What I truly love about Bob is that even when he knows the other team know he's lying, he'll keep going, and spin an incredible and surreal tale that could still even be true, because it's him. The fact he names all of the cats at the Cats Protection's National Adoption Centre is great too. I'm from Yorkshire so I'd never heard of it before, but the first time I saw it was the surname of an American lady and in my ignorance and with more than a touch of apparent British intellectual arrogance just assumed it should've been pronounced 'bitheway' and that 'stupid' Americans have got it wrong, again. Turns out it's from your part of Britain and it literally means by the road and should be pronounced 'By the way'. I felt a proper nobheads when I found out. Sorry America

The contestants don't know what is going to be on the card before they read it. So the pillow wasn't Bob's, it was provided by the show as a prop for the lie. So the show damaged the pillow to make it look like talons did it. The stories to support the lies are made up on the spot.

I always find it quite interesting watching Americans react to WILTY. Most are usually very focused on whether the story is true or not and if they can guess correctly (like a serious game show). There were two brands of garden fireworks available everywhere right up until the 80s as far as can remember: Standard and Astra. I have lots of memories of my late father setting up on freezing November nights, following the instructions to the letter while we steadily turned blue with cold, including nailing the Catherine wheel to a fence (with the nail supplied in the box!), before letting them off one after the other. Firework - pause - firework - pause - and so on. They were usually, well, a little disappointing and by the late 80s, when we'd grown up a bit, Standard and/or Astra were abandoned in favour of the town firework display, which was much better!

You are on the right tracks, good sir! The Red Wedding was based on this: In 1440, William, 6th Earl of Douglas and only a young lad at the time, was invited up to Edinburgh Castle to dine with King James II, who was also just a boy at the time. Against all advice, William and Sir William Fleming attended the meal, but at the end a black bull’s head was carried in, on a platter. A sign of death. Both young William and Fleming were arrested, tried, and beheaded the same day, on Castle Hill. Many believe that it was the young Earl’s uncle, James the Gross, who was responsible. He inherited the title and the Douglas lands were not forfeited to the King, which is what normally happened in the case of treason. Incidentally, Westeros, is named after Wester Ross, also in Scotland. 'So many stories, so little time'! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
