Fun fact about this train, the pioneer train number 25 from Chicago to Seattle stoped in Boise at 4:24 AM. And the pioneer train number 26 from Seattle to Chicago stoped in Boise at 11:26 PM. Both trains stoped in Boise 3 times per week. The pioneer started on June 7th 1977 and ended on May 11th 1997.

Amtrak stated it’s trains on May 1st 1971. And the Amtrak pioneer train started on June 7th 1977.

Agreed. The train was basically the only public transportation other than planes. And now instead of trains and planes, now it’s buses and planes.

It was cut to 3 days a week at the end of its run, come to think of it - was the Pioneer ever daily?

It already was 3 times per week. There just weren’t enough passengers riding it so Amtrak couldn’t afford to keep it running.
