This is very much how American companies, in particular, work. A company I worked for operated in like this: they had a huge staff turnover. When I was there, the department I was in had 55 staff, when I left after three years I was one of only 4 people who were still then when I started. Some positions have turned over multiple times, including managers. American companies or American company style companies are to be avoided like the plague

You would lose them. No working rights or human rights and no where to go for justice voice to be heard The unions would battle like hell but we require the majority to become a member of a union and when required to walk with the unions the majority do that. The UK bill of rights be it from Tories or Reform will not be worth the paper it is written on will be no where close to the ECHR. What is more they will change it to what suits them at a whim. Have to ask one self what government would want their citizens to have no human rights bigger questions why? Who will does that serve? They will be given the freedom to do what the hell they like. Will be hell for workers not for them they will do very well indeed. First thing they will do is cut corporate tax down to practically nothing and take away what they call red tape that means workers rights and well being. Never give up ECHR.

It is not that simple, but the Manual Handling Regulations were introduced in 1993, based on a European Directive. They were very little different from previous UK guidance (if people actually read it properly), although they have been improved since. If an employee is injured from an unsafe system of work the employer would be responsible both criminally and civilly. I am not aware of how HSE guidance has altered since Brexshit if at all.

And you don't have to be a union member or union rep to service on a Health and Safety Committee in Ireland - they are staff representatives, though most are union reps. The term smug is an adjective that describes a person who is highly self-satisfied, often in a way that suggests they are overly pleased with themselves or their achievements. This self-satisfaction can come across as arrogance or condescension, leading others to perceive the smug individual as lacking humility. The word has its roots in Low German, where “smuck” means neat, and it has evolved over time to take on its current meaning.

Workers are Ants/drones and they have no respect for them or their safety as they can all be dismissed as there are others desperate for work who will take those jobs

Having worked in management, I know some of the tricks they use in these surveys. Small cohorts are commonly eliminated on the premise of protecting the employee from identification. Casual workers and workers on employment visas commonly answer positively for fear of their jobs or haven't been properly informed of their rights and WHS regulations. The big one of course is that a survey contractor who doesn't make the figures dance for the business, the people paying them, will find themselves not being re engaged but that company or others once word spreads.

With employment being as insecure, limited or competition for jobs high, many people often don't want or are afraid to complain openly. It is keep your head down and just get on with it. Or they won't progress in the job. Anyone who does speak out can be isolated or victimised. I've seen it countless times, and it can apply with private companies & public services. Managers such as these are complicit, and when something really bad happens. Often not accountable, of course. Meanwhile blacklisting is a thing for other workers doing the right thing and standing up for themselves and others.

I work at an amazon warehouse and I can tell you that 87% of people saying it's a good place to work means nothing. When you're rushing to start your shift and being asked these questions daily it means nothing, you just end up trying to get it off your screen so as to be able to start work as you need to keep up a certain pace. Most people also do not have to deal with injuries, so for the few who do, they wouldn't show up here either.
@david75228 сағат бұрын
These are automated questionnaire's that pop up when you log on to the computer. It is supposed yo be anonmous. However they feed back to managers and team leads telling them the nature of the feedback coming from their department. So groups that can be as large as a couple of hundred or as small as a few dozen. So its not uncommon for a manager who gets negative feeback on the questionaires to take it out on people on their team who they "think" might be giving the negative feedback. Also many simply dont answers the questions anymore. So that 83% she is boasting will be from those who bothered to respond.

Am I pushed hard to do the best I can do, of course yes, but I am supported in this (including being able to ask questions if I am unsure of stuff). Employees that are happier are more productive after all. There is no way that where I work would do as well if they didn't look after their staff. It's the blueprint of how companies should work, however unfortunately there are many out there (such as Amazon) who don't do this. Plus, not to mention that Amazon not paying their taxes (basing themselves in Luxembourg) is also another reason to boycott them. Unfortunately, not enough of the public is willing to boycott the likes of Amazon, Next etc to force them to improve their working conditions.

If 13% of amazon users stated they were dissatisfied what would Amazon regard as a good target. Did the lady have a heart attack, was she accommodated, was that accommodation withdrawn? The Amazon employee did not answer the question but just flanneled with buzz-words. American working conditions should not be permitted in the UK. Unionisation is a right in the UK surely. Free speech: Bezos shut down the opinion of the Newspaper he owns and blocked criticism of Trump, he then turned up with Trump and handed over a $1 Million to support the inauguration at a do where the terrorist thugs who attacked congress in 2021 were lauded and millionaires put their hands over their hearts as a faux anthem was sung on their behalf.
