Slipknot is kind of THE metal band almost every metal fan has embraced, and because they cross genres and touch on those primal emotions that we can all relate to, they are VERY prolific. 100% I think you should check out a few more of their tracks. They’ve also been around for years, and they have a multitude of different sounds. I’m positive you’ll find some that suit your tastes. Their early career is more harsh and thrashy, while the new is more melodic but refined. The one thing that Slipknot is, is pure. The music hits different when it’s pure, and they have the skills to keep their spot at the top of the NuMetal podium. Enjoy!

So any of him beating a metal keg or oil drum in a video he does for real during performances. This has generally done his wrists and hands in early, but he still gives 100%. The band are a 9 piece unit with a storied and dramatic history, consisting of :- Lead man, Corey Taylor Two guitarists (lead and rhythm) Bass guitarist Drummer 2 Percussionists including Shaun "Clown" Crahan. Our fandom name is Maggots. Also, thank you so much for being willing to check them out despite having a prejudice view of them initially. That shows great maturity on your part. Rock and Metal have a very undeserved amount of prejudice against them as being evil, violent, satanic or just straight up noise when that couldn't be further from the truth. It's the same as someone saying all rap is about h*es, drugs and gang stuff over the same recycled beat when we all know that's not true either. Rock can be energetic (Metal/Thrash), have hip hop elements (Nu Metal), slow (bluesy, power ballads, ect) and so much more. It's so much more than just noise and aggression. It can be beautiful, heartbreaking and emotive. It's simply a different way of expression. I hope you continue a deeper dive into this genre. I see you have a good head on your shoulders and can come to truly appreciate the skill needed in this genre (vocals, lyrics, instruments, composition, ect.). Some songs I recommend to check out: Alter Bridge - Blackbird, Metallica - Fade to Black, Alice In Chains - Would, Slipknot - Snuff, and Audioslave - Like A Stone should be a good starting point.

⛔️ Long comment ⛔️ (I have Asperger’s) Great reaction and a great 1st Slipknot choice. I’m a 41 yr old born again Christian metal head who started really getting into metal in the mid ‘90s so I feel like I can be a good resident metal ambassador to this channel, as I also love hiphop. Metal and hiphop are the most masculine-testosterone-driven genres of music, lots of machismo. Both genres started in the ‘70s and the band most credited for the origination of metal, Black Sabbath, got their inspiration from a horror movie with the same name. So that’s why you’ll find a lot of creepy, scary stuff in metal, but even that is just a fraction of what you’ll find. The genre has evolved and branched out over the decades. Metal from a sonic standpoint is really all about the guitar riffs and the drum beats. The more adrenaline pumping riffs and beats the better the metal in my opinion. Some bands are more repetitive than others and utilize hooks and other bands are more into the technical side of musicianship, playing hard and/or fast pieces of music with lots of changes, so beware of that. Not all metal sounds the same, although it might at first lol. I don’t think Slipknot are devil worshippers. Is there a lot of devil worship in metal? Sure, but mostly with underground bands I’d say, but it’s hard to say who’s doing it for real and who’s just doing it for the shock-effect. So, you’ll find a lot of horror elements in metal, not every band creates from that vibe however. A lot of metal bands are just all about adrenaline pumping energy and you’ll find a wide variety of topics in metal lyrics. It’s a very diverse genre, like hiphop, with different vibes for different moods or settings. But overall, metal is a dark, scary, and energetic style of music, but you’ll also find beautiful and uplifting metal. Besides horror movies, metal was originally inspired by blues, rock, classical, jazz, and then punk was introduced to metal and this where you get thrash and the more pissed-off drill sergeant style vocals. Pretty much every genre has been mixed with metal. Just as the krump style of dance manifested in hiphop, metal has its own high-powered energetic, violent style of dance. It’s a sight to see a whole pit of people doing karate ninja moves all to the beat next to each other, it looks like a gang fight. You see this more at metalcore, hardcore, and deathcore shows because these sub-genres have a lot of breakdowns (which originated with funk & hiphop) than at regular metal or thrash shows, where at the latter you’ll find a more pushing and shoving style of dance. I’m too old and out of shape for that now but I’ve gotten my dance moves on in several pits growing up. I’m more of a metalcore guy. Slipknot is considered nu-metal which is a rap-inspired sub-genre of metal, but they incorporate thrash metal, death metal, and dabble in metalcore. Pantera is more groove-metal but both bands are legendary in the metal community. As for more Slipknot songs to checkout, Psychosocial is another good one for newbies. My personal favorite album of theirs is their self-titled debut album from ‘99. The 1st track on that is just a 30 second creepy/eerie clown sounding piece of music, but tracks 2 thru 6 are all great in my opinion. Tracks 4, 5, & 6, “Wait and Bleed”, “Surfacing” and “Spit It Out” are good for newbies. Surfacing and Spit It Out have turntable scratching. As the releases become more recent they’ve evolved to incorporate more melody and singing. For a Pantera introduction, I’d say “Cemetery Gates” or “Cowboys From Hell” would be good songs to start with. This comment is more than long enough so I’ll stop here.

