The Leaders of the German-Military-Party wore "Ocker". The correct one is: “pale yellow”. The lower Rank was dark-Ocker, which is a darker "Senf-Gelb" (Mustard Yellow). But we agree it can be described as "brown". The rest wore Black. The Pencil was actually made as a "German Pencil". The other ones are Rainbow-Pencils. But indeed will the black, red, yellow turn brown when you Kritzel-Kritzel on the paper. The interesting thing is, the Communists wore the same Green as the USA. 🙂

As a helper in a voting location, I can say that there were many people who had trouble folding that giant thing back together again. For all the non-germans, we had 34 parties to choose from, and the paper ballot was about half a meter long. You had to fold it in half, then the folds for the next steps became more clear. Keep that in mind for future elections.

@Finsternis.. Yes, they are folded, but when people unfold it, they rarely pay attention to the way it is folded. So after they studied the sheet of paper, and sometimes wrote a comment, or crossed off every party, they can't remember how it was folded, when they got it. (Yes, this happens. I've seen people write their name on it, because it said "Name" above the candidates.)

The elections we had were the European (parliament) elections. In contrast "Bundestagswahl" would be German national (parliament) elections. The ballot for the European election in Germany was huge, featuring 34 parties to choose from. You can find a picture of it e. g. on Wikipedia "2024 European Parliament election in Germany". The meme about folding it was eluding to how you were handed that huge/long ballot paper in a folded state, and it could be tricky to fold it up "correctly" the way it was after you're done making the vote. (It's certainly more relatable for people who had that thing in-hands themself.)

wow, did not even think of that. I live in Luxembourg and we had only 6 Parties to choose from. But we HAVE to go vote by law, a fact that allways adds another aspect to all the discussions and election compaign before hand. You won't find any posters encouraging to even take part. (But there's no real lagal persecution if you don't. But with being forced to vote, some people hate that and may make their voice "not count" by invidualizing their sheet with insults or using a red pencil symbolizing blood (or even real blood).

@@Finsternis.. somehow. You have of course the right to give back an empty or unconform vote, but yes, you have to participate (unless you are minor, mentally unable or over 70 (still optional then). So forcing people that would usually not have a political opinion to take part in the elections could still be an issue. Like people may just give voices to the candidates they have heard of as a person, that present nicely, that are e.g "that former classmate of their kid" etc. without necessarily being aware of their political programs. Maybe more so than in other systems. I'm still unsure whether to find the mandatory voting a good or a bad thing.

"Explodierer" is a very germanized way of "boomer" (because boom like explosion). The german meme subreddit has the rule to write EVERYTHING in German. Even if you mean an English word, you translate that into German no matter how stupid it sounds. For example, reddit becomes Lasses. (As in "I have read it" which translates literally to "Ich laß es"). It's just a german meme thing. (Also memes are translated to MaiMai's. Because reasons.)

0:13 Being invited to a friend's house as a kid. For dinner they put plenty of food on the table. "You can wait in Jonas' room till we finished dinner." Many families in my childhood sent their kid's play dates home before dinner or wouldn't let them join family dinner unless agreed otherwise with their guest's parents. Luckily my mum and most of my friends' parents weren't like that but just rang each other before they started cooking asking if the other parents had any plans for dinner or if their kids could join the family dinner.

Trucks are limited to 90 kmh with a limiter in europe. But between trucks the limiter might have a small difference of 1 or 2 kmh in top speed. So if trucks overtake eachother they generally do so with a 1 or 2kmh difference blocking the highway for 10 minutes. And that creates an elephant race between the trucks.

Explanation for the "Autobahn" one: Trucks aren't allowed to drive faster than 80 Km/h, which is 49 Miles (around 50). A lot of Trucks are driving around 85, sometimes 89, even overtaking other Trucks which would be called "Elefantenrennen" (Elephant race). So Overtaking a Truck with aroun 100 could lead to internal rage by people who are driving 150, 160 or even 250 and need to break for that person 😀 And the same could be applied to the Truck. A lot of Highways/Autobahn are only two lanes. So everyone has to break from 120 to around 80 and waiting for the Truck to overtake and going to the right site 😀

@sebastianwittmeier1274
@sebastianwittmeier1274 3 ай бұрын
The AfD (politically comparable with a conservative Republican wing) got 15.9% and was second strongest. The overall vote was quite split into a lot of parties. Most times the European election has more left-leaning results, the general election is in overall balanced between left and conservative. This time the European election was balanced, too. Which meant around +6% to +7% boost to the conservative parties in total. The current Bundeskanzler is from the left-leaning SPD. So it also was a small protest sign by the voters, or a balance-of-power vote (vote in regional or European elections against the ruling party from the general elections.) The commentators made a big deal about it. The only special thing is that the times are over, when the political right had below 5% in Germany in total. It was always a specialty in Germany, but got more prominent after Merkel's and her party's move to the center and years of Grand Coalition governments. Politically Germany had immigrants before, e.g. from Italy or from Turkey. And German's international role, e.g. how to deal with Russia was questioned before. The same for industry vs. environment. I personally do not believe that the topics and the leanings of the people have changed so much. Only the times are over, when 2 or 3 parties (Volksparteien) represented the spectrum. And if you go back further in Germany's history, you find more parties again. So it was a special time, when there were few parties, not now, when there are more parties.

