This is for further in the run, but if you didn't already know: Roy's biggest buff is that he can be promoted with a Knight's Crest. He doesn't have to fall way behind all the other units as he waits on his promotion item.

Also, can we just take a moment to acknowledge that Sue hid a bow AND A WHOLE-ASS HORSE in her cell? Either that, or they just didn't separate them... which is equally ridiculous.

The best guess I have was that she stashed the horse under the rug XD. In all seriousness though to bring out my inner nerd… my actual best guess would be that they gave her a horse from the war convoy they would need to have plenty of extra horses for the war effort to pull all of the carts in shifts and also so the main army has other horses to ride in the event their horses get injured, sick or die. My guess is they had plenty of spare horses to offer her

I have a general rule when it comes to doors in Fire Emblem: Do not open them unless there is a cav or flier ready to rescue the thief and gtfo. It's okay man, I would have done the same. Losing Chad at this point really sucks. It's too bad about Lance and his sexy portrait, but now you have room for the full Zelot squad!

That's a great rule, which all FE players should have... unfortunately I couldn't resist the urge of waiting an extra turn lol. Very sad for Lance, but we have new cavaliers coming up right? lol

I was gonna try not abusing save states in Project Ember, but upon remembering how ambush spawn happy FE6 was I started taking more and allowing myself to use them if that was the issue.

Fun fact, the ambush in the south was triggered by getting merlinus out of there. I had to reset once as well and the 2nd time I did the same thing you did and trapped her, nothing spawned. Without a unit down there, they spawn earlier

It's interesting, when I play fe6 this is actually my favorite chapter, but thats because I've memorized the enemy spawns, and always felt comfortable resetting when I didn't know about the spawns since they come early on and I always made sure to have someone ready to rescue - but seeing you play it I can definitely feel the pain lol As a note for the future - since shanna is dead, it'll be a lot harder to get on the illia route later in the game - using sue and shin will put you on the sacae route, but remember that if either of them are dead you will not be able to complete the game and will instead get the bad ending. If by some means you get the illia route, do not let zealot (whom you recruit next chapter) die, as that will also lead to the bad ending. I forgot about this my first PE run and had to restart my entire playthrough 22 chapters in.

Dude, poor Chad. Surviving an avoidable mistake with panache only to be put to death by the game's unfair nonsense. I'm sure other people have/will mention that you would've gotten a replacement in chpt 8, but I approve of the reset, because Chad's our lad :3

LOL yeah Chad did everything right, but death still came for him. Yeah, I know that you get another thief on Chapter 8, but missing the chests on this map and on Chapter 7 would have sucked.

I don’t mind the updates to Sue. Old Sue if trained to level 20 would cap speed at 20, gets ~11 str and 17-18 skl. New Sue still caps speed due to her high base, and ~13 gets 16-17 skill. IMO trading 1 skill for 2 str is not bad, and fully trained 20>20 new Sue ends up stronger. Plus the increased starting stats just make her easier to start using.

I didn't thin about it that way, but what you're saying is very true after all. The one thing is I don't usually get my units to level 20 before promo, usually I do it between level 14 and 18 depending on the unit. I feel that beyond that, unless you use arenas, it's kind of just a lot of time and xp investment for very little gained compared to the stats upgrade you get from promos.

Oh I agree that Sue isn't worse, it's when you compare her to the insane buffs everyone else gets in Project Ember it feels like she got left behind. I get it though, because 3 range bows are insanely good, add a horse and promo with access to swords, and you can't give them huge buffs. With that said, I didn't look up or use Sin, but he looked strong.

I'd be okay with that sort of ambush if they popped out and that was their turn, but them just popping out and just being "surprise, motherfucker" and immediately get to attack whoever just happens to be in there? Yeah, that's bullshit. That feels like design specifically to frustrate the player. Which, I'm gonna say it, is just bad design imho.

I'm so used to playing FE6 that I know which areas ambush spawns come from, so it seems fair when i play, but actually seeing someone who doesn't know, yeah these are bullshit

I haven't played in like 6 years, so I fully blanked that out. To be fair, there are stairs in those rooms that should indicate a certain level of reinforcement, so it could have been more bs haha
