Hi, I'm chasing recommendations for Manual gear oil & differential oils. Not sure what best suits synchromesh in gearboxes. There seems to be a few choices on eBay but limited description. Vehicle is a 2010 Nissan Pathfinder R51 2.5 TD. Thanks, Mark.

Does Amsoil meet the API performance for Jaguar Land Rover ST JLR , 03, 5004 ?
@Syntheticwarehouse3 жыл бұрын
Depends on the year but simply go to Amsoil.com and look up your car. If it's on the list it's backed by AMSOIL thus meets the requirement.

Does the series 2000 75w-90 fluid supposed to be blue?
@daniellang61122 жыл бұрын
saw the overview, where are the tips?
@Syntheticwarehouse2 жыл бұрын
The tips are on the new squeeze bags. No pump needed. Just stick the tip in there and squeeze. (Amsoil calls then EZ Packs)

Last month I just started using the 10w30 signature series oil on my 1993 Toyota Previa with an EA 15k51 oil filter, I must say that stuff works wonders and same goes for the gear oil since I recently changed my gear oil to amsoil.

Ford Ranger XLT 2.2L 4X2, what viscosity should I use for better performance and protection? the book says 80w90, is there any better option? I live in southeast asia where there is no winter or cold days, its continuously hotter rain or shine.

I used to get some fine metwl particles buildup on the drain plug magnet in my Toyota truck when I used Toyota's GL5 gesr oil. I switched to Amsoil Severe Gear. No more buildup (barely noticeable) and the differential runs noticeably cooler and I noticed slight improvement in gas mileage. I switched to Amsoil products after a friend of mine told me to try Amsoil in my V-Twin motorcycle. He is a pilot and has been using Amsoil in his airplane for a long time. In fact, he said, some airplane engines specify Amsoil as the only acceptable lubricant. Anyway, I put Amsoil 10W40 into my bike and could not beleve how much better it ran. The engine was noticeably quieter and ran much cooler. Shift quality was much better as well. I would have never believed that a simple oil brand switch could be that noticeable. Now I use Amsoil lubricants and filters in all of my vehicles. I buy it online from Amsoil with my Preferred Customer discount. Obviously, I'm not affiliated with Amsoil, just a happy customer.

Is the 75w90 compatible with clutch type lsd differential?
@Syntheticwarehouse3 жыл бұрын
Yes it sure is. Rarely you would need to add additional additive which we also sell but really one out of 200 customers I get ever need it and I sell a LOT of the Severe Gear.

Side Note from 1980s - Amsoil Severe Gear Lube (EP) - not sure what its exact name was back in 1987. Amsoil was the only product on the market that would fix a 'scratchy' 2nd gear synchro in my 85 Mazda rx7 GSLSE. When it was cold that transmission's 2nd gear took a fair amount of force to get into gear. Amsoil totally smoothed it out and I totally forgot about any issue. Good Stuff.

My rotary guru & I are in the middle of an engine swap putting an FD 13b engine (w a Turbonetics turbo) into an RX-8 body ... I've decided to go full Amsoil on it ... crank, diff, trans, brakes, etc. ... hope it turns out as well as your experience. As a note, I live in Canada, & Royal Purple -- no matter how good the company is, & no matter how much Racing Beat endorses it -- freezes like molasses in any kind of non-California weather.

I've never seen anyone disappointed by Amsoil and all the tests I've seen over years Amsoil always comes out very high or the top performer.

What's the difference between Amsoil synthetic gear lube and the severe gear?
@zappatx4 жыл бұрын
It's all Severe Gear now. What is the product code of the one you are talking about? AGL? It's now in the severe gear family - that just means the top level for diffs which see extreme use or abuse. Lower temps, etc..

I saw an Amsoil video where one of the snowmobile snocross mechanics was using severe gear in a snowmobile chain case.i have been using the Amsoil Synthetic Atv & Snowmobile oil. Would severe gear be better? Which one should I Choose? Thanks lots!

Hi!!! Love this video, very informative, however, I have a simple question, can you please help me out, I was looking around for 80w-9o synthetic gear oil, and I came across with this interesting fact, and is that, you guys are the only ones that I saw, have it, please help me out with that, if you can provide more info, on what's the difference on 75w-90, and 80w-90 on synthetic, from your products, thanks in advance...
@Syntheticwarehouse8 жыл бұрын
80W-90 and 75W-90 are identical at operating temperatures. They are both a 90WT gear lube. The 75W (winter) is a notation of the measurement of torque loss in cold temperatures or at start-up. The lower that number the more efficient or in AMSOIL's case - better quality. But your main concern is the 90 which is the true viscosity of the product, Data sheets of both products should be almost the same. Call me at 605-274-2580 to order. I can get that right out to you.
@Sidg26 жыл бұрын
Does all these 3 oils have almost same viscosities and can be interchangeable as a gear oil in transmission of 110cc gearless scooters. SAE 10W30 engine oil , API GL-4 SAE 80W-90 gear oil and GL-4 SAE 90 grade gear oil.
@Syntheticwarehouse6 жыл бұрын
The two 90WT gear oils are OK as long as the scooter calls for either a 90WT, 80WT or 80w-90 GL4.. Yes - and never use a GL5 in these unless it specified. A 90WT gear oil is equivalent to a SAE 40 or 10W-40 engine oil (both are around 15 cSt). So the 10W-30 would be lighter and not recommended.
@Sidg26 жыл бұрын
Amsoil Synthetic Warehouse and Dealer You said 10w30 engine oil not recommended in transmission/gears of 110cc gearless scooters but my TVS scooter's company manual saying to use API-SL10w30 JASO-MA2 engine oil used as gear oil in transmission also. Now I am very confused. Please give me correct suggestion.
@Syntheticwarehouse6 жыл бұрын
I was just saying they are different.. The 10w-30 is lighter. But if your manual gives you the OK - then use it. Motorcycle oils are often used for separate gear sumps so they are designed for that. But a car 10W-30 or non-JASO-MA2 - do not use.

