If people want to buy an electric car, that's great. If the next person is happy with their gas or hybrid vehicle, that should be fine as well. I don't believe in being forced to buy an electric vehicle because the government says so.

You're right. Price is everything to the consumer and EVs hit the market so overpriced that they were cost prohibitive to not people unless they were upper income. And to add to the pain, the tax credits for that class of buyers was a tax passed through to the moderate income taxpayer. Hybrids offer the best of both worlds with better range and Ford's Mavrick started out right as an economical option for the younger 1st time car buyer. People will always buy what they like and the Government don't need mandate beyond safety standards.