When you're stressed out and exhausted, at your whits end, and you pinch the bridge of your nose and you rub your eyes with your index finger and thumb (Push your fingers into your eyes). This song is about stress, dealing with stressful situations. "Its the only thing that slowly stops the ache, and it's made of all the things i have to take, jesus, it never ends, it works its way inside, if the pain goes on, I'm not gonna make it" It's all about how he's not coping with the stres, and it's making him angry, frustrated, irritable, but also tired, indifferent and hopeless. It's a duality, to care so much and yet so little, to just want things to be over. Slipknot's music conveys emotion more than anything else. Anger, sadness, stress, rebellion, hate, self loathing, terror, but also confidence, hope, love and elation. There are so many songs in their catalogue, and each conveys the emotion perfectly.

I was in this video! March 2003. Crazy to think that I was a couple weeks from turning 19, and here I am all these years later pushing 40. Some fun facts: 1. Casting call for the extras was placed in the Des Moines, IA newspaper. Out of the literal thousands who came and applied, only 400 of us were called to be extras. One kid legitimately flew from England, and Corey caught wind of this. He ended up inviting the kid to stay at his house while he was in the States. 2. All the house and yard damage was real. This was filmed at a house under renovation in a West Des Moines neighborhood. The owners were gracious enough to loan the house to the band for the video, but no one anticipated the cold rainy late March weather and by the time filming was done, the yard was an absolute mud pit. Over the course of 16-17 hours, we absolutely destroyed damn near every inch of the property to the point that Slipknot ended up having to buy the house. We absolutely destroyed it. 3. The party that ensued the night before as all of us fans converged on the bus pickup site (West Valley High School) was absolutely legendary. Crazy 24 hours. Next to the birth of my kids and the day I got married, this is one of the greatest days of my life. Also had cool personal moments with each band member, including those who are no longer with us today. Now if you'll excuse me, this whole thing's got me feeling incredibly old now that I'm realizing this shit was 20 years ago...

Also the members of slipknot have done many interviews on how disgusting the masks can get, especially in their early career they were notorious for not washing them between shows and the smell was disgusting. I saw them at ozzfest 99 when they came through Vancouver and they were insane, 9 guys all on the B stage just going crazy.... they were terrifying and mesmerizing at the same time. ETA slipknot fans are called Maggots... Clown came up with the name I believe when he looked out at the writhing mass of the fans and thought they looked like maggots on a carcass. As for another slipknot song Id say almost anything off their 1st album. But maybe sic, surfacing or wait and bleed specifically

Saw slipknot at Big Day out 2005 in Melbourne it was insane. But I must say Mudvayne in 2001 was more insane, they were put in a small tin shed which held maybe 1000 people, people were crawling up the walls lol

Snuff (Acoustic) by lead singer of SLIPKNOT Corey Taylor. It will take You to completely different angle of his range. And after this... I'm not kidding... Corey Taylor Spongebob Squarepants Live in London. It will give You a different perspective on the metalhead community - we all just sweet teddy bears inside.

