That waterballoonscene was unique. How does a gorgeous woman tell a guy she likes him? The stare at the desk already did it, when she clearly was distracted to answer, just like guys are distracted when they just gaze at a beautiful woman.

If you think about it, that was a pretty great shot. She threw that from at least 80 feet away with at least 10 other people nearby.

She didn't throw it at all, because that would've been forced labour & her crackpot feminism would've went into over drive at the thought of having to throw it at a man...because he made her do it after making her mad. A man's fault again you see.

I love this scene. Such a delightfully random ending too. It's a shame that intelligent shows like this one are deemed unpopular before they even air nowadays. If a show is good, a network is supposed to slap its viewers with it until they learn to watch it. Both Seinfeld and MASH had terrible ratings in the beginning.

I wish they'd been able to keep "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" going for another season. I think if it had been kept on for another season it would have built up the audience for a full 7 seasons.

Intelligent shows tend to attack issues in a way that actually make the viewers think about real world problems, so production companies will rather have dumb characters misrepresent problems and be unpopular rather than have to face any controversy outside of the show. And they hope that they can sexism or racism as a cop-out by making the bad show seem to be about those issues instead of them made deliberately misleading

Amy n Josh used to be an item, years before the white house. When Amy "saves" Abby Bartlett at the luncheon, Abby asks: "how can you live with someone like Josh? when he says": blah blah blah. Amy responds: "I didn't live with him, and my problem is, when he says stuff like that, I wanna jump him."

@@henrybutchy3242 true, and there was another woman character who i think was an ex of Josh. too bad there isn't a "young sheldon" spin off of some of these main characters, but then perhaps part of the magic of this show was how they interacted with each other. still, a spinoff show could have cameo appearances... Amy wasn't playing games with Josh, she just was being careful with him and his reputation, i think.

Oddly they both have points. In the UK we have a newspaper called The Sun, it's gaudy and trashy but it's had nude women on Page 3 almost every week since 1970. In 2015 there were plans to do away with it because it was seen as degrading by the then-editors and politicians, but it was vehemently protested against by more women than men; even the ones who didn't like Page 3 in the first place. Because it wasn't something the women were forced to do, most of them were models for underwear or had otherwise well-off careers in the industry. So to them, the ones willingly signing up to appear nude in a newspaper, saw it as more empowering than degrading. In a similar vein, not everyone who becomes a "worker" wants to do it but making it illegal just makes it harder to get government protections in the event that they are mistreated. It's the same reason why drug users in some parts of Europe aren't punished but the dealers are, it makes it easier for those who want and need help to come forward without fear of legal repercussions.

No little boy grows up wanting to pick up trash. There are a lot of jobs no one *wants* to do, but do anyway because they need the money and those jobs need to be done, and there are abusive employers in every industry. The argument against legalising prostitution is one solely based in so called "benevolent" sexism.

Why is it that all the strongest advocates for the legalisation (read: 'normalisation') of prostitution seem to be men? Aside from obvious safeguards to ensure that sex workers are not criminalised or exploited, the idea of normalising the objectification of women is despicable. Try and look at it this way; as a man, if your choice was between ending your day collecting refuse or ending your day sodomised and humiliated, which would you choose? Pretending that sex is not an intimate and deeply affecting experience is delusional. Society shouldn't punish those who have been forced into it, but conversely it should not be celebrated.

@@jkcarroll It's only slavery if it involves coercion. You can frame a scenario where it's no more inherently exploitative than any other job if the prostitute is paid is a fair wage for their work. But the reality is that the dehumanising nature of that work means it's not something most people (of either sex) would choose if they had any real choice.

Well, yeah. You could say the same thing about murder. It's illegal *and* stigmatised for a reason. Primarily because it's morally wrong. I'm not saying it should be illegal, it's important that sex workers are protected and given support. But I'd draw the line at condoning it.

This is only true when Prostitution is criminalised forcing sex workers to be placed in the position described. Where sex work is decriminalised, it is the minority of sex workers who experience exploitation, trafficking & marginalisation. Countries that have legalised sex work & have passed laws to protect sex workers, have a thriving industry of successful independent escorts who have the security of knowing that they have rights & are protected. Failing to pay a sex worker in most states in Australia (QLD being the backward outcast state in the country) will result in SA by deceltion charges, which is prosecuted regularly & results in an average custodial sentence on a first offence of two years.
