Important note: Hebrew (and a number of other smaller Middle Eastern languages) were not covered simply because the host does not speak these languages. These languages may be covered in a future session. Glossika Live will highlight one or two languages each month - sometimes as a beginner-oriented overview in English, sometimes as an intermediate-oriented presentation in the target language - and we hope to slowly work our way through as many languages as we can.

A good clip, but put the Saudi flag in the Arabic language. The Saudi dialect is now stronger than the Egyptian one, so much so that people on Twitter write in it. The Saudi dialect is closer to Classical because Classical emerged in the Arabian Peninsula. Read before you talk about languages.

@@Gemutte , Laz is extending to the Caucasus, through the south Caucasus, is very much the near east.... I think fairly, a middle east language overview, should include indeed Hebrew, one modern Aramaic, Mehri or Soqotri. Especially Hebrew and Aramaic have a very long mutual influence relationship with both Arabic Farsi and Kurdish, and with Turkish as well

Hi! This would have been a good caveat to mention at the beginning of the speech, in hindsight; Hebrew (and a number of other languages) weren't included simply because the host does not speak those languages. The goal of Glossika Live is to highlight a new language 1-2x per month - sometimes a beginner-oriented overview in English, sometimes an intermediate-oriented presentation in the target language - and we hope to slowly work our way through as many languages as we can. So Hebrew (and Aramaic, etc) may be featured in the future, and we might do another session that's, say, a general-interest topic discussed in Turkish.
