@@russthompson9080 Which show? An idiot abroad season 1-3, and the moaning of life are loosely scripted and high level of production. So definitely scripted, checked and approved before final production by standards and practices, etc. And I agree it’s not all improv by any means. But Karl is a real person, a bit smarter than they put on but definitely very ignorant about lots of things. And I’m sure he knows how funny he is. But his personality is real, the way he reacts to things and the bizarre opinions he forms are real. Even though they play them up for the show. His interactions with people are real and generally unscripted. It would be impossible to fully script that from a production standpoint. But he had a producer with him close at hand all throughout the series guiding the interactions and activities for sure. It wouldn’t matter to what extent it was scripted or not, because that’s how all good content is produced. It’s all about the end product which is a good laugh and a funny insight into the world through Karl’s eyes. I also liked their podcast “The Ricky Gervais Show.” Which is essentially just Ricky being the cheeky smug narcissist that he is, Karl doing his bit, and Steve being sort of the middle man. Really funny chemistry. And Ricky is sort of playing a devils advocate narcissistic character of himself the same way Karl plays up certain things but it’s all for the comedy. And also loosely scripted. I figured that most people understand how that works in the U.K. too.

@@ingrid_inthesky I find it quite interesting to see to see other nationalities react to it. Mainly there's a lot of British words, phrases/ sayings and references which I'm intrigued to see if others know them. I guess as long as you know what bollocks and tea are you can get what's going on 😂
@ingrid_inthesky

@@liamcraddock9539 Oh it's way more than bollocks haha you guys say things you don't realize American's don't know. I remember hearing trainers and not knowing what it was. "Sort" was used in many ways. I started seeing an older English man at 23 and he told me off and at the end, he said "right, sorted." Lmao, I was like "um..." but he had already walked away. Anyway, I always understood the humor but what you explain is another thing cause we can skip that and still get the joke but idioms and phrases are definitely different. I do understand them now having dated a very English man😃
@krissuyx
@krissuyx 3 жыл бұрын
@@ingrid_inthesky The phrases that americans normally get confused by tend to be very self explanitory to me. "Sorted" is one of them. "Mozzy bites" is another. "Having a kip", "taking the piss" and so on. I'm not a native english speaker but I caught on immediately to the meanings thanks to the context they were used in.

When I Visited the U.S.S.R. In the mid ‘80’s, we rode the finest train in the Soviet Union, the Red Star Express. It was nice, but it smelled like urine in most of it. The toilets used no water. You went potty, hit a lever, and a trap door opened underneath the train, splattering the contents all over the tracks beneath. Fascinating!

Then you jump in a cold barrel or river (or they use a shower). when I was doing banya I was like "WATER PLEASE" to the russians haha they were like "yeah okay here", I dunno how they managed to stand around beating someone with leaves without dying but yeah it's just leaves, it doesn't hurt