If you want to hear Corey rap listen to "Spit it out" and "Nero Forte". The live version of "Spit it out" from 2009 is one of the greatest life profomances you will ever see. Keep on reacting!!!

Yes to both but I haven’t seen anyone else say Nero Forte. I think they would love it!

@@HK_8 I agree, Nero Forte is a much more refined controlled version of Corey's voice.

The name given to slipknot fans is "maggots". Tech N9ne actually references this in the song Like I Ain't. Where he says "Tryna ride all the way up to my homie in Slipknot (maggot)".

Every member of Slipknot changed their masks every album cycle but both guitarist Mick Thomson and Jim Root masks don’t changed usually it’s minor changes. Their are nine members of slipknot starting with number 0-8 and their they show their numbers on their jumpsuits. Its symptoms started in 2010 while touring with his other band Murderdolls, but the disease was diagnosed long after. This progressed to the loss use of his left leg. The neurological disease had temporarily cost him the use of his legs and caused him to be unable to play the drums before rehabilitation. He recovered with the aid of medical help and physical therapy. Percussionist and backing vocalist Chris Fehn #3 Chris left the band in 2019, Chris’s mask has a long nose like Pinocchio. Percussionist/backing vocalist Shawn Crahan #6 A.K.A. Clown because he wears a clown mask. Sampler/synthesizer and keyboardist Craig Jones #5 Craig mask is black with long needles pointing out if it. Craig never talks, he doesn’t talk to media/interviews, he even doesn’t talk to other members of the band. Vocalist Cory Taylor said in a interview the reason why Craig doesn’t talk is because that who he is, a guy that can speak but doesn’t, Cory Taylor also said this when Craig does talk it’s scary because he will be right behind you and you don’t even know he’s their and Cory said when Craig speaks you listen and the band gave him the nickname the quiet one. DJ/Turntables Sid Wilson #0. The three new Slipknot members don’t have numbers.

Speaking of the masks, Corey Taylor scratched his eye because one of his original masks had dreads and it would hit his eye when he was headbanging. If you want to hear how good Corey is at singing, check out his live acoustic version of "Snuff." And he can metal rap amazingly well in "Spit it Out."

12:23 the crazy thing is, every show they do, they stop the crowd like this before hitting REALLY hard they get crowds of like 100k to just…chill for a second…you should do a react to their song “spit it out” live and the music video

I really wish you’d watch an interview about slipknot. They’re absolutely amazing humans. No matter the image they portray. Corey doesn’t drink has kids. Has nephews that have there own band that’s amazing taking on the same type of music. It’s beautiful.

Loved this reaction. I mostly listen to rap but I love some hard rock. Anything that goes hard and hypes me up is my go to. I love their song Wait and Bleed.

Just for clarification, the fingers in the eyes thing is just lyrical imagery for when you like put pressure on your eyes or bridge of your nose when you have a headache. Not like literally shoving your fingers violently into your eyeballs.
@dhaddine5472 Жыл бұрын
I dunno … sometimes putting pressure directly on the eyes helps. Not forcefully obviously.

The “all I’ve got is insane” is about everything people suffering in chronic pain have to deal with… my best friend is a beautiful Danish woman who has CRPS, & is in constant pain… she cried when she heard this song, she said it’s a perfect description of what she goes through…

The video has been on there for 13 years, the _song_ is older than that, like early 2000s. And 'push my fingers into my eyes' is when you rub your eyes with your fingers instead of the heels of your hand.

The actual song and video was released 2004. So 19 years ago ;)

I grew up on the DIY Hardcore Punk stuff so never tapped into Slipknot either. This is one of my favorite things about the channel. Chillin and checkin out stuff you've never seen and I've never seen before lol. It's a cool way to see stuff I missed back in the day and tap in to new stuff that I would otherwise never be exposed to that's newer.

Got to let your in chaos out sometimes, silent aggression spoke for us. Saying the things your truly thinking but held back, it's a drive to keep you going, upping the tempo of your life, basically telling you to focus.
