions out of people in the states. It's because confessions made under physical and mental duress are VERY often completely false. Amanda Knox was interrogated for 43 HOURS. Being cooped up in a tiny room without the freedom to eat, drink, use the bathroom without express permission WHILE being screamed at and even hit at one point would make YOU accuse whomever they put it in your head to accuse too.

It’s not even Amanda’s reaction that makes me question her, she just gives me a weird vibe. I watched the Netflix special about her and the way she presents herself is just off putting. I just can’t understand her personality. That being said, I don’t think she did it. And I don’t think that a woman’s sexual experiences should have a n y t h i n g to do with a criminal case. That’s just ludicrous. Girl might be free spirited, and a little strange. But that doesn’t make her a murderer

I think she might be mentally ill, honestly. The distractedness, the lack of awareness of her surroundings, the inability to process a socially appropriate response, the avoidance of a public gathering (the vigil), the inability to remember when under pressure and fabricating memories under said pressure? She might either be schizoid or under the autism spectrum. But that doesn't make her a killer. Quite the opposite, actually; innocent people who are mentally ill are typically the first to be attacked/accused under such circumstances. Also, police usually have problems "reading" mentally ill individuals, because their knowledge of interrogating suspects is based on how a mentally healthy person "should" behave, and of breaking a mentally healthy person emotionally to extract a confession. Psych classes aren't a requirement in the academy (regardless of where in the world the police are). If they were, there'd be much fewer false confessions. They tortured this poor girl, who needed some serious help. Small wonder people don't trust cops.

@@MelissaTreglia Well, the weird actions or "persona" she has exhibited can be attributed partly to the trauma of it all. I think it's pretty safe to say that when you're put under these extreme circumstances no one knows how you will react since everyone handles it differently. Not to mention that she was jailed in a foreign country without knowing the language for a long time and had to learn it in jail, to be able to understand everything that was going on and to be able to make herself properly understood. I'm not an expert on mental illnesses but I think that can warrant at least some mental instability in a person. The footage or recordings of her before the murder indicate, to me, nothing but a pretty average 20-year-old girl who left her home and country, for the first time at that, to explore the world. The only somewhat "weird" behavior I've seen was from after the incident.

Right? What baffles me most is that how everyone who's Italian, even people who now don't believe she murdered Meredith, seem to be so mad and think it was so monsterous and "heartless" (I hear that description a lot!) that she said Patrick Lamumba was there...well, the police were convinced from that Lamumba was involved because of that text, so they kept pushing and pushing and pushing until she finally told them what they wanted to hear! It's false confession 101! It's really frustrating that the idea of Lamumba being involved came from assumptions made by the police, but then, when it was proven impossible, everyone blames Amanda for it.

To tell the truth and confess that she and the other two had murdered Meredith? The media circus surrounding Amanda, especially in Italy, was ridiculous. I feel like the focus on her perceived "immoral" sexual behaviour was meant to show that she could also commit murder - as if the two were linked. Even her "sweet, inexperienced" Italian boyfriend was described as being seduced by her forwardness o_O There were MASSIVE cultural diffferences too that affected the case, even with the text saying "see you later", which I learned recently from American friends means goodbye and not literally "see you later today". A non-conforming woman like Knox, who was openly sexual, enjoyed partying (drinking alcohol & smoking weed), swore, and was "odd" and not traditionally "feminine", is an easy target in a conservative society.

Countless Americans hold the ridiculous belief that the US legal system is the only competent and just one in the world, and that no US citizen charged by a foreign court with any crime can possibly be guilty of it, or ever receive a fair trial. None of them has read a single page of any of the official court reports or court transcripts.

I've been living in Italy for the last year and a half, this happened about 2 hours away from where I live, I've watched the documentary on Netflix and it seems like the Italian law enforcement and the locals really pinned it on her instead of looking for other possible killers. And just from my experience *please don't kill me anyone* it seems like the older generation of Italians don't like Americans to begin with. I still don't know how I feel about this case though because the laws here are VERY different from the American laws. I can see Americans taking an advantage over here because of the laws being so relaxed but I can't see her killing her roommate, because seeing the crime scene photos, Amanda and her boyfriend were string beans. Someone had to of man handled the roommate.

Talynn Ash but in a lot of cases, most people don’t seem like the type to kill someone, until they do. I just find hard to believe that she didn’t have something to do with this. Especially with how strange she was acting afterwards and her bizarre story of finding her roommate dead. The open door didn’t set her off, the blood or bloody foot print didn’t either, wasn’t until she saw a turd floating in the toilet that she realized something was wrong? Seriously?

@@haleyhaley1458 I think she was a young girl, smoking pot and partying in another country, not reallt concerned with those around and she was the easy target. That's just what I believe. You should watch the documentary.

Talynn Ash I did watch the Netflix documentary, like a year ago. I still feel the way I feel. Meredith was stabbed brutally and nothing was taken from their apartment. Brutal stabbings usually means it’s personal and the lack of anything being stolen means It wasn’t just a break in. I’m not gonna say that she necessarily stabbed her, but I just find it hard to believe she didn’t have something to do with the murder.
@ashleysartattack5600

That’s what I was thinking. That they might’ve automatically picked her as the murderer because of course it’s a thing to hate on Americans. I had friends in college that went to study abroad in France and they felt similarly. Like they would be put I in a flat with someone from England and Spain and France. But they would all make friends with each other and just leave the Americans from my school out. So the Americans from my college ended up only making friends with each other because nobody else would talk to them.

Honestly its not an American-Italian thing. Its having a foreigner to blame, its much easier then blaming someone of your nationality especially for a murder of someone not from Italy. It makes the nation look bad and unsafe for other foreign students, which they don’t wont obviously.

Technically it was the Italian press that caused the stir which is not Amanda's fault regardless of her level of involvement (innocent/guilty or not). Why? Italy is quite a sexist country with an obsession for young, foreign pretty women so what Italian newspaper wouldn't jump at the chance of such a scoop? Here was a young, foreign, attractive woman right on their doorstep who had a thirst for wild sex and blood (which is basically how the story ran). The media made Amanda out to be the central character/main villain in this case which is why most of the focus was (and continues to be) on her. Regardless of her level of guilt (whether it's no guilt or total guilt which the court was never able to establish) it's completely unacceptable that she was targeted in this way.

@@ladyred5468 I believe Amanda did it or was involved somehow and threw whoever she could under the bus. Look at her twitter now it's awful she has no remorse or feels sad for Meredith or her family. She's a psychopath or sociopath there's something wrong with her. Us Brits think Amanda did it

@ What Kate Did Next I mean... if she didn’t do it what does she have to feel remorseful about? She also probably has been advised to not speak about the case whatsoever.
