Dreaming Light is the second single to be lifted from 2010 album, We're Here Because We're Here. Awarded Classic Rock's 'Prog Album of the Year' as well as a host of other accolades, the album was the band's first collection of new material band since the 2003 album, A Natural Disaster.
The bar for Weather Systems has been set pretty high with 2010's 'Were Here Because We're Here', but Daniel Cavanagh from the band is certain that the album will exceed these lofty expectations, 'it feels like we are at a creative peak right now, and this album reflects that. Everything from the production to the writing to the performances are a step up from our last album.' He continues, 'This is not background music for parties. The music is written to deeply move the listener, to uplift or take the listener to the coldest depths of the soul.'
The intertwining melodic structures, the profoundly beautiful and intensely powerful - yet simple - songs will transport the listener closer to the heart of life, that is to say, to the heart of themselves. It is also an album of polarity. The play of opposites; light and shade, birth and death, love and fear. The simple truths of life and loss, hope and strength and darker internal themes are all explored here.
The album was recorded in Liverpool, North Wales and Oslo, each place significant to Anathema past, present and future. The record was produced and mixed by 5 times Norwegian Grammy nominated Christer-André Cederberg (Animal Alpha, In the Woods...), who Daniel has described as 'a revelation. His calmness and brilliance has helped to bring about the greatest inter-band chemistry that Anathema have experienced together in their career.'
Their best ever work? 'Not yet' says Daniel, but he does believe that with Weather Systems they have surpassed previous glories; 'we are pleased and proud of the record and we feel that, alongside the best moments of WHBWH, this record contains our very best work so far in what is becoming a long career.'
Praise for Weather Systems;
'It is truly majestic, heavenly - Is it another masterpiece? Of course it is.'
TERRORIZER 5/5 (Album Of The Month)
'Anathema continue to make music that glows with meaning and a love for art's external powere to touch the soul. Still special, increasingly extraordinary; the band and this album will be cherished.'
CLASSIC ROCK PRESENTS PROG
'Anathema just might be England's most consistently brilliant rock band of the last 15 years, with Weather Systems serving as yet more, unmitigated proof.'
ZERO TOLERANCE
"Absolute world class"
METAL HAMMER (DEU)
"...just one word: WOW!"
CLASSIC ROCK (DEU) 9/10
"...unbelievable, one highlight after another..."

Suddenly... life has new meaning Suddenly... feeling is being And you shine inside And love stills my mind like the sunrise Dreaming light of the sunrise Suddenly... I don't have to be afraid Suddenly... All falls into place And you shine inside And love stills my mind like the sunrise Dreaming light of the sunrise Dreaming light And you shine inside And love stills my mind like the sunrise Dreaming light of the sunrise. I feel you but I don't really know you I dreamed of you from the moment I saw you And I've seen the sunrise in your eyes The sky... the sea... the light Live your dream beneath the northern horizon Be at peace, set your heart in flight again For light is truth... The light is you...

Still = steal
@unicornucopia1
@unicornucopia1 2 жыл бұрын
@@snissyid "steal" means to take something, and "still" has more than one usage, one usage of "still" is to be calm, quiet and/or motionless. As it's used in the song, love "stills" his mind like the sunrise - meaning it calms his mind. The sunrise doesn't "take" his mind, it calms his mind = it "stills" his mind. (Watching the sunrise has this calming/stilling effect on all of us, does it not?) The correct word is "still" :)

Anathema come from Liverpool the city that gave the world Beatles football goal nets the crossword the first passenger railway all brilliant concepts from a city that was known as the gateway to the empire its port, the river Mersey, fastest tidal river in the northern hemisphere after the St. Lawrence Canada, handling 70% of all the worlds shipping bringing in nationalities from all four corners of the globe swapping ideas. music critics argue rock n roll was conceived in USA but birthed in Liverpool. The city boasts the most artists in the world with number one hits memorial to this on Mathew St opposite the Cavern. The first music scene was known as The Merseybeat in the sixties followed by second Merseybeat in 1984, following local band Frankie Hollywood's Relax (charting at number one and again at number two behind their other hit anti-cold war tune Two Tribes of that year) when no less than 10 bands from Liverpool entered the UK top 40 The population in 1967 was 750,000 until the port's decline in 1980 when container ships slowed traffic to a trickle has the population in 2017 at 300,000

