I really enjoy sneaky little cool things that other clever weasels do in the car audio thing: the slightly off axis mounting locations are using space and position quite nicely in a limited area spot, but the contour of the door panel exploited to arrange a nifty little spread of a third of the tweets and get an upward angle dispersion...and in a plain and non customized functional type setting. This is the stuff that makes an outstanding soundstage if combined properly with other tidbits, and I love seeing a common challenge bring out the best in us with very similar mentalities😇

If you are loading down an alternator so hard it is causing belt slip you are standing a good chance of melting the alternator.

Lots of great things about this build, but 43 hz tuning is too high for my tastes. This will certainly make it loud AF, but its not going to be as musical. I prefer a tuning of 28-32 hz... but then again, I lean towards SQL vs. SPL, plus I'm a deep bass freak. All depends on what your trying to achieve I guess. Their will always be tradeoffs.

@@1mL0ud3r The 18" sub I have in my truck is tuned to 30.5 hz. Decently low. But I know of car subwoofer setups tuned to lower than that. And many home stereo systems are tuned to 20 hz and even lower. 43 hz us getting up towards the cabin gain peak of many vehicles. This makes for loud, but peaky, and not very musical bass

And again, for a standard ported enclosure, 43 hz would be tuned quite high, but in cases like this the port tuning functions more as the high frequency rolloff point for the enclosure and has little bearing on how low the enclosure itself will play. That would be determined by the sealed chamber resonance of the sealed portion of the enclosure.

I thought that was all I needed to know. I guess a 4th order is "a bit" more technical. Sealed and ported, working together.

Hell ya. I had 2 18s and 2 15s that were plexi ported to the rear deck with pvc aiming right at the rear window of my old caddy fleetwood. I was sponsored by a local glass company because i would shatter my rear window especially with Real M@thaf@cking Gs by Easy E track. I can imagine how it would of sounded today,(if i still had that set up) with the newer music that is also bass heavy.

How did this guy get the tesla battery pack to work with this system? The smallest pack ive seen is 24v. I guess you could use a converter but that would probably bring it to 12v instead of 12.7- 12.9v. Does anybody have any good guesses?

Power handling is dictated by the coil primarily, and I agree that I have never seen a 4" coil that will tolerate the temps generated by 10kw RMS, especially in a first gen 9900 motor on an 8 spoke basket's suspension. It couldn't possibly cool itself to take that kind of continuous power.
