I find him and James Andrews (a Chicago transplant to NYC on YT) very refreshing - neither one is a poseur and there’s a lot of that in the food world! But I also think that the same restaurants are covered over and over again. I’d like to see more examples of “food tubers” uncovering spots that few are aware of, and helping these worthy establishments succeed, places like the hard-to-describe “Cheburechnaya” in Rego Park, Queens and Vietnamese “Pasteur Grill” on Baxter Street in Chinatown come to mind! 🍴

Sadly, the OH has recently it's doors in Las Vegas, where it operated inside Caesar's Palace for years. Dined there on several occasions and always had a good steak dinner or in one visit for lunch, a great burger. It was the only high end steakhouse I'm aware that offered to cook your steak medium rare+, which was that fine line between medium & medium rare. I'll miss the professional service this establishment always provided.

I have been to Old Homestead in Manhattan several times though it's been a while since I have been there. I found the staff to be rude with no patience, the restaurant itself was very dark where we sat. The food was good but not the best I have had. Having said all of that, I was also at Old Homestead in Atlantic city. That restaurant was bright and modern and the wait staff was excellent and for some reason, even the food was better. It was a much more pleasant, all around experience.

The bread here is a perfect explanation of genetically modified wheat bread. The bran or the gluten or something in the wheat grain itself is modified genetically to make it literally as hard as steel (it's just porous and still supposes to be sold as a food product) so when you criticized katz deli bread for dissolving in your hands, correction, that's how bread should always be. Just go to any grocery store today and get a $1 French baguette, see how a metallic knife sings and sounds when u scrape it across these hard breads, but knives don't do that on meat. Or on soft fruit pulp, or on cooked vegetables. It's cuz metallic knife strikes a similarly (almost or basically as hard as metal) bread. Beware of gmo flour and bread. Good review I like your channel, hope you seen my katz deli comment from yesterday and can contextually understand this and that comment. This type of bread stays in your gut forever , and the katz deli bread if you ever find it , will be healthy probiotic and life giving bread, gives energy. These gmo breads take energy away. Any bread that is difficult to break up with your hands n you gotta tug is gmo bread. I noticed old establishments like katz and a few Mexican burrito spots that are OOOOLD have the soft grain wheat cuz that's what they used at first and never swapped out for the more modern genetically modified tough as steel bread you find from grocery store, fast food to all modern restaurants

That’s gotta be so cool eating at the oldest steakhouse in the country, and the food looked so tasty! At least you’ll have a lot of leftovers. 😂
@Iampatrix Жыл бұрын
I'm no expert but I know enough to see that that steak was well sourced, well aged, and trimmed expertly which can make a huge difference. It also looks like a standard blackening rub, which I do like, but not something to justify the price jump. Food looked good but not that price point good, it's still just a sirloin. I'd maybe pay that for a ribeye of the same quality as long as it had a full cap, but honestly I could throw together a really good sirloin meal out of my air fryer for way way less and be fine. I honestly don't notice too much of a taste difference in expensive cuts versus moderate priced meats when aged (excluding Walmart meat which is awful) except for a good bone in ribeye. Other than that I find most other cuts a waste of money except for the occasional legit porterhouse, which I can't even find here in California anymore. Regardless love your reviews as always, I tune in every time.
@uaeats Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your continued support! I do agree that top sirloin is usually cheaper so it was a bit overpriced, but the place is a famous steakhouse and it's in a very touristy part of town so it's not unexpected.

@UA Eats far as I can tell you give really honest reviews but also factor in the environment. This was over priced but looked like an awesome foodie spot and you pretty much said that, which is exactly the info we need. I'll pay a bit extra for good food with some fanfare, but I don't want to go somewhere mediocre that overcharges and treats me poorly.