The Italians govern the language of music ("pianissimo", "staccato", etc.) The Russians were great storytellers through music (Mussorgsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, et al.) and the Germans have been brilliant dramaticists, (Wagner, et al.) and they totally owned the centuries. But it's the British in the 20th and 21st century who carry the torch of beauty now, since The Beatles. They have all four of the Great Four of Rock N Roll (The Beatles, The Who, The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin). And it's these guys here in Anathema that were one of the original pioneers of the Death-doom subgenre, but even they weren't content to rest on their laurels, they kept ascending to meet their ever-growing understanding of beauty.

On one hand we have this piece of music, so calm and so pure. It literally personifies the feeling of being a "human". On the other hand I'm reading the newspaper, the bloody war in Syria. It just boggles my mind to see how such a disparity can exist. If we all could just stop for a while and think. Listen to such music. Love what we've got, not care for what we've not; maybe this world could become a better place. One of the finest work from Anathema.

I rarely make a concrete connection between a song and a experience in Life. With this song I did: - in 1999 my cat Freja lay in her/ my. (...guess it was hers') chair, as so often before. Suddenly we looked into each others eyes and shared some kind of Energy, some kind of Connection that I feel, is best described through this song. I lost her years ago, but I steel feel that connection. Everytime I hear this song Everytime I see the Sun rise. I love her.

