OK, Argos. You're gonna hear this place referenced a lot by Brits and particularly British comedians, so it's an important frame of reference to understand! Argos is a chain store here in the UK, and I genuinely think it's a retail concept which is completely unique to us (Squirrel Squad, please correct me if you know different!) Argos is a huge store, probably in line with a Walmart or Target - somewhere you can buy pretty much anything as long as you don't want the very best quality. The difference between Argos and normal shops is that Argos doesn't let you see anything, try anything or look at anything in person until you've bought and paid for it. You order through screens in store and either pay there or pay a cashier, someone then fetches your item from a warehouse behind and gives it to you - this has literally just occurred to me now, but in today's age it's basically the equivalent of going to store to shop online there and collect your goods immediately. Sounds crazy, right? Back in the day before the touchscreens, you'd have to browse a HUGE catalogue they had nailed to the table, like a million laminated sheets of A4 in a big ring binder. If you wanted to look at something like HiFis or sporting goods which were generally towards the back of the catalogue, you had to be in pretty good shape to be able to shift the sheer heft of pages needed to get to that section. So that's Argos.

Jimmy Saville was sung about in your football chants video. At the time this was recorded it wasn't known what Saville was up to. He had a show in the 70's/80's called Jim'll fix it where kids would write in to the show with requests like Dear Jim could you fix it for me to ride a roller coaster while eating my lunch.

Argos is kind of like your Target, but no stock on display, you used to order from a catalogue in the 'front' & they'd bring it for you. Now it's online too: & also ordering 'machines' in the store are phasing out the catalogue.

Bank Holiday Mickey Monday today Squirrel (I know it is Memorial Day in the US so respect for that). I know it's been mentioned but JS was all over the place in the 70's/ 80's Jim'll Fix It, Top of the Pops, TV Ads and did his 'charity work' in hospitals or anywhere he could get. As a child I found him creepy. Anyway moving onto Mickey, we've all had that 'friend' who has 'travelled' the world on a shoestring budget, trekking through the remotest places wearing only sandals and a thong, living on mung beans and river water, learning to chant mantras in a Buddhist retreat, while crafting their own boat to navigate the waters back in the sweltering heat of the rainforest....and then there's the photos!! :-)

"Micky Flanagan at the comedy store" is probably what really kickstarted his career and I think it was filmed around 2009 / 2010 (i'm sure someone can give you the correct year / date). He was already about 46 / 47 years old before he found "stardom". So quite a late starter really.

Obviously back when Micky did this but at the comedy store, either late 90s or early 00s, nobody knew what a monster Jimmy Savile was. Jim’ll Fix It was just a show from the 80s and 90s that helped kids realise their dreams. Of course, we now know how twisted and horrific he was and what that show must’ve really been like

This was before people took the 'Jimmy is a nonce!' stories seriously.... I found out early, a girl at school's dad drove the high speed train Jimmy used for the 'this is the age of the train' ads [ 1980-81 ish ] and she went to meet him. "He's a disgusting man!" this girl reported and she turned out to be a lesbian. [ not open to his 'stardom' I guess ]

I knew a guy who thought he had struck lucky when he pulled girl at a local disco one night. On getting back to her place she proceeded to undress the bending over a chair she said, whip me”. My pal asked what with? She replied, your belt. So he took his belt off and gave her a gentle lash on the bum. She said, harder than that! So he really would it up. Well dogs barked and you could hear doors and windows being opened. After she had calmed down she said, You. . . Had . . . Better . . . Go . . . Now. Be careful what you wish for.

Jimmy Saville started as a dj, became famous for being eccentric, and presented a TV show called Jim' ll fix it, which realised ambitions for kids who wrote in. Hence the remark about wanting to be a van driver by a no hoper. After Saville died revelation's about his sexual predation's emerged. Argos is a cheap store. Weatherspoons is a chain of bars.

You can't possibly offend the memory of Jimmy Saville. Unfortunately if I were to tell you his depravities, it would get blocked. He was a huge celebrity in the 60s-80s and was patron of many charities and children's hospitals. He prayed on disabled children in hospital, children in his TV shows and was known to have relations with dead bodies in the hospital morgue.

Nonce? The about the nicest thing live heard him called, "described", And by calling him a nonce, you,ve offended 100s of the nonces who don't like being put in the same category as him, and by now there must be some laws to protect the rights of the 'nonce', and i wouldn't be surprised you don't get a court summons, I can see the headlines now, nonces around the world have come to protest this KZbin man who without any thought for the 100s of normal nonces, had the gaul to call Jimmy Savile one of them, To quote one of the protesters they said, " who do they think they are,? Going around Willy Nilly saying Jimmy Savile is one of us, yet he doesn't seem to grasp how by putting him in with our group will affect the way the public see,s us, I was shocked to think people would look at us in a whole different way, so we had to put a stop to this by cutting off the snakes head and trying to save as much of our reputation as possible, but that one name can sink a group's reputation so easily will that one name, shocking to think a few years ago he would have got away with insulting us like that, thank the Lord we,ve got the European courts that'll put a stop to crap like this, they understand the 'nonce' has feelings too, without the European courts i don't know what would have happened to all the nonces, glad we don't have to find out this time."P.S. big up all my homies in cell block 10, gone but not forgotten!!!!
