0:13 Ensure water supply is off and remove lid
0:22 Remove as much water from tank as possible
0:37 Disconnect water hose
0:45 Remove remaining water with cup/sponge
1:17 Remove nuts from under tank
1:34 Remove tank from bowl
1:47 Use channel locks to unfasten valve nut
2:13 Remove old valve
2:35 Set new valve in place and fasten valve nut
2:45 Secure tightly with channel locks
2:49 Return tank to bowl
3:00 Fasten tank nuts
3:15 Reconnect flush valve to trip lever
3:21 Reattach fill tube to overflow tube
3:31 Reconnect water supply
3:36 Turn water on

Hey American Standard, I am a plumber with over 40 years of experience. Why are these American Standard toilets coming directly from your factory with leaking flapper valves? A brand new toilet with a leaking flapper valve? You have been making toilets for over 100 years and this is the best you can do? I have sold dozens of these toilets to people and recommended them to people but not anymore.

If I had all the money in my pocket from all the time wasted, from all the call backs from this model toilet, I could probably by all the commenters here a really nice dinner $$. NOW I currently have one in a customers house that not only flushes like shit, its leaking and has to be replaced after less than 2 months... Way to go American Standard!! & Way go Home Depot for selling them to home owners that don't know any better!!! 👍👍

Yes, it’s absolutely trash! I have replaced the gasket after 3 months after install, now leaking again after a year. What a nightmare! American Standards are garbage! Their furnaces too

For $5.99, you can just replace the flapper from Lowe's Home Improvement. Buying the whole valve replacement with all that work for $21-$30 is ridiculous. There are videos on KZbin that show how to replace it. There is a trick to do it so please search for it.

Same here as the previous two comments. My Champion 4 that I purchased from Lowes last year has a valve assembly that does not have a thumbscrew. I currently have a ghost flush issue (dripping and refilling) so the valve gasket appears to be the problem. But, I cannot figure out how to just replace the gasket. Help!

Just called the help line. Apparently the new Universal flush valve is built with a gasket that pulls off, and goes up and over the green top. It is stretchy enough that it won't break. Take a new gasket, and put it back in reverse order. Now, if only their social media team would create a video for that.

If the flap comes down before it has ample water to flush waste, what is usually the cause and fix of that problem? 8-)

how do you replace the flush valve seal --there is no nut so that you can remove the top of the assembly to expose and change the seal. On the new one there is the word "unlock" with an arrow showing a counterclock wise direction but there is no nut on the top and there is no bottom so how can you change the seal---This is on a new toilet ( a couple of months old) that a plumber installed and I am already getting ghost flushings--don't tell me I have to get a plumber to change the whole assembly-I am 75 years old and can not do it myself. By the way this new toilet replaced an American Standard Champion so I know how the previous model worked and have a handful of the old seals --any info would be greatly appreciated.

How come the lower plastic part of my flush valve is separating itself from the upper plastic housing? I took it apart and put it back together multiple times and I get the same result.

Brought a new toilet. Valve seal started leaking within the first month. What kind of garbage is American Standard is now selling. I will never ever buy another.
