Everyone knows about Michael Jordan's wealth (but not about how much he lost in the pandemic) but people aren't aware of the second most rich NBA player of all time. It's time to react to the top-10 money list and explain how they got so wealthy.

I've said this before, ...the reason why folks don't know about Bridgeman is that he wasn't a superstar. He was a great 6th man, and media during his playing days acknowledged what he did, but not how they tend to do it in today's game. Vinnie Johnson is more well-known by fans because of his Pistons' success. But, both Johnson and Bridgeman made excellent post career decisions, and now, have net worths higher than any of their respective teammates.

Lot more to it than that. It was an almost certainty that some hedge funds in addition to momentum funds were _buying_ gamestop shares at the time. It is a hyper-competitive business. Wiping out or destroying a competitor's track record, and making a ton of money in the process, is too good to resist. PS I doubt MJ could or would jump in to rescue a hedge fund. (Need a lot more money than that.) Likely was just the subjective nature of net worth estimates that they can fluctuate a lot.

63 of the 90 in the last 2 years. (30+33). he wasnt so underpaid as it was a backloaded contract. sure it was low when he made just 2-3 million in 95 and 96. but the contract was contextually fair for the time to have him due to make 63 mil in 2 years. 1990s years. and its still more salary than any other athlete has been paid in a 2 year span. still a record while salaries have exploded by a factor of almost 10 since then.
@martianmurray
@martianmurray 2 жыл бұрын
@@ice-iu3vv didn’t realize it was a 2 year but his previous contract was still low considering he’d been a 30+ per game scorer since the 80’s with a 3peat under his belt. It was a record for a long time but I think even Simmons is making that now, assuming he suits up for somebody by the start of the season.
@MrPhilbautista
@MrPhilbautista 2 жыл бұрын
@@ice-iu3vv There was nothing fair about MJ’s contracts prior to the last few years. He was so underpaid he was being paid less than several team mates, like Toni Kukoc, Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman, despite being the best player on the team. This is probably why the Bulls were able to surround him with talent to compliment his abilities, but it’s also a big reason for the bad blood between MJ and management.
@ice-iu3vv
@ice-iu3vv 2 жыл бұрын
@@MrPhilbautista so we need to review what backloaded means. its 1 contract, not plural, unfair contracts. michael set up his long term contract with his agent and attorney and the bulls obliged him. it called for him to make most of his money in the last 2 years. jordan wanted it this way for 2 reasons. to defer the high income tax hit, and to allow the bulls salary cap room to put the second dynasty together. keep in mind reinsdorf paid him his basketball salary for 2 years while michael was playing baseball in the white sox system. these players (kukoc, pippen, and rodman) were NOT making more than michael in terms of the total contract, but they made more in specific seasons. again, michael set up his own deal, intentionally. no it isnt the source of any bad blood. michael's beef with management springs from them letting go of phil jackson, refusing to keep the second 3-peat team together, and krausse taking too much credit for the teams success. nothing fair ? so, you jumped to the conclusion that the most shrewd basketball business mind of them all was just bullied and ripped off, apparently against his will ? no that doesnt sound like michael jordan at all.

Bridgeman still owns his Wendy’s, he’s made up to 600 million between the chili’s and Wendy’s investments. People claim he’s in the high percentile of ownership of the company because he invested when it first was getting started. But he doesn’t own as many Wendy’s to be the highest percentage owner since theirs thousands of Wendy’s in the USA. If he didn’t take the 100k instead of the percentage stake in Nike, this was even before they had their check symbol. It was a swoosh at the time. Granted 100k In the 70s was a lot of money, almost a million dollars. So the money I made in the Gamestop deal screwed over Michael Jordan? Hell yes that's what he gets for him making me watch him win a title against my Super Sonic's live at game 1,2,and 6 rocking my Shawn Kemp in game 1, Detlef Schrempf in game 2 and my Gary Payton jersey in game 6! Thank you Casey that that little tidbit put a smile on my face and instantly made my day better!

Federal Reserve Notes are the property of the Federal Reserve which is why you legally cannot deface, burn or counterfeit it's notes. These player's have an equitable interest in a debt instrument known as the Federal Reserve Note. Just because you have something in your possession does not mean you actually own it. The postal service would be one example of possession without ownership.

@@negusibe9232 You're right the Federal Government by law can only coin money. This is why the Federal Reserve a private bank, through the Department of Printing and Engraving commissions the creation of the Federal Reserve Notes, however the US Mint creates all the coins in circulation including American Gold and Silver Eagles.
