It would be nice to have a direct comparison with AW3423DW in bright scenes (G7/G8 will be brighter but how much brighter?) and seperately in dark scenes (like Resident Evil 2/3/7/8 or other dark games). By the way, a lot of issues disappered in G9 Neo with a new firmware upgrade (especially in HDR, right now 20000:1 contrast is typical for this panel like in G7/G8 and it became truely very bright around 850 nits at 100% HDR window vs 350 nits in G7 and maybe around 500 nits in G8, sustained 1000 nits and above is available only at around 10% HDR window, G7 can't do 2000 nits for short highlights, G9 can, G8 isn't known yet). Despite some my healthy criticism (I hope), you have a very interesting and unique content, not any other on youtube.

I’ve been gaming for decades. I remember 8 and 16 but gaming, and what we have here before us were only possible in cut scenes back in the day. This is probably better! Consoles rule the roost for gaming, period! It’s the pound-for-pound king. Im a PC gamer as well, but this shames PC gaming. Look at this! It just can’t be beat.

The curve is great for all games. You just need to get used to the curve. It took me about a day. Mech games really look next level. But even reg games look great. But it is a love or not like kind of a feeling.

Hi Viktor, currently have a Neo G7 and can get the LG 32GQ950 for roughly $100 more (locally). I am going to use it for day to day work (excel) and Xbox series X. Which would you recommend? I currently have an LG TV from 2018 which can’t fully utilize the Series X. At the end of the day, I want the closest to OLED which I think would be the Neo G7 but worried about all of the issues online I keep reading up on. Any assistance would be appreciated!

Do you see any issues on your Neo g7 that bug you? Forget what you read online for a sec. Are you happy? Do you see any noticible issues on your gaming? Also you say you work with excel... do you have any issues with your specific programs you use? What I'm getting at is as long as you are happy forget what others say. Now on both... my opinion is that the only major difference or say "better" thing on the LG would be the flat vs curve issue. The color saturation is about 5-10% better on the LG (i can see it but not night and day diff) but HDR is nowhere as nice as the Neo G7. Let me know friend. These things are expensive so I know how you must feel when deciding...

The curve here is the most important part. If you like or can handle it then these are great for consoles. Buy other than the curve 27GP950, Sony M9, Gigabyte m32u (lots of value here st 599 on the m32u) all are great. The 32GQ950 is great too but it's hard to say which clear image is best as they're all very clear. The G50A is very bright and clear at 350. Once ps5 gets the 1440p Display update it will be very convenient getting a very good 1440p monitor.

There are toolbars on the side and bottom that take up space available for code in an IDE. @@DisplayReality Most IDEs have "dark mode" which is colorful/white text on greyish/blackish background. I'd love to know if I can open 2 IDE windows next to each other (there's a intellij idea community version for free to download and you don't need any setup for it) and if it doesn't look outright terrible and is readable, perhaps with scaling if the text would be too small. If there is fringing or if the curve makes it hard to use sidepanels in the IDE. 1 IDE + a browser window would be great too. That's pretty much 90% of programming use case I'd have, nobody really shows it and it's hard for me to estimate how it would look as I've never had a monitor of that size and resolution. Thanks :)

Can you comment on whether or not the the Neo G7's low 350 nit brightness in SDR is too low for bright room use? IPS panels < 400 nits are a bit rough, but maybe the VA panel's higher contrast improves visibility? I have the 27GP950B which does +/- 450 nits in in SDR and am tempted to upgrade to the Neo G7 for proper HDR, but don't want to compromise on brightness in SDR / daytime visibility.

Try cinema preset first. If that is too strong try custom with a black equalizer of 11-15 depending on what you like. Max brightness and Local dimming on High. Color saturation of 60 and a Gamma of mode 2.

@@ifherbowasntg548 with the contrast Enhancer it's up to you. Sometimes it's needed fir an outstanding impactfull image but others it's too strong. It depends. I got the Neo G8 and Ill show that option on or off. The settings I gave you will be strong so thats why I say on custom and a black equalizer of 11 to 15 will give you some room to tailor it. You said you were not happy before but I'm sure you will love it...

Yes friend. You can have it off or on. Now if you are asking if each port saves the menu? I need to check as I am not 100%. I do find myself turn on and off sometimes depending. The auto will only turn on for HDR. But I want it on in sdr mode too for that Mini led power.

I dont have the equipment but vrr always introduces some delay according to rtings. What about changing some settings on the mw2 menu. I saw a yt video about that. Just make sure low input lag is on in the menu on the Neo G7.

I really need someone’s help here!!! I just bought the Neo G7 for My PS5. I am using a HDMI Matrix to connect my Samsung Soundbar via optical cable with my PS5, Nintendo Switch and my monitor. Everything works quite fine except if I start i.e. CoD Vanguard. The little Channel box changed from HDMI(HDR) to just HDMI. What’s left is a black screen but with sound. I don’t have this problem with any other game. CoD MW also changes from HDMI(HDR) to just HDMI, but a second later it changes back to HDMI(HDR) and it works quite well. Any idea on how to solve it? The only thing I can think of is it sounds like your game is switching from 4k120hz to 4k60hz? I say this because of the HDMI matrix you use. It would need to have hdmi 2.1 passthru.?

