But he is right about the happiest man being married which then we could also say on the contrary single men are the most depressed which which also is a case study on if you do your research. @soundsaboutright--- There is truth to both arguments. Yes, there were women who worked, but as you said, the jobs were limited. There was more co dependency back in the day. Husband and wife had specific roles and needed each other. Now that women are just as visible in the workforce, there isn’t that same urgent need for husbands. I think what was covered in the conversation was the core roles and the way they fit to meet the needs of the persons in the relationship. That was the aspect that was touched on. I think the assumption is that the mental/emotional needs are being met.

This life contentment gap is only likely to widen as more and more single-childless women buck societal norms and become comfortable pouring into work and other relationships including friends and family. why are people always talking about some damn gender roles? Its so frustrating to me. Do I agree that male and females have different assignments in this world yes to some degree, but why are people acting as if relationships are not more nuance then playing a role? The fact of the matter is and history has shown, that at some point women were playing the "role" of a submissive wife....cooking, cleaning etc and were still being treated like dog shyt from her "Loving Husband" go figure. Never mind the cheating aspect which is a whole other shyt show in itself, but men were literally beating the shyt out of there wives. In 1920s they had to pass a bill to make DV illegal just to keep some control over the amount of men who were abusing there wives. (THEY HAD TO PASS A BILL FOR IT) which means it was LEGAL! and our dutiful, strong and tough protectors had no problems keeping us in line by way of an ass whooping. In the 1950 DV was at a all time high. These are the marriages ppl are glorifying saying things like " marriages don't last like they use too". No! and there's a reason for that. Women were not safe around men (still aint) and the majority of those men were living under the same roof as them go figure. At the end of the day most marriages are to benefit men, not women especially nowadays. In fact studies show that men live longer lives in marriages and women's lives shorten in marriages go figure lol. That's because most men take, and that's with damn near every aspect of a man life not just with there wives go read a book ppl. I say all of this to say, that its not just about playing a role in a relationship. There's other things that come with our "roles" Like understanding, boundaries, spirituality, vulnerability, connectivity, etc and men barely are connected or vulnerable or even in tune with themselves. So how in the hell are they gonna show up for you in that way? A mentally healthy women needs thing of that caliber to survive and thrive in any healthy relationship, not just your man. I truly feel like the only humans that are doing the manipulation are the men. The power dynamics are shifting men are struggling, so they need women to believe this lie that were still dependent on them and that we need them to be whole and happy and to survive (we like yall even love but need is a strong statement), when in all actuality they need us to survive. In there minds it means "Im a push over a simp" most of them cant figure out how not to be a pushover, but still be a warm space for us. Where are the lessons from history here? women fought for liberation because they were not allowed to have their own bank accounts or own property. If the household labour was fair women would find it easier to relax. There are not enough high earning men to cater to a stay at home wife and kids in this economy. Lets be real. Marriage is beneficial for women because it provides both parties with support, companionship, and protection in several aspects. Also, it’s beneficial bc if you love/fear the Lord than it should be a desire to live a life that is pleasing unto him. If you don’t want to get married fine but be careful promoting single life bc ppl may think that it means you’re promoting fornication which is against God, His will and his word. Making a generalized statement about men being jealous of women and using a scenario regarding getting in free at the club as a talking point to prove that is insane. Men who go to clubs aren’t the standard 1st and foremost and they for dmn sure don’t represent all men. Men are visual so looks are important and almost always initiates their interest in a woman. The inner beauty comes after and that is what makes them stay/fall in love. You can’t assume that Tyrese’s intentions were transactional just bc his wife is beautiful. Her beauty may have enticed him but he probably grew to really love her for her regardless of her good looks.

Women are visual as well. People and animals are visual. I don’t a man or woman that looks at each other and says we are going to be great friends. It just doesn’t happen that way. Tyrese’s was enticed and attracted to her beauty. It was his in. If didn’t care about her personality, background, single parent raised, education. See, there's one more thing that the happiness statistics also tell us without ever being mentioned. Who's more happy ? Married family men, or married family women ? Well, apparently married family men. And between single men without a family and women without a family ? Also men. Wait a minute. So men are just happier in general, that's what that means. Husbands are easier to please than wives, and single men are happier than single women. So if it comes to men and women potentially not dealing with each other at all in the future… women are going to suffer from it more than men. So keep your standards where they're at, you're going to pay for it more than men are. This is extremely self-destructive, but you won't notice it because the alternative implies women having some self-control and restraint, and being reasonable and realistic.
