This is a good demonstration of how the science of manufacturing engineering has evolved. However, this huge gear can be manufactured easily, safely, at a lower cost, and with higher precision these days. It looks like a hustle, unsafe, and very dangerous to the workers! Appreciate the effort and coordination of the workers tho. Very nice.

Nice to see an old Webster & Bennett series D vertical boring mill being used to turn this Spur gear. This machine would have been produced in the late 40s to 50s so it's possibly 70 to 80 years old originating from Coventry in the UK. Many of this type of machine were sold to Indian Railways.

У нас из сёл многие мужики ездили в город на работу в литеках отливали тормозные барабаны, ступицы на небольшом предприятии типа такого. Хотя заводов тьма на Урале. И условия труда наверное не лучше.

Those metalurgical scientists from Pakistan are doing amazing jobs. They are able to prepare the very precise and accurate steel alloy with the carbon content in steel accuracy down to 0.00065%. And they do it with bare hands and mostly barefoot. Is the pijamas necessary to achieve this high quality casting material? No lab equipment or other BS is necessary.

They do appear to be recycling far better than we. Get metals hot enough, they will homogenize.

Yes, I think businesses in the west are far too pedantic about the quality, strength and safety of their metal products. And all the silly and over the top safety protocols costs gets passed on to the consumer. Safety in numbers appears to work well for them in Pakistan. Good for them.

What a hot steaming load of crap. .00065% You would need a spectrum analyzer to differentiate at that level, approximately one half pound in a part that weighs 1,000 lbs. Nope. Dream on.

Эта шестерня ещё и потом кого нибудь угробит. Марка получившейся стали - лотерея, количество поверхностных дефектов после токарки видно наглядно, и по нему можно судить, что внутренних дефектов не меньше - трещин, пустот, включений песка, эвольвента тоже весьма примерная, как итог у такая шестерня спокойно может заклинить, размотать ось или банально зуб оторвётся

I would not be so sure... their ancestors made the steel for damascus swords, and his grandparents learned modern metalurgy from the 19th english, who were badasd... but surely it takes them ten times as long to make the gear...
