I was picked by my peers to ride on the Alhambra 2017 Rose Parade Float for my city. I have worked for the fire department for 31 years. The theme for the float was Fire Department. It was one of my greatest experiences. We stood on the float for 4 hours waving and saying hi to thousands of people. Guess what song they played over and over and over? You guessed it, MY HERO!

The Foos always have great videos, to my mind the best one is for the song "Walk". The video is an amusing parody of the movie "Falling Down" and is well worth watching. The song is great too :)

According to Dave Grohl, the song is dedicated to ordinary, everyday heroes, as he himself never had musical or sports heroes growing up as a child. During Foo Fighters' appearance on VH1 Storytellers in 2009, Grohl explained that the song was written while watching 1980s movies like Valley Girl. Grohl also stated that the song was written about Pete Stahl and Chip Donaldson, without even knowing it. Many people think that the song is about Grohl's close friend and former Nirvana band-mate Kurt Cobain, in 1997, Grohl said, "There's definitely an element of Kurt in that song". In a 1999 interview on The Howard Stern Show, co-host Robin Quivers said "I think it is about Kurt Cobain," to which Grohl replied, "Hmm, maybe.

This was the only Foo Fighters video which featured guitarist Franz Stahl who had been in a band called Scream, which had Dave Grohl on drums prior to the latter joining Nirvana. Stahl didn't play on the recording, that was Pat Smear and didn't make it onto the subsequent Foo Fighters album "There's nothing left to lose" because the band couldn't get a groove going with him, it simply didn't fit. So exit Stahl.
