The way that Pierre communicates is unique, but it is also fantastic. Think about this for a second… As mentioned in this video, he didn’t speak until he was 7 years old. Now he has developed a way to share his passions and interests, like New Kids on the Block! It is so important when a child reaches out for connection to make it a positive experience. If I instantly tried to make Pierre communicate in more “societally accepted” way before accepting and enjoying his current state of communication, he would only feel resentful for the lack of love and safety. For someone to reach their full potential, they must first feel safe, secure, and appreciated.

I might be hearing things, but at 10:05, Pierre clearly vocalizes one of the most famous guitar riffs by Jimi Hendrix from the song "voodoo child". He heard and saw Chris imitate a guitar and referenced to it, this never would've happened if Chris didn't "open the floor" for judgment-free/ free form communication. That blew me away! What a special kid, indeed. Kudos to Chris and Pierre! You two were having fun!

"Neurodivergent children deserve friendship and the opportunity to be included." That's absolutely right! It might take a little bit longer to understand them and communicate effectively, but its worth the effort and time. Often, they see the world in a way we don't, and letting yourself see the world through their eyes can change your life for the better, and lets them know they're valuable, important, and loved!

Watching this video, I am reminded... I have been watching your channel since I was a teenager. I am now a caseworker who works with children with disabilities.
