Egg and soldiers is a uniquely British breakfast consisting of a soft boiled egg with toast cut into strips (soldiers) for dipping into the runny yolk. Lovely stuff.

Handy tip!! Put salt and pepper on your soldiers rather than your egg so you won’t to have to top it after every dunk.❤

To all of you who complain about Connor not getting the jokes - don't you realise this is the way to learn? There's so much British slang in these and many people around the world don't understand it. Watching it with someone actually asking questions helps many get the jokes who otherwise wouldn't. Kerp up the good work and open mind Connor!

A todger is one of many British slang words for a penis, so popping one between, "two floury baps" (i.e. bread rolls) would make it look, to the Spaniel, as if it were a hotdog. Your other questions I think have already been answered. Keep up the reactions please, Connor, and ignore the ruder people below the line in the comments. I, for one, enjoy them and I am not alone.

I don't think prewatching should be taboo. If someone prewatches and uses the opportunity to create some well informed and considered commentry on the original video surely that's a good thing? But I suppose it starts to blur the line between reaction video and video essay.

Do you know that the first american to win the Victoria Cross was from Maine and was named William Seeley? He joined the Royal Navy when he became stranded in Hong Kong. He participated in the siege of Shimonoseki in 1864 when he obtained the highest british honour for valor in battle and rescuing his officer. Eventually he retaired in USA again after being discharged from the Royal Navy.

Not sure, but I think Kraut for German probably goes back earlier than WWII. It's from sauerkraut, German pickled cabbage.

Krauts comes from Sauerkraut (pickled cabbage). It's pre WW2. Kraut literally means 'cabbage'. 'Soldiers' with an egg are strips of toast that are usually dipped into the egg yolk.

Rolling Rs: I had to go through this as I was living in France and trying to lose my English accent while speaking French! Start with saying "huh" before trying to make the rolled R sound, like "huh-ruh!". It helps you kind of bounce onto the sound better and it gets easier over time.

Having a patient with a thick german accent in a British field hospital wouldn't be that unusual, in WWI Britain and Germany had agreed via a convention on the rules of war (i believe it was the Hague convention) that both sides should care for and treat the other sides wounded, this is why hospital ships had a very striking livery of all white and covered in red crosses and attacking a hospital ship was an unforgivable crime.

Many of the top stars of comedy and straight acting too, including Stephen Fry, went to Cambridge University (as did I) and were members of the acting and comedy society there called, ‘Footlights’. Obviously, there’s a massive rivalry between Oxford and Cambridge so for those in the know the joke about Hull being a great University (which is very far from the truth) and Oxford being a complete dump (which is 100% true) is very funny. 😎👍

Boiled egg for breakfast. Place the egg upright in an egg cup. Slice off the top of the egg with a knife, exposing the golden yolk. Served with buttered toast cut into strips, known as "soldiers". Pick up a soldier and dip into yolk, before consuming. 🙂
