If you want an easier time taking on NUCLR-type Pokemon... STEEL. STEEL is the definitive answer. STEEL-type Pokemon take half damage from NUCLR-type moves. Therefore, the best starter in this game is clearly Orchynx.

CURIE: Runs a team which includes the single best Eeveelution in the game, a Pokemon with ridiculously good stats BEFORE it Mega Evolves, AND the box Legendary. Also CURIE: Gets munched by an anthropomorphic garlic bulb.

Wow, you did good in the battle. I have lost to then twice now and my pokemon are higher leveled! I've got the water starter and even mega evolved at level 60 it can't do anything against Curie. I'm not sure if I can ever win at this point.

She *is* quite tough. I forget if you can leave and head back to the route, but if you can, there should be some berries that reduce the amount of damage you take from a super effective Nuclear type move; those should help immensely.

Speed is the name of the game in the battles with CURIE. Remember; all Nuclear Types, including Urayne himself, are all weak against every other type out there. All you have to do is make sure you got pokemon that are not only strong, but _fast_ so they can mope the floor with CURIE's team before they even get the chance to knock out any of your pokemon... especially that Nucleon of hers.

The mod you're thinking of is probably Botania seeing as it uses a lot of RTP sound effects found in RPG Maker.

Wild Selkid can be found by surfing on Route 13 or diving and going through seaweed on Route 14. Shiny Pokemon are just really rare (I don't know if it's 1/8,192 or 1/4,096 in Uranium).