Do you need the slip lock with the severe gear?
@ferdinandvelez53787 жыл бұрын
My vehicle requires a friction modifier to be added to the differential. The vehicle is equipped with a locking differential (not a limited slip). How will this modifier affect the performance of the Amsoil product?
@Syntheticwarehouse7 жыл бұрын
Our GL5 Diff oils have it already but our SlipLoc is about $6-$7 if you need to add more. Otherwise you can add another. But again - there is a good amount in there all ready. If that doesnt answer your question call 715-399-TECH

I have a twin turbo raptor with 5525HP and 610TQ so... which one do i use? 190 or 250? I immediately think 250, it has New Yukon 4.88:1 and a lot of street with 37" BFG KO2's, which NEVER break loose. Please help with an answer. do I use 190 since its a V-6 ? or do i use 250 because of the big tacky rubber and high HP? thanks!
@Syntheticwarehouse7 жыл бұрын
Well the best answer is based on heat. I would start with the 190 then check the case temperatures. Generally the builder will specify. We have 500+ HP customers using the 250 but it does tend to act like a brake if the temps are too low. In your case if you don't have an expert on that diff, call AMSOIL Tech at 715-399-TECH (8324)

I use the amsoil severe 75-140 in a dully the pulls 16-21k behind it. The stuff does foam, put the truck in the shop last night. This morning pulled the plug and you could see foam covering all of the oil. The diff oil in the rear axle of this truck gets changed every 15k. I am not saying it is bad stuff but let's be honest. As of right now it is the best we can find.
@Syntheticwarehouse6 жыл бұрын
It's one of my #1 sellers in the two stores we have. In fact it's in the top three and I have never had that come back. It was designed for the most enduring pressures beyond what the differential is designed to handle. SO there must have been something added or moisture. Did you add any aftermarket products or use any cleaners in the diff? Do you have the batch # from the bottle and we can issue a quality control ticket to have that looked into for that particular batch. The keep samples of every run for 2-years.
@upnorthyooper11966 жыл бұрын
This was at lest the 3rd change with amsoil. This is a highway truck so no contaminates, we don't keep samples but we do check the magnet on the drain plug every 2500-3k miles for the amount metal build up and take pictures. This is an helix type pozi so they make very fine filings by design. The oil didn't seem to hold up very good this time.
@Syntheticwarehouse6 жыл бұрын
Sorry you had that issue. I call up to HQ all the time and will mention it. AMSOIL is always wanting to take proactive action so if it ever happens again please keep a sample and call us.

I too tow heavy trailers in the Southern CA./AZ. heat. I do not abuse my truck, but it does get worked. My '15 Ram dually with AAM 11.8 axle with 4:10's got Amsoil Severe Gear 75/140 at 50K miles and 100K miles. At 140k miles my differential is toast. I'm looking at an enormous repair bill. When towing I believe I was getting thermal runaway and foaming. This is even with the factory finned aluminum cover. I pulled fill plug, and had lots of shiny metal on magnet. Also visible foaming inside. I am going to mount a diff temp gauge on it. Very disappointed that with routine servicing of fluid this happened. Taking it in for ring pinion and all bearings this week. Now I don't know what fluid to use. Probably Mopar 75/140 or Mobil 1, or considering a higher weight Amsoil product. That may exacerbate the temperature even more though.
@cheezwhiz12346 жыл бұрын
Please tell me at what temperature this lube is rated for. That way, I can pull over or slow down if it exceeds it. Also your viscosity recommendation, thank you.

Can this be used on a car with LSD ?
@Syntheticwarehouse6 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. All of the differential lubes (FGR, SVG, SVO, SVT, AGL) all have the limited slip additive and we also have an additive for the dodge trucks which need a little more. (Product code ADA)

@zappatx5 жыл бұрын
Mobil 1 fails low temp energy loss tests and is an overall fraud. May work well but never has been a true synthetic so if you want easy to find and performance isn't an issue use Dollar general oil. At least that way you really get what the label says.
