I think the issue in the inheritance story, is not that OP doesn't want to share her inheritance but rather it is that Kevin is demanding it and on his terms, neither of which are good. For the bookstore story: It could be technically a jerk moment, I can admit that it does feel very odd to be okay with taking part of someone else's inheritance, but this should have been covered in court, not after the facts, something along the lines of "I have split my inheritance with you, you have benefited from it in such, such and such ways, so I request that you pay it back", which normally affects how much the wife gets from the divorce. However, signing the deed of the bookstore is a downright no. This can easily backfire against OP in the event of an argument, as having your name on the lease means you can do many things as a co-owner; sign for bank loans, mess with the business to get back at the other. I would never trust someone that can go to his MOMMY for backup and get the KIDS to manipulate their mother. You can work some kind of deal to pay the ex with a little bit of money until the inheritance is covered, but definitely do not cave in for such ridiculous requests.

I am both surprised and fairly amused there are still people who do not know that marriage is absolutely a business, and a very lucrative one at that. Not in the way mentioned by Mr. Wick, but still. Just the mere legal benefits of being married is worth getting that contract on... if you are on the advantaged side, that is. Also... there is no legal obligation for the wife to pay back the money unless he has included that into: a) a prenup, b) a postnup (yes, I also recently learned that was a thing), c) his divorce papers. Also, keep in mind that expenses are normally calculated in the divorce, so it is normally a pretty clear cut. Judges are meant to be fair, after all, and this is the job of the lawyers to properly submit all relevant information pertaining to the split of assets. Keep in mind that we do not have all the details. There is no mention of what was included into the divorce, or if she contributed in any major other ways in the marriage. Example: You get married (god forbid) and your mother passes away (double god forbid), leaving you some inheritance. You never had a job, or is unable to keep one, you get the inheritance, keep some for yourself and share the rest with your partner. Your partner has been providing for you for years, and has been spending a *lot* more money into this marriage that you can't even fathom, but you still shared that money with them, so they spend it to compensate your share of the bills unpaid and etc. Your partner, understandably, gets fed up and finally file for divorce after years, because vows about staying together through thick and thin, through sickness and health can only carry you so far before they understand that this relationship is based on her thick and health to compensate for your thin and sickness. Also, this is the 21st century, and divorce is legal, so... I want to say tough luck. Now, you are getting divorced, and you and your now ex-spouse have signed the divorce papers, which states that you agree to the final ruling and that you forfeit your ability to contest the content of that divorce in the future in any way. Two years later, your ex-spouse gets even more money because her relative died and left her a HUGE GODDAMN CHUNK of money. Now, you get into your head that you did share your inheritance with her, so she should too. But the fact is; she already paid you back in the divorce by splitting whatever assets you both shared and because both your lawyers and the judge have seen the paperwork in regards to your inheritance AND have ruled that whatever was included in the divorce paper was fair. BUT, once again; not enough detail. OP did mention she felt like she could, in theory, owe him, so maybe that is not the situation at all. This is also why you should NEVER use your inheritance for someone else, or write a post nuptial the moment you get some inheritance, because this can suck A LOT when things don't work out, which they very often do not do. Also, I did use the second person of singular in my scenario; this is not oriented towards you personally, but my scenario is written in a way that will make it feel more personal so you can understand in what position Kevin could potentially be in. And also, I added a bit of theatrical and supposition for the heck of it. I am also biased against anyone that call their mom for backup when they are adults or involved children as a mean of manipulation. If I called my mother to talk to my ex-wife, I'm pretty sure my mother would hang up the moment I uttered the sentence "Talk to her in my stead".

Presumably he shared the inheritance willingly because they were together and he felt her worth it. After the divorce, something happened that changed that dynamic. The inheritance restitution should've been handled during the divorce proceedings. Sounds like it wasn't, which was his fault for not pushing for it if he really felt that way. You have no moral obligation to share your property with anyone, much less someone you don't like. And then for him to turn her own young son against her? Bookstore story: if he is playing dirty getting kids involved for his personal gain (screw his mother, but kids?!?) I would advice filling for full custody. I have feeling that's it's not the first time when he put children against mother. And you DO NOT OWE HIM ANYTHING just because you have kids together. You owe YOUR CHILDREN habits for stabile growth, roof over their head and food on their plate.

If his wife cheated on him on thier honeymoon, obviously this guy does not good judgment or the ability to spot big red flags. This guys best move is to stay out of the love game. I feel bad for him thinking about how many women are going to take advantage of him before he becomes another broken man.

The guy in the last story was talking about personal padlocks that selfish people were using to reserve lockers they weren't currently using. So they're the AHs, he's the guy that was pushed too far by the selfish ignorant actions of AHs.

He can still use the lockers,he just cut the combo/key 🔒 locks off.

For the second story I'd give them an unreasonable deal like buying them a new car in cash and then paying for the repairs to the new car and if they wouldn't accept it girl can go to jail and have something on her record the rest of her life

You press charges a get both of them on an official RO so that any future crimes are hard jail time. Most likely they’ll be fined and put on probation if first time offenders.

On the story with the bike locks, assuming it is the same as the ones near where I live, he isn't destroying government property. He's cutting the locks the people are putting on there. He would simply have to put his own lock on and it's fine.

In the 3rd story the wife is morally an AH. What she should have done, is work out how much she benefited from her husband's inheritance, and then pay him back. It's technically not illegal if she doesn't, as they're no longer married, but considering she mooched off his inheritance it would be the right thing to do to repay him the money she took. If she doesn't it's likely that she'll be seen as the bad guy, as like I said it is morally wrong, which has more weight in the court of public opinion.

story 1: for me, i'd press charges on anyone over 14 committing a crime against me, if they're UNDER 14, by italian law (i live in italy), the parents are criminally responsible for the child's actions (until the child turns 14) so yeah, no matter the age or gender or situation of someone: if you mess with me, i'll mess with your criminal record

The bike lock story, they are prob lockers that just have a hole to put a lock on not built in locks so ergo he was doing the public a favor not making it impossible for them to be used.
