I love this scene. Such a delightfully random ending too. It's a shame that intelligent shows like this one are deemed unpopular before they even air nowadays. If a show is good, a network is supposed to slap its viewers with it until they learn to watch it. Both Seinfeld and MASH had terrible ratings in the beginning.

Oddly they both have points. In the UK we have a newspaper called The Sun, it's gaudy and trashy but it's had nude women on Page 3 almost every week since 1970. In 2015 there were plans to do away with it because it was seen as degrading by the then-editors and politicians, but it was vehemently protested against by more women than men; even the ones who didn't like Page 3 in the first place. Because it wasn't something the women were forced to do, most of them were models for underwear or had otherwise well-off careers in the industry. So to them, the ones willingly signing up to appear nude in a newspaper, saw it as more empowering than degrading. In a similar vein, not everyone who becomes a "worker" wants to do it but making it illegal just makes it harder to get government protections in the event that they are mistreated. It's the same reason why drug users in some parts of Europe aren't punished but the dealers are, it makes it easier for those who want and need help to come forward without fear of legal repercussions.

No little boy grows up wanting to pick up trash. Why is it that all the strongest advocates for the legalisation (read: 'normalisation') of prostitution seem to be men? Aside from obvious safeguards to ensure that sex workers are not criminalised or exploited, the idea of normalising the objectification of women is despicable. Try and look at it this way; as a man, if your choice was between ending your day collecting refuse or ending your day sodomised and humiliated, which would you choose? Pretending that sex is not an intimate and deeply affecting experience is delusional. Society shouldn't punish those who have been forced into it, but conversely it should not be celebrated.

@mandylloyd Жыл бұрын
This is only true when Prostitution is criminalised forcing sex workers to be placed in the position described. Where sex work is decriminalised, it is the minority of sex workers who experience exploitation, trafficking & marginalisation. Countries that have legalised sex work & have passed laws to protect sex workers, have a thriving industry of successful independent escorts who have the security of knowing that they have rights & are protected. Failing to pay a sex worker in most states in Australia (QLD being the backward outcast state in the country) will result in SA by deceltion charges, which is prosecuted regularly & results in an average custodial sentence on a first offence of two years.
