That open meadow with the stream at the end was really beautiful.

Awesome! This one of my favorite places out there! Ostler has big fish but they are picky! Amethyst is a beautiful lake! Sleeping on the ground? That stream has me thinking it’s time to head back up there with my Tenkara rod! I haven’t been up there since 2019 so it’s time to go back! Thanks for taking us along!

It is a really beautiful place! I remember the first time walking up into middle basin, the walls surrounding us looked like literal giant paintings to me! It was unreal and unforgettable!

That is some green grass! The youngblood learned a valuable lesson about checking his gear before departing!

So true! He'll double check his gear from now on! Some lessons need to be learned the hard way...😂

Great way to introduce someone for the first time to backpacking and backcountry fishing. Great scenery too. Only got a chance to see a small bit of the High Uintas in 2000 Thanks for the Utah scenery I missed that year.

The Uintas feel different than other ranges that I have hiked through. I cannot wait to get back there!

Nice to hear Andy ( I think that's his name ) doing a voice over...that caught me off guard. Will say planning on sleeping in a hammock then ending up sleeping on the ground sux...even worse when your in the hammock and the thing fails. At least he had a sleep pad and a tarp. The plus side...he will never forget his hammock again. The Uintahs are on my list. Thanks guys for taking us along. Rock on!

That is Brandon who did the narration. I've only done it a couple of times where I slept on the ground instead of my hammock... it reminded me of a lyric: "If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough!"

That is a pretty awesome basin. Views all around. And I love seeing pups tagging along! Looks like they had more fun than you did. Going to add that area to my next Uintas trip. 👍👍

Thanks for sharing! The Uintas are an area I’ve not had the fortune to visit but I’m sure looking forward to getting in there next time I’m in Utah.

I fell in love with the Uintas the first time I hiked there! I haven't been to another range that feels quite like the Uintas, they are something all their own and worth taking a trip!

Really enjoyed this! Good to see the another generation getting indoctrinated to the backcountry life. The next trip out will be even better (at least, gear wise it will....LOL). Tom

This was my first backpack into the Uintas almost 30 years ago, hiked up in a storm and got a bunch of wild weather. Extremely beautiful area that has sadly turned into an overcrowded SHIT SHOW...
@mountainwanderer

I can see how the weather could get pretty wild up there! Since the trail is easy access from the Mirror Lake highway it will bring more people in... I just hope people respect the area and keep it pristine (at least what is left).

@@mountainwanderer Friend of mine visited the area last year in early august and said the main meadow had people camped all over and the first small lake before Amethyst lake had a bunch of people partying and listening to music on portable speakers. This year I read a trip report of a much similar situation and with the ease of access from Christmas Meadows I am not surprised at just how busy it can get. Pretty much any place these days is getting too congested with crowds. Like you said, I hope the area is respected, not much you can do about the crowds.... Thanks for the video, makes me miss my home state of Utah.
