For those having trouble with battery drain or shifting read this: I have now investigated the issue by stripping the rear derailleur and have found the transparent seal around the charging port was pinched and also the red seal was pinched and not seated. I clean both sides of the circuit board up with contact cleaner and a cotton bud and then used mobile phone PU sealant on the surfaces the seals seat on. All seems good now. There was evidence of condensation in the derailleur which I guess was causing corrosion.

Hey Luke, appreciate all the extra work you do to get these groupsets working. Truthfully, I as an average cyclist would probably not have that knowledge to even try to start troubleshooting the electronic groupsets. I was really hoping the eRX groupset would be the groupset I was going to buy for my future bike build, but have heard mum about any changes or fixes to the issue and still see the same issues flying around in comments and threads. Unfortunately I think L TWOO maybe lacks the customer service and some technical and QC aspects to be a market disruptor at the moment in electronic groupsets. The eRX groupset worries me as I have not found any official verbiage from them addressing the issues to the public and have not seen any fixes, not sure if they gave up on that groupset or what is going on.

The first standard any electronic cycling product should include is IP67 water resistance, which is specified as able to withstand a waterhose, jet sprays, and can sustain momentary water immersion in depths of 15cm to 1M up to 30 minutes maximum. Without that it is basically just junk as any flooded road or heavey downpour, or just washing it, will lead to that scenario. Unless it can pass that standard, it isn't going to be worth buying for any price unfortunately. It is unfortunately, because an electronic groupset at this price point would be great, I just replaced the cables on my 105 group set and to get high quality sealed ones it was £50, do that a few times or get a shop to do it, and suddenly this looks like a bargin!

Did you know that when Campy had finalized testing of their first electronic groupset & was set to bring to market, an unexpected incident ruined their plans. Movistar team was testing their groupset & after one of the final races, the mechanic had the team car cleaned at a car wash with the bikes on the roof. When they got back to HQ, they found that all the bikes on the roof didn't work. All the groupsets had died. Campy did an investigation & it resulted in them pushing back their introduction date by almost 2 yrs. Getting things done right is easier said & harder to accomplish. Just look at Shimano's crankset debacle.

I think they might need to adjust their pricing and design for 1x. Most riders would likely choose a dedicated 1x system, so the redundancy is probably not an issue. The same price as the road double setup is a bit much. Drop the front derailleur and the left lever wireless shifting, knock 100 off the price and they’ll move piles more!

Another great video Luke! You do awesome work with all your reviews. It's a shame that L-TWOO can't seem to get these issues worked out with their electronic groupsets. I'm very much electronic groupset CURIOUS and would love to have electronic shifting, but the big 3 are simply out of my budget at this point, so having an option like this WOULD be amazing, but I can't take a chance of failures like this even at a lower price point.

I admire your investigative and troubleshooting knack for finding root causes of all your gear malfunctions. As for ltwoo, I think they are really close to beat shimano and sram. Their pace of development and churning out new gear, not only electronic, is astonishing. They recently released a new line of mtb groupsets designated with 'T'. As for the 50T cassette, maybe a longer and most likely a derailleur extender would make the shifting to the 1st gear crisppier. I've got ltwoo's AX mtb groupset and it's derailleur handles a 46t cassette but with the hanger extender, it handles a 50T and this is my setup indeed.🥖🥖🥖

I just think for 750 quid, even if you didnt have the waterproofing issue, just isnt that good value. A shimano 105 di2 groupset is availble for 950 quid from alot of places, and it comes with a cassette, chain, discs and chainset. You also get a warranty and the fact that waterproofing just isnt an issue, i havent ever thought about worrying about water with any of my di2 bikes across ultgera 12 and last 11spd ever. Its just not a thing, you can have the derailler submerged in water and it still works. These need to be 750 max, for an entire groupset, and work absolutely flawlessly, with a proper warranty and not just randomely releasing new versions depending on when you purchase it, to ever disrupt the SRAM/SHIMANO dynasty

