@@russthompson9080 Which show? An idiot abroad season 1-3, and the moaning of life are loosely scripted and high level of production. So definitely scripted, checked and approved before final production by standards and practices, etc. And I agree it’s not all improv by any means. But Karl is a real person, a bit smarter than they put on but definitely very ignorant about lots of things. And I’m sure he knows how funny he is. But his personality is real, the way he reacts to things and the bizarre opinions he forms are real. Even though they play them up for the show. His interactions with people are real and generally unscripted. It would be impossible to fully script that from a production standpoint. But he had a producer with him close at hand all throughout the series guiding the interactions and activities for sure. It wouldn’t matter to what extent it was scripted or not, because that’s how all good content is produced. It’s all about the end product which is a good laugh and a funny insight into the world through Karl’s eyes. I also liked their podcast “The Ricky Gervais Show.” Which is essentially just Ricky being the cheeky smug narcissist that he is, Karl doing his bit, and Steve being sort of the middle man. Really funny chemistry. And Ricky is sort of playing a devils advocate narcissistic character of himself the same way Karl plays up certain things but it’s all for the comedy. And also loosely scripted. I figured that most people understand how that works in the U.K. too.

7:40 banya doesn't hurt. the thing is, the sauna is set so hot (over 210 fahrenheit sometimes) that even moving just slightly is painful. the leaves are covered in cold water so they take away the heat from you, it feels great, it's like relief. Then you jump in a cold barrel or river (or they use a shower). when I was doing banya I was like "WATER PLEASE" to the russians haha they were like "yeah okay here", I dunno how they managed to stand around beating someone with leaves without dying but yeah it's just leaves, it doesn't hurt
