@@jasonsmith6219 the way his early life in McCoy seemed, around the Banishing Babies episode, seemed like his job was everything. Fix the fence, tend the animals, go fishing. I doubt he didn't grow to care about the livestock, and would be rather upset if anything happened to them, even if he did all he could.

At first I'm all "I've got more questions than I did in the first place," but then I realized I really only had the one extra question of "what do chupacabra have against wood burning?" If chupacabra don't specifically need to cause heartache, then most regular forrest critters are just too small to satiate it's thirst and livestock are notoriously kept healthy and in easy to hunt groups.

It's reasonable to suggest that Chupacabra have magical aspect to their existence. To that end, it could be something like the fire itself banishes the darkness and they are creatures of darkness. Also, it could be that they have a natural fear of forest fires. Another thought is that Carbon dioxide in large amounts suggests a large number of creatures and the Chupacabra do not generally gather in numbers large enough to say take on a whole town which is readied against them. A group of 10 or 20 would never attack a city of 500 but 4 or 5 would certainly hunt down several farmers and their flocks. There's plenty of mysticism to work the system, but there's plenty of biology too if you want it.

Man, your art style and story telling is just so awesome. The way this is presented so naturally (especially with the “clean the skin and use it for materials” part) really makes the situation feel real! Like I could go out to the countryside right now and people would be like “yep, we get a lot of chupacabra around here, but we know how to deal with them.” And it wouldn’t be abnormal. So cool, 11/10.

According to the Central American mythos they're pulling from, the very ground on which you walk is the repurposed body of a mostly dead and particularly nasty Kaiju that the Four Tezcatlipoca had to kill before they could make anything because it kept eating their creations.

Oooh they shed! For some reason I figured them more mammals but reptiles also work! Resilient monsters to to withstand all that rifle fire. Figure their preference for livestock would mostly be for the larger meals. But since the don’t seem to have natural prey to their proportions maybe they do got some insidous need to cause trouble. actually chupas are relatively new cryptid with sightings only starting to be reported in late 1995. coincidently coinciding with the release of the movie species. chupas described body has changed quite a lot since then as well.