given that the left hand shifter is a fully functional mechanism, I would wonder if it can in fact function as a control lever for a compatible FD, say for instance, their ERX FD. Just curious in case that may have crossed your mind as well.
@qwertyazerty21378 ай бұрын
I just installed my GR9 hydraulic groupset and I am disappointed. The shifting resistance is appauling. I used ltwoo's supplied cable and a jagwire housing. The cable looks good quality. Copper-colored so maybe it's coated with something. It's definitely polished and smooth so maybe it's the cheap housing or the fact that I routed it on the front side of the handlebar where the horizontal bent is bigger forcing the housing to bent more. The levers have another groove to route the housing on the back side of the handle bar for a less bent of the housing so I must give it a try. But the worst thing is that the left lever bleed port screw is tightened so hard that it won't budge. I stripped and rounded its head trying to loosen it and now it's stuck forever. Suprisingly I was able to bleed the system using just one syringe plugged into the caliper so from top to bottom. But anyway I am waiting for the seller's response and his solution becasue this lever qualifies for a replacement. Other drawbacks: 1. Rubber of the hoods is slippery although it has a matte feel to it and has a texture. Shimano's hoods are way more grippy. 2. To save manufacturing costs, for the left lever they use a lever from a 2x groupset (maybe rx) because it has guiding groves for the shifter housing under the hood. They simply just don't put the cable ratchet pulley and shifitng paddle and trigger. That's ok but without this ratchert, there's a gaping hole underneath the lever where all the gunk and dust may build up. Also while on the hoods having your index and middle fimgers wrapped around the hood, you can feel that hole and it's edges under the fingers tips which is uncomfortable. Especially when you grasp firmly while pedalling hard out of the saddle uphill. How much would it cost them to desing a simple plate cover with an i.e. elastic latch similar to those of battery compartments in tv remote controllers? 3. Downshift trigger is in awkward position. Its position and overall lever shape is heavily inspired on Campagnolo Ekar levers which apparently have the same problem which Paul from Mapdec Cycles reported in one of his reels. On the hoods to reach it you have to sort of lift your hand and twist it inwards. also when pressing down the trigger, if you have your fingers wrapped underneath the lever, they are right under the trigger and obstruct its downward travel so you also have to move them away. I would expect the trigger to be place more towards the front of the lever just like it is in ltwoo's mechanical road levers like r9, r7, r5... Also, it offers up to 3-4 downshift with single push. I think this is unnecessary, because it causes excessive unwanted downshifts. It could be justified in the road RX groupset in finish line sprint situations, but this is a gravel groupset so I think it's pointless and useless. On the plus side, the trigger is ergonomic and right were you'd look for it while on the drops. 4. Lever instllation is troublesome. The bolt clamp is located in the center of the lever body so the vertical part with the master cylinder obstructs access to it to an extent. Also, the bolt is very hard to reach becuse the rubber of the hood is very tight and does not peel off enough to expose the bolt. You need to have an extended hex wrench with a ball-head end and prefferably with an attachable handle. With a standard-sized wrench it will be very hard to reach the bolt. For comparison, in Shimano levers the bolt is on the outer side of the lever body and it only takes to slide the wrench under the hood to reach it. 5. The rear derailleur isa bit too big. I've installed it on an Accent Furious Pro frame and noticed that if I loosen the b-tention screw too much, the front of the derailleur where the clutch is located touches the chainstay and wedges on it preventing normal operation. Also, the part of the derailleur with this clutch is visibally made out of some kind of composite material, probably based on nylon. It's definitely not metal. The rest of the parts, like the pantograph, pulley cage are indeed metal. Unless you buy a version with a carbon pulley cage of course. Pros: 1. Overall quality is good. The logo imprints are good. They are thick and have a nice sort of brushed aluminum texture. 2. The shape of the hoods and lever blades is ergonomic. They feel good under the fingers both on the hoods and on the drops. A this point I honestly do not recommend GR9. It's not worth the risk. I can recommend R5 because I have had these levers for two years now and they have not failed so far although the shifting resistance is also quite strong but not as strong as with these GR9 eventough I have the shifting cable routes along the front of the handlebar as well . The overall build quality and shifting is comparable to Shimano Sora..