Bro how did you update the G7A? I tried formatting the USB. Deleting all data from the USB. Restarted the hole process of me downloading the firmware upgrade from the Samsung website to transfer it to the Monitor and it still keeps saying that theirs No update file found. Do I need a new USB? the one I bought specifically for the monitor is called SanDisk cruzer 16GB. Am I doing something wrong to where the file is not saving in the USB when I take it out the laptop to put it in the monitor? I just got the monitor literally 1 day ago from the time of this comment and I still can't get the 4K 120hz It only goes up to 4k 60hz.

The Sony M9 is brighter in 100% white window. I can see these 96 zones do help make it prob the best IPS non mini led monitors but the VA depth of the Neo G7 wins... the Sony is sdr bright!

Hey Victors, what is the difference between local dimming auto vs High? How good the eco sensor mode that detects the ambient light and then sets the brightness?

Auto automatically turns on local dimming only for HDR. So when you switch it will auto do it. But if you set on high you can use local dimming for sdr gaming which is what I do. But you need to change back to off or low when browsing or working so you don't see blooming in normal use.

On PS5 I made sure I clicked properly for HDR. On the monitor I selected Cinema Preset, Brightness 100, contrast 80, Contrast Enhancer On, Local Dimming High. Try Ratchet and Clank that piercing light should easily be visible..

I have the Neo G8 but no games give me the option to enable hdr, when I enable it at windows 11 settings everything has a greyish colour to it. Am I missing something?

Friend my Neo G8 also does the same. Not on consoles only pc. I have not tried to fix yet. Maybe hard reset the monitor. Or try to disable adaptive sync. (These are just some ideas) I have not tried to fix yet.

I wouldn't say that there is less the image processing on these monitors (than on tv?). 4K is 4K. Maybe the image processing even must be faster in the monitor (especially for 240 hz). AW3423 destroys any ultrawide monitor? There is g9 neo (can be ultrawide, too) which is superior in hdr (in most aspects) than g7/g8 neo, so in many cases g9 neo isn't "destroyed" by alienware.

I got the g8 and there is noticeable black scan lines you can see on desktop icons worse then my 1440p g7 can also see them in game in bright scenes I'm really bummed...

Really? Try different modes. 120hz or 165hz. If it's still present. Disconnect all cables for 15min. Try that at least..

@@Legenkilla I'm definitely getting the M9, Even though The G7 looks good, I'm still skeptical about it's life span. I just can't trust Samsung after every display I've bought from them has had issues later on. I got a 27 inch Asus 1440p, and not once has it given me issues, but Samsung seems to always have issues. Not saying everyone will have that issue, but I always do. Curves are definitely a personal preference, You either hate it or love it. The only way to know for sure Is to try it out yourself, But for me it depends on the amount of curve, a 1800r curve is fine for me, but anything more is just too much. I still prefer flat monitors though.

Samsung's website has had the G7 out of stock for awhile now, if combining the 1100 "sale" price with student discount it gets down to 900, thats enough for me to pick it up and use while setting my 48CX aside for console duty. I've been wanting a 32" 4k high refresh for years but none have come out that I deemed worth going for until now. I still want a 32" 4k OLED at 240hz but I imagine we're probably in for another 2 years wait. The G8 can be had for $1100 with all the discounts but no way in hell do i want that heavy matte coating and higher degree of scan lines. The G7 can apparently be overclocked to 200hz as well with CRU, pretty interesting.

They are both top of the line. It's all about 16:9 or 21:9. They are the best in each format. No need to look for any other Ultrawide as the Alienware is the best. While the Neo G7 and Neo G8 are 16:9 kings. Get the aspect ratio you like more.. the Neo's can play in ultrawide also if you need that but it's not there specialty.

It's really about UltraWide vs 16:9. Thats it. Both are the best respectively right now. If you need more gameplay of each but same game in different formats I can work on some videos soon.

@@DisplayReality I'd rather 16:9 than ultrawide, BUT I have an original g7 I like it but the colors felt a step down from my previous 34gn850, and neither of those look nearly as good as my oled tv, so I would incline toward the alienware BUT the pixel density favors the neo g7 and idk how significant that is against the alienware.. you see I'm really struggling to decide and I live in argentina so buying and returning is not an option. Your input helps a lot

For pure pc gaming I'd get the alianwere, if you're worried about pixel density I can tell you that it's not an issue at all. You will get better performance in every game you play, perfect contrast and light control, better motion due to the instant pixel response and ultrawide is very imersive. If you plan on any console gaming though it's not ideal for that
