101chickendance Maksym Hoyda There is a famous interview when Putin was in Sweden. A journalist asked him together with the Swedish prime minister and they shouted at him saying he wasnt one of the allowed journalsits! 101chickendance Your kidding right? Virtually all countries do that with journalists. If you interview their leader you are usually given the questions, or the questions are previously read over. Just in this instance they recorded it and kept it in.

***** No but it is bombing other cities while refusing to acknowledge it. Mariupol was bombed - 28 dead. It was the nazis fault they said. Debaltseve - First sign the ceasefire deal - then break it and claim moral issues to justify the ceasefire violation. Blame it on Ukraine, sorry, on the nazis. Kramatorsk - What 10 killed in a single attack? And all the terrorist bombing that have been taking place? It is fucking idiotic to believe that the "separatists" haven't killed civilians.

***** Oh sure!! Mariupol for instance are being opressed and was attacking the "separatists" that we're supposed to observe a ceasefire. And Kramatorsk, which is what, 30 km from the "frontline" and was in no way launching rockets or anything (it was a staging area, not an attacking one). And Debaltseve!!! Yes, it is Ukraine's fault that the "separatists" decided to break the international agreement they had just signed!!! The "separatists" are innocent in every possible way! Regardless of commiting the same crimes they accuse UA of doing!!!!! Heil Putin!

If they did win, they would literally kill half of the Slavic population of Europe in just some years. They did not make that, because they were defeat by the red army. He died in a carbombing back in 2018. The VICE reports are most often clearly biased toward West, but when you add them to other raw videos from back then, the picture is really inhumane. Some oligarchs with personal armies backed by nations playing people to take arms. Also what the series doesn't show is the radicalization that Ukraine saw from 2014 onwards. They don't show you the *forced military draft* enacted right after the coup by the Interim Pro-Maidan Government, and the soldiers sent as cannon fodders (either you go east to fight, or you got 5 to 8 years of prison) to take out opposition members of the anti-maidan from 2014 (with mothers from West-Ukraine protesting in recruitment centers) and shelling and bombing in UA territory. And the other side (DPR, LNR), these opposition members, trying to save their power using people suffering from these tragedies. A bunch of criminals used the Coup as a way to secure some power, unlishing private mercenaries to kill oppositions, and the situation spiraling out of control to a full scale civil war. Poor people are now victims of not only death, but also information, as their deaths are used by the different sides to recruit for more deaths.

As usual brilliant interview of Simon Ostrovsky VICE News with Aleksandr Zakharchenko, the leader of the breakaway Donetsk People’s Republic. Really depressing perspectives for people who end up under DPR control. Because for my understanding DPR does not offer any regional development program, which should employ people and generate TAX's for the region. I am afraid it will be future similar to Palestine and people will live in the region on donations from Russia. I doubt it would be possible to stabilize the region, simply because as long they are fighting, they don't have to report about regional development program in numbers, the second region will become stable people will begin comparing DPR conditions and Ukraine. Simon in interview already ask that question and Aleksandr replied with standard DPR rhetorics: Ukraine is nazis, we should not support it and we may suffer on our way to prosperity, however he have not described, how he or anyone in DPR would achieve prosperity level after separation from Ukraine.

Im American veteran. I personally believe every Oblast, State, Province, etc in all countries should have the fundamental right to unilaterally declare independence as long as the referendum is universal sufferage and is overseen by UN and OSCE observers to maintain international credibility of the vote. This United Nations principle of self determination has been the core reason I support DPR and LPR separatists. I see no difference between them fighting for their independence when us Americans fought for our independence from UK. Russia helping DPR and LPR is just like France helping our 13 colonies. Obviously Russia and France have/had their own interests to why they got involved. But the principle of choosing your own future still remains. I support self determination in Donbas and Crimea. But I support it in Kosovo and Taiwan also. Its consistent. If Donbas and Crimea must return to Ukraine. Kosovo must return to Serbia under the same consistent standard.

Self determination in Donbas which is in Russias interest but also self determination in Chechnya and that's not in Russian interest. It's the standard of letting local people choose their own government and country regardless of how I think thet should vote. If Putin stopped his forces in Donbas instead of pushing into Ukraine that's controlled by Ukrainian government. I would've looked at him more positive. But because he continued to push into Ukraine proper I label him more like our American President Polk.

because the DNR and LNR are "feudal warlord states with a Stalinist pension for authoritarianism", quoting Igor Girkin who is a former FSB colonel and de facto mastermind behind the separatist republics. Rewatch the series from the start. Realize that you watched the Anschluss in the 21st century, and then rethink everything you wrote here. Ukraine has had it's problems, but Putin's regime has gone full fascism.

Simon does a great job. He works in one of the world's hairiest shitholes going from one side to the other asking tough questions. I hugely admire what he does and promote it here in Moscow. It's a really good piece of journalism. I haven't turned the TV on for years. Neither do I watch Ukrainian TV channels. So VICE helps enormously with their insight into what's really going on there. I had some friends over in Dontesk but recently they moved to Kiev so I don't have first hand info from them any more. And yeah - Zakharchenko looks dumb. Apparently he just learnt a bunch of cliches and keeps repeating them to everybody. Great thanks to Simon and to VICE. If you ever film something in Moscow - don't hesitate to contact me, I will be glad to help in any way possible. Keep up the good work.

