I am a very healthy senior. Since retirement in December in 2004, and on the first day of January 2005, I made it a rule to walk, 18,000 ~ 20,000 steps everyday around my neighborhood for over 15 years but now it is difficult to keep that number of steps but 6,000 ~ 8,000 steps daily Out of curiosity, I attempted to calculate the distance (D) covered during those 10 (ten) year period. D = 18,000 steps/day x 0.75 m/step x 365 days/year x 1 km/1,000 m x 10 year = 49,275 km, i.e., corresponding to around the equator, ca 40,100 km. Masaru Mashiko, PE Basking Ridge, NJ USA
