The last story: Absolutely NOT the jerk. They're guilt tripping and putting pressure on OP to help out with his son's half-sibling. While it's tragic that this little child has cancer, it's not OP's responsibility. I've went through something similar where someone (with whom I'm no longer friends) manipulated me into giving money to help take care of her children. What do you know? After “promising” to pay me back “when she could,” she eventually completely ghosted me and I never heard from her again. She scammed me very much in the same way OP's ex is trying to scam him. He needs to stick to his guns and take legal precautions if necessary.

In my own personal opinion story number one made absolutely no sense.