1st: - Being a guest at your friends house in your childhood - At noon, there's a hearty/yummy meal being served - You can wait in Jonas' room until we've finished eating 5th: Me and my homies leaving today FOR SUPER EUROPE 9th: -It's good to restrict driving to not be faster than 160km/h on the autobahn -It's even better to voluntarily not drive faster than 130km/h -And the psychos on the autobahn like going 150, 250 even more, and obstructing traffic when overtaking trucks by going barely faster than them most (full r3tard) 10th: The multi-colored pencils dont leave a true mix of colours, you dont get the explosion of colours you might expect. The box with cookies (my assumption) would be that there's sewing stuff or similar in it, not actual sweets/cookies. These metal containers oft-times do not get thrown away and get used to store all kinds of stuff. So as a child you might see that, open it exitedly and get disappointed. No idea on the minecraft thing The spring board does not grant nearly as much lift as you expect 19th: The "oder" can be translated to "or", in other cases, but in this it would more appropriate to use "right?" I assumed Ubisoft has disappointed many times in the recent future, so the advice is to not pre-order their games and wait for reviews before buying. 23rd: Instead of "exploder", the author was probably going for "boomer" as a translation 24th: Sparkasse (lit. savings treasury) is a german bank 25th: It's a common bane on the autobahn that truckers, who are to drive in the right-most lane at 80km/h (truck speed limit) often overtake each other, blocking a second lane during a very lengthy overtaking process because of a very small speed difference. 3km/h is like half a persons walking speed. 26th: The meat in the bun is Leberkäse. It is a specialty of southern germany and consists of super finely minced pork, beef and bacon paste, formed into a loaf and than baked till it developes a crust. Bakeries often offer it and will cut off slices (like from a loaf of bread) and put into a bun (like a hotdog). The slice is about 1 inch thick or so and usually topped with mustard. It's a very simple, convinient and popular food to go for early in the morning before arriving at work or during lunchtime. Basically the guy is so rich, he bought the entire loaf.

4:06 On Sunday June 9th there was an European Union election. We voted the representatives for the European Parliament. The two big winners were the leading opposition party CDU (Christian Democratic Union) who got 29 seats and the right wing party AfD (Alternative for Germany) got 15. A lot of the first and second time voters (aged 16 to 25) voted for them. So there's clearly a right wing tendency amongst the younger folks who suffered the most during the Covid lockdowns and are especially disapointed by the current government. The Green party only got 12 seats. Aparently climate protection is seen a lesser priority since the start of the Ukraine war. People seem to focus more on national security.

For some more context on the election ("Wahl") topic. On 9th of June there was the european union election. We elect which parties we want to rule europe and unfortunatly, in germany, the most (but not the majority) of people elected AfD (far right/right extremists). And many elect the CDU (conservative right). And some of the memes refers to "Bundestagwahl", which is the major election in germany for the people who rule our country. So most of the memes say basically "we cry if the EU election outcome was the outcome of 'Bundestagswahl'" because this would result in a far right/extremist right and a conservative right Leadership of germany. We all have seen where this leads to around 100 years ago and most of us wont repeat it.

European trucks are required by law to have a speed limiter. So overtaking another truck with almost no speed difference is pretty pointless but it does block the passing lane for quite a while.

Personally I like it when someone is pronouncing "ä", "ö" and "ü" correctly. "ä" is pronounced an english "a" (e.g. like in the word "and") "ö" is pronounced like the "o" in the english word "word". "ü" is pronounced like the "u" in the english word "lurk(ing)" (bad example, but couldn't find anything better) Ö and Ü are very similar so another, so they don't make a difference. Also when german words are ending on an e, you have to pronounce it (looking at 4:35); and it's pronounced like an "ä" (ä and e mostly sound the same in german)

So this picture must have been taking when they *started* partying :D Another interpretations is that in Germany the rules are just more relaxed in general and younger people party more. That may be true, or it could be just more visible because they don't have to hide it.

17:17 In Europe Trucks with more than 3,5t max weight are allowed to reach a max. speed of 80kmph... but 89kmph are tolerated. So European trucks are technically limited to this speed. If one truck overtake an other, the speed difference is not too high which means it takes some minutes... In whole Europe this is ok, and usually the other drivers have the patience, but not in Germany... they honk and rage behind the truck😂😂😂😂

1:07 Its a german cliche that friends who come over arent supposed to join the dinner/lunch table bc the meal is supposed to be family-exclusive. They had to go home or wait alone in the friends room. It was quite common in german families until the 90s. Specially migrant families brought it up because they thought it was quite weird and offending to make a child wait alone in the room while eating. But also in white families it varies. I as a white 90s kid never experienced it personally and think its weird af, but know people who experienced it regularly.

so, my 2 cents on "Explodierer". The real meaning seems to be "Aufgeblasen", like in "aufgeblasenes Ego" or "aufgeblasener Typ", which is a big head, according to LEO. "Aufgeblasen" translates literally to "blow(n) up", so translated again "Explodieren" (to explode). Since a guy is meant, "Explodierer" (exploder?). Weird. No one says "Aufgeblasener". A snob or poser ("Angeber", "Wichtigtuer") would be alright. It seems to be translated 3 times back and forth with ChatGPT 0.1 and then you get "Explodierer"...

5:39 The inner meme is saying: Driving fast is cool but driving even faster is great. But those people who overtake trucks with 10 km/h difference and block the 2-lane Autobahn for minutes, those are the worst. Why? Because we cool kids can't drive 250 because of them. Now the outer meme saying that worldview is stupid makes much more sense. It's still not very clever to overtake trucks with 100 km/h, not even for the climate. Everybody still has to brake if they're being responsible and drive 130.
