Hi Tim, Thank you for your well balanced review of Peter Luger in Brooklyn. I’m a recent subscriber to your channel but I have watched your videos before. My friend and I used to go almost every week. I had my first credit card from their restaurant as they did not accept bank credit cards. We used to ask to eat upstairs where we had two regular waiters ,Otto and Werner Once when we finished eating and they asked if we wanted dessert we said Yes, another double steak. When they served us the second steak, we saw several other waiters looking at us. Asking Otto what was going on and he said in the history of the restaurant no one ever ordered two double steaks back to back. Werner came back to the table with a new order of French Fries which he proudly said was "on the House".

Woah! They really do a great job with the porter house. That would be such an epic meal and I would have loved to see their reactions! I really did enjoy the service there… they all have their unique charm. I had to order the porterhouse (for two) as that’s the smallest size it comes in and totally expecting to pack up what I couldn’t finish, but was surprised I finished it - it was so good and loved the contrast between the tenderloin and striploin. Really impressed on your dessert!!!!

Tim, first time commenter. I enjoy your reviews as they are well-paced and your demeanor and voice add to the ambiance of your videos. Your payment predicament is the primary reason I avoid this restaurant (I live in Brooklyn nearby); they do not take credit cards, which is an enormous hassle for the customer. I have travelled to far-flung places such as barely inhabited islands in Thailand, where ramshackle roadside food stands take Mastercard/Visa. There is no reasonable excuse for why a pricey, well-known steakhouse in New York City does not take credit cards. None. The payment issue at the end of the meal would have completely ruined the experience for me, despite how good the food, service and ambiance were.
@TimLeeLetsGo5 күн бұрын

It's an old and quiet area, perfect for eating quietly without having to yell at each other. The steak looks good and so do the baked potatoes. The only thing missing is sauces such as mayonnaise or bbq sauce. But other than that, it looks very good and tasty. And if there is any leftover, you can eat it later in the day on bread or in a salad. Appelstrudel yummy with Whipped cream In German it is called Schlagsahne lol. And the coins are given to children here, it's chocolate coins and this is in the Netherlands at Sinterklaas and in German at Christmas.

So I am a diehard Peter Luger fan and I am ecstatic you had a great experience but I wonder if a lot of your experiences at most restaurants are a bit atypical since the staff knows you are recording? I remember watching a few of your previous reviews and you already knew the names of the staff, so I am wondering since the waitstaff knows you are recording, are they are putting their best foot forward with service as well as the food?
@TimLeeLetsGo5 күн бұрын
Yeah, many times that is the case. After going in restaurant, I do ask if it’s okay to take pictures and videos but don’t mention anything about KZbin; but with the camera present, it’s hard to get a “typical” experience. However, I’m happy to say that while I was there, Youn and Catalin were consistently serving guests in the same manner. Though I suspect they were a bit more courteous when my card was declined.😉

I got very hungry watching you eat that yummy meal. I live in NY, never ate at Peter Lugar, not a meat lover.

It was quite a nice experience… Understand there’s a bit of tourist premium, but it was a lot of fun. The burger was absolutely delicious.

Tim, with respect, I don't think you can say that your experience is the same as the NYT critic's experience, given that you have a camera in front of you. I think most servers will treat you extra well when they can plainly see that you are a youtuber.
@TimLeeLetsGo6 күн бұрын
Oh, I totally agree… There’s no way of hiding the camera and yes… Many times they do go out of their way

Good Morning I’m going to Lugers since 80s it never disappoints of course there are other great steakhouses but this place never disappoints 🤓

I really enjoyed it as well. You know you’re getting the classic steakhouse meal and they certainly delivered.

The porterhouse and potatoes are always wonderful at Lugers

That was one of the best porterhouse steaks I’ve had. I am very curious about the french fries though.

That was definitely on the table, but apparently a Canadian doing dishes would have violated some US labour laws😁

I really did enjoy it… great atmosphere from the servers and probably the best burger and porterhouse I’ve had.

Hey Tim, What is your recommendation for foods in Toronto? My family are planning to go there by end of the year. Thanks!
@barbaracoffey1245 күн бұрын
Among other criticisms, Pete Wells said the servers were rude and the prices were exorbitant. Three years earlier Luger also had their Michelin star taken away, not by Pete Wells. Wells would have come in anonymously with no camera set up. This vlog review would have been better without the continual harping about how wrong Wells was. Makes it sound like a paid commercial.
@TimLeeLetsGo5 күн бұрын
Fair enough… it’s very different with a camera and there’s no hiding it… They tend to put their best foot forward. The bill was hefty though!

Thank you so much and really love the great places in Australia. The quality is second to none and I remember years ago we went to a great place called cavills in the Gold Coast… One of the most memorable stake meals I’ve had

Luckily for me and the restaurant, I wasn’t allowed to wash any dishes (US labor laws and such). While I don’t think I supposed to say, they do take credit cards under extraordinary circumstances. I absolutely hate being in those situations where I couldn’t figure out a way to pay….

I have to agree that an anonymous food critic is far different than you and all your camera angels. The food looked awesome and bill was wow. How many buffets could you buy with that kind of cash. But it was an historic place. How many gangsters dined their.
@TimLeeLetsGo6 күн бұрын
Good eye! It was a hefty bill. Going in I was kind of expecting a premium price.

Tim, why you leave us hanging!?! We need a resolution! 😮 🤦🏻♀️ Sue
@TimLeeLetsGo7 күн бұрын
Oh, I don’t think I was able to see it on the video. Under extenuating circumstances like Canadians without cash, they do take the odd credit card here and there.

I think the German potatoes look like a good succulent potato variety to have with a steak, the french fries will look and good but the idea of some dry potatoes I just cooked a really nice steak and all I've got is a microwave potato ha ha
@TimLeeLetsGo5 күн бұрын
It was tempting to get the fries, but all the portions are meant for two… So it might’ve been too much. Oh I could sure use a good steak right now and potatoes with lots of butter.

Disregard the negative review, Peter Lugars is great, good service and the porterhouse is the best in New York with Delmonico’s a close second!
@TimLeeLetsGo7 күн бұрын
Oh!!! Delmonico’s? 😋
@joecommentator3207 күн бұрын
Yes, have you been there? They were closed all throughout covid, and reopened within the last year. Very good, however Lugars is our must go whenever we are in New York. Enjoy your time there. From an enthusiastic subscriber 😊
@skatingcanuck98377 күн бұрын
Hi Tim. I think there is some issue with your video. The audio automatically goes to German and when I try to adjust it none of the options are English. When I exited the window and typed youtube, and TIM LEE the video was in English, but that was a strange experience.
@TimLeeLetsGo7 күн бұрын
Thanks so much... I'm just reaching out to KZbin at the moment. They were kind enough to offer an experimental feature where it automatically creates different audio tracks. Try reloading or if you can, select the English Audio track. I'm just on the chat with their support team at the moment.
@skatingcanuck98377 күн бұрын
@@TimLeeLetsGo Did you get it fixed Tim? Perhaps you could put it in the comments or add a caption to exit the window and open a new one if the audio issue happens. I hate to see your video not get its deserved views.