Oh how lovely.💙 Clearly you and Freya had a spiritual, mystical connection. It sounds like you both were mutually aware of it at that moment and you could feel the power of it. It almost sounds like she was your "Familiar." What a wonderful blessing to have had a connection like that with another being. Many people never do and, sadly, have no idea what that kind of connectedness is like. Thank you for sharing that. It moved me... I RELATE SO VERY MUCH that I want to share my own similar experience: When I was 18 years old I watched the birth of a litter of three kittens in our house, and in particular, the birth of one extremely special kitten, the runt of the litter. Runt started out as her nickname but it stuck and came to mean something so very beautiful. But Runt's other name was "Precious" because she was so extremely precious to me. Within a couple weeks after being born, it started becoming apparent that we had a soul-to-soul connection; eventually it revealed itself to be a powerful spiritual affinity. She and I belonged together, and so we remained together. She traveled with me to the store and anywhere else I had to go, as well as around the country with me. We were pretty much inseparable. Over and over again through the years, sometimes when we stared into each other's eyes there was that same energetic connection which you mentioned... an energy flowing between us, a powerful conscious linking of souls. A "oneness." Something so strong that it was almost physically palpable. Something that, for me, was life altering. I believe she and I are soulmates; that she purposely chose to incarnate as a cat so that she could be with me right away. Back then and still now, it feels like a miracle. Being the ONE AND ONLY person or thing I could not let go of or abandon, she saved my life several times during my tumultuous suicidal years. It was SHE who got me through the darkest nights whenever they came. She was so many things to me: my pet obviously, but also my daughter (my “first born”), my mother, my best friend, my playmate, my spiritual teacher, my student, my reason, my guide, my muse, my comfort, my shield and my lifeline... truly a soulmate. There was never a mis-step between us. Our connection was perceivable to others, also. Those who noticed it were surprised, as they never knew something like that could exist, yet they could see it there between us. The relationship we had, the bond we shared was beyond what words can ever convey. It didn't seem to fit into any known category. It still doesn't. It was the most remarkable thing I've ever witnessed, let alone experienced. Again, the word “miracle” comes to mind. When she was 18 years old she died in my arms; we had literally been together for HALF OF MY ENTIRE LIFE. It was a devastating loss. It happened on Valentine's Day of 2004, and so she is my eternal Valentine now. She was like my other half.... the loss was catastrophically heartbreaking and I lost it... I cried over her death, more accurately, I wailed, sobbed, had a total meltdown, I nearly had a nervous breakdown because of it (& possibly did). I mourned so hard, crying all day every day for nearly 2 weeks. I couldn't eat, I could barely sleep except for passing out from sheer exhaustion, I couldn't do much of anything but pour out the sorrow of my shattered heart. The pain and tears flooded my life for days on end. I couldn't imagine my life without her. After the first week and a half or so, I still cried multiple times a day - every single day for about two years; then for the next 5-6 years I still cried occasionally, but mainly just when I spoke of her (which was often). Even now I still get choked up sometimes and occasionally shed a few tears. But now more than the pain, it’s her Light which affects me - it shines in my heart and mind like a golden yellow sun... for she WAS truly amazing and those 18 years were so blessed by her presence. I honestly believe I would not have made it without her. I love her so very much - and she loved me just as much - and she still does, even after death. She was just as much a major PERSON in my life as my daughter, my husband, my parents. Some of the people in my life could sense the deep connection between us, and how unusual she was... like a human in animal form... or for the more enlightened people in my life, like a psychic human in animal form. For me it was like all of that, but usually it felt like something much more powerful and intense - like an Archangel in that little body. Not surprisingly, even a few cat-haters quickly became fond of her... and even became open to liking other cats. She really was simply awesome - spectacular in every single way, literally "perfect." I've had animals all of my life, both as a child and as an adult, and I loved/love every one of them. They're all special people and each relationship is unique and I truly do adore them as part of my family; and when they die I seem to mourn a bit more intensely than most people... but THIS girl was so far beyond special, beyond unique, beyond description. She's still a part of me... in such an indescribably deep and powerful way; that's why I believe we must be soulmates. It's been 16 years now since she shed her body, but I can still feel her spirit with me every moment that I think of her - it’s like she's sitting right next to me. I privately celebrate her life every day, and openly celebrate it every year on both her birthday and her death day. Everyone who knows me knows about my Precious Runt. She and I are forever linked, exquisitely intertwined; and I KNOW that when I die she'll be there waiting for me.... ✨🔥💖🌀✨

All sound components blend very nicely, and the sound as a whole emits a sort of airy, dreamlike quality, very detailed and textured with a fantastic mixing job by Stv Wilson. Particularly impressive is the way in which vocals coalesce with the music in both tone and melody, with very rich, inventive vocal harmonies often delivered by both Vincent Cavanagh and Lee Douglas in unison, or with Douglas complimenting Vincent with subtle accents. These are quite beautiful and floating, and always emotively charged. Almost all singing is in a higher register than before to keep consistency between expressive tone and the more uplifting and positive concept, but what is most remarkable about the vocalizations is the aspiration towards an eternal sense of harmony, removing the structural paradigm of individuality and replacing this common character of rock music expression with the personification of the song as an idea. Because of this harmonious quality, there are fewer instances of dynamic vocal changes, but what variety is maintained is only so for the good of the song as a representation of its concept, such as Vincent’s soft, tender singing in the heartfelt ballad “Dreaming Light”, his desperate mid-song pleadings in “Angels Walk Among Us”, and his distant echoed cries of “It’s never too late” in the final moments of “A Simple Mistake”. Lee Douglas, now an official member after serving as guest vocalist for the past decade, has surprisingly fewer stand-alone moments than before, but has never been more complimentary to the band’s sound. Her shining moment arrives in “Presence”, which follows “Angels Walk Among Us” as a brief spoken-word reflection on that song’s theme of making peace with mortality, in which Lee brings closure with the soothing refrain “Only you can heal your life” over an exquisite arrangement of strings, guitar, keyboard, bass and soft percussion. thank you Pagan Angel ...