Not " Spear "- " Separ " and he " stole " the idea from yours truly. There is a restaurant in L'viv called " Kryiivka "- it's designed like an underground bunker where the UPA garbage used to hide from the NKVD. The idea is very original and entertaining- unless your loved ones were tortured and killed by the UPA that is. You're not gonna be allowed in unless you say their " Slava Ykraine- Geroyam Slava " slogan, the waitstaff carries fake guns, you're not allowed to speak Russian- if you do, you're gonna be thrown into jail and the only way out is to sing something in Ukrainian. At that time the Loyalists called the Rebels " kolorady "- because of the Ribbon of St. George that we used to wear. So my cafe was gonna be called " Cafe Kolorad ", you're not gonna be allowed in without the Ribbon of St. George, the menu would have been " appropriate ", etc. I forgot how I wanted to dress the waitstaff. But my " horrible " brother figure stole my idea and decided to name it " Separ " instead.

Thanks for posting this interesting & informative interview. As former citizen of Odessa now living in Australia for many years, I have been following developments in Ukraine since late 2013. I get the impression that Zakharchenko is a clever & intelligent military / political leader around whom the majority of people in Donetsk / Donbass have gathered. The Minsk II agreements should have seen the end of military confrontations & the start of serious negotiations in regard to full autonomy for this region. The general situation in western Ukraine & eastern Ukraine is quite bad....I don't see any way out of this bloody mess, except for the so called government in Kiev to finally allow the people of this region to govern themselves with NO political or military interference from Kiev or other paramilitary brigades...

Monsignor Just got the definition of Cuckold. I don't think you meant to call me that... Also I support Donbass and the Russian Federation for one major reason. The coup in Ukraine at this time last year. Its factual that the US was directly involved in at least producing propaganda that helped make the west support Euromaidan. I can provide proof of this if needed. Along with that, it has been said by Ukraine AND Russia there are no regular Russian troops fighting in Ukraine. The only Russian officials are there with Ukrainian officials due to the fact Ukraine refuses to negotiate with the people of Donetsk and Luhansk. But Canada, Germany, and the United States all have soldiers helping train Ukrainian troops in Kiev and to the east. Or have offered some type of military aid. I respect Russia for offering humanatarian aid and limited military aid but still being a major support for Donetsk and Luhansk. I understand no side is perfect, and both tell giant lies. But when looking directly at the evidence I can't help but side with Donbass.

I saw a comment of a Russian Roulette viewer on another video, that he has watched over 15 episodes and still does not understand why they are fighting. Well, that's clearly because Simon of Vice is so heavily biased and doesn't educate his viewers in any way. He just repeats CIA and far right propaganda 1 to 1 while still trying to appeal to his hipster audience. And he obviously succeeded. People watching these "dispatches" know less and less facts about the conflict with every episode. And I guess that this is the very goal of this endeavor.

It seems a bit hypocritical to me that the reason the separatists started this fight was how they were treated in the past. And that they wanted to be closer to Russia. But Yanukovych was the President for the last 4 years prior to the civil unrest that rocked the entire country. He was removed thru protests by the people of Ukraine to start anew. But the separatists could not wait for change and now want the support of the very country that Yanukovych was propped up by (Russia). Also, the separatists call Kiev a fascist regime. Which is also inconsistent with the basic definition of what fascism truly is. In fact, Russia, and the complete strong armed tactics of the Russian media machine (lack of freedom of speech) and the military and the propaganda that claims patriotism by the Putin regime actually fits more accurately the definition of Fascism. This effort by the people of eastern Ukraine only proves that with the right message, anyone can be brainwashed into believing they are fighting tyranny. Every time I see a comment regarding Kiev being fascist only makes the commentator looked stupid and naive.

Nice editing in the intro. You make it look like Zakharchenko wasn't going to answer, but being the man he is, he's not going to avoid this question and brings up a great point. If single man are there fighting for freedom of Donbass, it doesn't matter where they are from, we shouldn't automatically assume, their homecountry sent them. All in all, Zakharchenko is a great person and he's being ignored by Kiev so far eventhough he wants peace for the people of Donbass. It's funny how this isn't so called propaganda, while Graham Phillips is considered to be a russian backed propagandist.

The ignorant comments here are baffling. Allow me to clarify what he said from a perspective of an American with Eastern Ukraine descent. 1. In terms of no respect, he is a busy man fighting a war in a territory that's constantly being bombed. What do you want him to smile 24/7 and give optimistic and gracious gestures to every single interviewer? Give it a break if Obama was smiling in regards to a fucking terrorist attack against Americans you'd all throw a bitch fit. 2. In terms of the USSR comment. He isn't saying "We should all be communist and be run under the KGB etc." He's saying he wants a strong powerful nation that the USSR was and a super power. To the extent that foreign powers would be incapable of influencing internal conflicts "Maidan+Orange Revolution". Many Russians and Eastern Ukrainians miss the Soviet Union because of it's cultural aspects, not because of the dark history with Stalin and gulags. Idiots. 3. It's amazing how if America supports anti-government rebels, its justified through "democratic intentions" and "freedom", when Russia does it's considered an invasion. You fucks need to stop being ignorant and learn to take information from a perspective outside "American Eyes". You learn this shit in your colleges, use this knowledge, stop taking in single information sources like CNN, FOX, VICE or even RT. Look at personal primary sources, people who are having their children and family members killed as a result of artillery shell bombings etc. 4. When you all supported ISIS fucks in Syria Russians didnt go on your news comment sections and begin hate comments, now you guys are eating your words, helped create the #1 deadliest and most dangerous fucking group of terrorists that are taking territories in multiple nations and killing other muslims, Americans, Russians, Christians etc and you all throw a blind eye. TL;DR. Stop being ignorant assholes. -A Ukrainian+American who isn't an ignorant cunt playing monkey see monkey say.
