Iam Tongi's music career is already off to a superstar start! The "American Idol" winner shared with Access Hollywood after Sunday's finale how he was processing the big news and he got a little help from judge Lionel Richie, who crashed the interview with some friendly wisdom. Iam also reflected on what he thinks his late dad would say about his "Idol" run and tells Access that he feels like he's "dreaming" after being crowned the Season 21 champ.

You took the words right out of my mouth, Zenobia. I also routed for him from the get go with his awesome audition of singing Monsters. I also lost my father as a child. Hearing that beautiful voice and the powerful words to that song had me crying uncontrollably. Iam doesn't have a powerful voice like most singers but his voice is pure and comes from the heart. I will be 66 in a few days and my dad's b-day would have been this past Saturday (5/20). I still tell him today in my prayers how very much I love him and miss him. I have listened to Iam sing Monsters over and over and over and remember the wonderful memories of my beloved father 🥰. I, also have enjoyed every song that he has performed. I think Iam has touched the world because he is so real with his feelings and all his performances mean something special to him. He isn't just singing out words to a song...he is singing out words from his heart. The one thing I didn't understand from you, Zenobia, was when you wrote that on "female money doesn't change..." Sorry but not sorry I knew this the same way I knew ruban studdard was going to win. His fan base was crazy off the chains slayed every performance but mostly here it is was consistent through this whole process never changed stayed true to who he was and mostly taught us all about family close nitt family friends means all. His heart took over America Hawaii is now a house hold name. This is still overwhelming mom dad brothers sisters are most important to any one. But don't through your family away cause of differences. People work it out. Life is way to short. Ask me my whole family disowned me so seeing family first. Gave me my heart back.
