'Bint' is an derisory slang term for a woman. Usually accompanied with the terms 'Stupid' or 'Dozy'. It comes from the Arabic for 'Girl'. Having said that, I have a friend who affectionately refers to his wife as 'The Bint'. Also many schools in the UK have a uniform code that is very loosely enforced; a blazer would be considered seriously uncool and not worn by most kids. Will probably wears it because he has been told it's the uniform.

You are a reaction channel. When you pause the media that you're reacting to, that is perfectly fine because you are reacting to it. Don't ever feel bad for reacting the way that you want to. 8:06 so essentially in british schools, you would typically blazer if your school required a uniform but all the kids didn't like wearing a blazer as it makes them look nerdy, so most of them took them off or didn't where them to school at all and instead wear just jumper or white shirts with the schools tie, it essentially just a fashion thing for not wanting to look like a nerd, as will does wearing it xD

'Bint' is slang for 'young woman' from the Arabic word meaning 'girl' or 'daughter'. British soldiers picked up the word in the days of the Empire and used it to refer to a local (native) girlfriend. It is considered derogatory and sexist nowadays. John Cleese famously used it to Connie Booth (his wife at the time) in Fawlty Towers when he called her a 'cloth-eared bint'.
@ethelmini2 жыл бұрын
I didn't know it was Army slang, but we've adopted lots of slang from other languages that way. Makes me wonder if biddy as in "old biddy" is the same. Though there was Biddy Baxter of Blue Peter fame. ...I looked it up, short for Bridget.

Queen Boomer is right, the reason Will wears a jacket (specifically called a blazer) is because he came from an expensive private school where that's a mandatory part of the uniform, whereas in state school it isn't (though it is optional). As it happens when I started secondary school there was one solitary boy who came in wearing a blazer - he wore it for maybe a week at most, but got called "blazer boy" for years after 😂

It's not only Will that wears the black blazer though, it's all the new kids "the freaks" that joined at the same time. So it would make sense that they joined at the point when the school were bringing in a new uniform. Most schools when they change uniforms only make new kids wear them and the others can wear what they have already had and paid for, if that makes sense? Not make the families buy a whole second uniform. That's what happened at my school.

Could just be because he's new. There'd be a uniform list & his mum would buy it all. The others will have outgrown theirs, as well as dumped them once they found out they could get away with it. funny with the uniforms. I'm from england, and when i was in primary school (age 5-11) our uniforms looked like those that Jay, Neil Simon etc are wearing, with a jumper/sweater, shirt and trousers. Your discussion about pierced ears reminds me of how things used to be when they first became popular with men. Speaking as a gay man it was common knowledge in the late 70's and early 80's amongst all of us that earrings worn on the left meant that the wearer was 'active' and those worn on the right meant that the wearer was 'passive'. The same was true of nipple piercings and certain articles of clothing, especially handkerchiefs, i.e. if a man was wearing a yellow one hanging out of his back left-hand side pocket it meant he liked to pee on his sexual partners and if it was in his right-hand side pocket he enjoyed being peed on. Incidentally if he had both of his ears pierced it meant that he was 'versatile'. On a funnier note I remember working as night manager at a 7-Eleven in Calgary, Canada many years ago and I was wearing a pair of diamond stud earrings and I had really short hair which made them obviously very noticeable when a gang of about 15 bikers came in and their leader asked me if I was a 'f*g' and I just replied to him that I wasn't but I could swear to God that my roommate was because he insisted on sucking my d*ck and then shoving it up his ar$e immediately afterwards whenever we got together. The entire gang just cracked up with laughter and they were very respectful and paid for every item in the shop that they wanted when they could've very easily robbed us blind. After they left I remember that myself and the lady that I was working with breathed huge sighs of relief and we both needed several cups of coffee to calm us down....it's a good job that the coffee was readily at hand, wasn't it? 👍😁👍 P.S. I wasn't even in a relationship at the time and I lived alone so the roommate that I speak of didn't even exist - it was purely quick thinking on my part and I've always thought that comedy and using my sense of humour has always worked to defuse tricky situations like that. 👍🤣👍

Blazers and ties are compulsory wear for most boys in secondary school. Once you get to College (like your High School), they are often still a part of the uniform but the blazer is no longer mandatory. Usually people opt for a school jumper in the colder months, which is what Simon and Neil are usually wearing. Some colleges also do away with uniform entirely, but that's not the case here.

A lot of schools allow casual dress for 6th formers. At my school it was seen as one of the main perks along with the common room and having free periods.

At our secondary the blazer (which would have to have a school badge sewn on) was optional - to be fair that was worn either by the rich kids or nerds - as a twin, my mum and dad weren't forking out on a mini-suit jacket for us to grow out of it in no time, and the kids that wore one sized up with growing room for the next three or so years just looked stupid, lol!

Forget about the Inbetweeners, if someone didn't know better, they would be wondering what the King and Queen Boomer are doing from 21:37 to 21:47, lol, thanks for the video.

I’ve seen every episode and both films about 10 times but it’s more enjoyable watching it again with your reactions

On Wills "jacket" it's called a 'blazer' and most schools in England get their students to wear one, it usually has the school crest on it. Most kids don't like wearing them though so never do, you only ever see the new kids wear one for their first year.

At my school, the sixth formers had double-breasted blazers..

When he's driving, Jay calls the other driver "stupid old bint." Bint = woman. Derogatory. From the Arabic for "daughter" or "daughter of." It entered the English lexicon from British troops when Egypt was part of the Empire. They picked up on the term and started applying it to women, predominantly those of easy virtue. If Queen Boomer ever annoys you, and you called her an annoying bint, it would not be a good idea.

I just love your reactions. Especially the times where there's uncontrolled laughing from King Boomer at the same time as an "ew" coming from the Queen. Like so many, I'm rediscovering the inbetweeners all over again through your eyes. Thanks!
