My friends and I read 'Soldier of Fortune ' magazine in our teens. Talked about becoming mercenaries to lead that 'exciting lifestyle '. But, going somewhere to kill people fighting for their beliefs, possibly actually on the RIGHT side of the conflict, well, just seemed somewhat evil in ways. So we enlisted in our military, to protect our country, and protect Europe. Boy, were we native. Should have joined the USCG, saving lives is awesome.
