Qui-Gon definitely would've kept Anakin on the straight & narrow balancing him in both sides of the force while training him had he lived and been his rightful master.

I never understood this...like, was it imagined by Anakin? If it wasn’t, it must’ve happened sometime during The Phantom Menace...my guess is, after Qui-Gon brought Padmé to Coruscant but before they left Coruscant and returned to Naboo

It may have happened. but perhaps Qui Gon wasn't actually there. However, people don't always realize how close the connection between him and Anakin was. Anakin always considered Qui Gon to be his first and true Master.

It could have been a vision that Qui Gon gave Yoda, it could have resembled Anikin confronting his dark side which would become Vader at least that's what I think, It was Qui Gon's final warning to Yoda before the battle of Corosaunt
