in Germany, the sentence mostly is to take away your freedom of movement. Prisoners still are human being, human rights still apply. Which includes human dignity and the chance - and help - to change. In the US, as everything else, it's just a business.

Yeah, Cannabis is now legal in Germany. Cannabis is also used as a painkiller when you have diseases.

Not only there are special courts for juveniles (14 to 18 or 21 years old) they also have special prisons where the juveniles are separated from the grown ups.

The difference lies in 2 points: 1. in Germany prisons are not privatized and 2. in Germany the main focus is on rehabilitation. In Germany you are not of criminal responsibility until you are 14 years old. Between 14 and 18 years of age, juvenile criminal law applies. In special cases, juvenile criminal law can be applied up to the age of 21. There are separate prisons for young people.

There are different prisons for juveniles and adults. And the earliest you can go to prison in Germany is 14. With those young offenders there is a lot of emphasis on rehabilitation and it varys from case to case and from region to region where you end up.

weed is decriminalized ...you can have up to 25g in public and 50 g at home. you can grow 3 plants for your own consumption (50g home) and you can smoke in public if you are not closer to 100 meters to schools,kindergardens and public sport locations (footballfield for example) ...also not close to children. Legal dispensaries will come end of the year and /or early 2025... at least what i know by now. Germany is somewhat complicated😅🤷‍♀

Very low substance there and almost guessing. The whole sentences for juvenile are very different to the sentences for adults and it is more on education and socialisation. It is very rare, a juvenile will go to jail at all, except for a major offense. Also the prisons for juvenile are different than those for adults. But even for adults, the major object is resocialization.

if ur below 14 you cant get punished by the law for anything expect be taken away from ur parents if the state thinks they cant raise you right, from 14-18 (21) there is a seperat court and jail for minors and the maximal punishment is 10 years (so if ur 20 and are considered minor then even for murder its max 10 years)

we have special therapy for sexual offenders in jails for example. Our system in general is focused on re-socialisation and rehabilitation instead of simply locking people away and strip them from basic rights like voting or so . And yes, in the states prisons are a business. Just wrong!

We have prisons for minors Jugendknast 😅 Since a severe case its debatet wather or not even 11 yesr olds should be send to prison if comiting murder honestly im for that an 11 jeat old should know the heavyness of killing somebody at a certsin point dor a certan type of crime there is no excuse but im pretty alone with this opinion As it is right now u need to be 14 or 15 so be able to go to jail

Juveniles (14 years or older) can go to prison. But they would stand in front of a juvenile court and then go to a juvenile prison and they would also get lighter scentences

Falsch. Strafmündig ist man erst mit "vollendetem" 14. Lebensjahr. Heißt, sobald man 15. Geburtstag hat in man "bedingt" Strafmündig.

@@SheratanLP Nein man ist mit 14 Jahren strafmündig. Der Wortlaut von § 19 StGB ist "Schuldunfähig ist, wer bei der Begehung der Tat noch nicht vierzehn Jahre alt ist". Sprich ab 14 Jahren ist man grundsätzlich schuldfähig.

@@SheratanLP Das erste Lebensjahr ist von der Geburt bis zum ersten Geburtstag. Das heißt das man das 14. Lebensjahr mit dem 14. Geburtstag vollendet hat.
