Like ... Wow! That is just so very cool! I'm always looking out for a grave with the Taylor surname, especially when they were down in Cork County - as my great- grandfather Samuel Taylor and his wife Kathleen were born there and all of their folks are buried there. But I've not seen a single Taylor gravestone anywhere in Ireland - perhaps as I think it's a more British surname. But my family were all Irish on the Taylor side, and all Scottish on the Cameron side. But they were probably scoundrels, one and all.. as several of my ancestors have been traced back to convicts in the early penal colonies in New South Wales, New Norfolk Island, and Port Arthur in Tasmania, having moved over to London as young men who were then transported on the ever-increasing number of Fleets bringing prisoners to the antipodes for what were very minor to quite serious crimes. I will just have to come to Ireland and discover the final resting places of my ancestors myself...i do love this channel & Serenity Sue ❤❤

Thank you for this. These people had a story. They saw their mother, their father, when they saw the light of day. They grew up, maybe learned a profession. The first kiss, the hobbies, the beautiful as well as sad moments. They were all there. Then they died. All certainly very different. One died perhaps very old gently in his sleep, the other very young in terrible pain and suffering. And then they were buried. The memories of these people were carried on by their loved ones until they too gradually passed away. And so they were forgotten. You have brought attention to them again! Without you, not so many people would have known that they were lying there. And for a brief moment, someone has again met their legacy. And they are less forgotten again.

Hi Guys! There are so many beautifully carved and inscribed grave stones in that old churchyard..just as you have found in others. I recall you pointing out the name Byrne on one or two of them in that “enchanted “ graveyard where the wind chimes, straw owl and crystals had been hung up. I’m just wondering if you have ever done a little bit of research to see who the local most sought after stone masons might have been back in the late 1700’s as they certainly took their time to do some wonderful work. That crucifixion with the Angel and cherub here was just beautiful, and look how crisp a lot of the writing still is on a lot of them! 👏🏻…it was just a thought I had, as it must have been quite competitive with several stone masons, as apposed to todays laser cutting speeding the job up. That was a lovely visit, but pretty scary….I don’t know about good luck with the bird Pooh ! I kept thinking you were both going to disappear falling through the roof of a crypt or vault! Think you need to take some long walking poles with you in future,to test the ground before walking on it! Be a real shame to lose you both that way!!?! Love and best wishes to you both! Godbless! Helen xx🙋‍♀️💕🌹🙏👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😇

The Halloran gravestone at around 6:45 reads the year 1787 .. and it's mind-boggling to equate that date to being one year before the First Fleet even landed at Sydney Harbour, Australia to begin building the very first settlement in this country - a convict colony. It's just amazing to me that, that grave has been right there under Irish skies, unmoving, in a graveyard that has changed very little, if at all, since before there was even a stirring of any kind of white civilisation in my country - before the first tent had even been pitched on this island continent.... I don't know why, but it's just fascinating to think of how old that grave really is from a comparative point of view! I love this channel - and Serenity Sue's, of course! I love the views of the lush Irish countryside, & the long history surrounding the cemeteries, churches, Abbeys & their fascinating graveyards. It's ALWAYS thought-provoking content - with excellent video quality. Love your work, guys - please keep it up! I never fail to give you both a 'tums up'!!

Out Of the many graveyard apps, I'm absolutely impressed with you're taking time, not just reading the inscriptions, but the magnificent carvings you've found!! I'm very impressed!! Also, the fact you will often look up the history of certain names, the history & often the lineage. I also follow Sue. Again, she amazes me throughly, researching many of these sites for it's history. Some have surprised me completely!! I'm from Canada & some of the graveyards I've visited do not compare! Not much "artwork/ relief sculptures at all.....just flat, with inscriptions only. Even the small one's are flat. I must say though, the inscriptions vary with the italics. I'm originally from Israel, Jewish graveyards are quite unique, although visitation to these are only open @ certain times as other's around the world! This is due too Jewish myth & mythology. I truly enjoy your & Sue's visitations, bar none, you're don't come close too other's on utube....you & Sue step up 100%, go into the detail's ie: finding unexpected vaults, very old coffins or what's left of them. Thanku so, so much for doing all u do but more importantly, both of u have great respect for each & every burial place (z'l) This I rarely see on other sites. Toda Rabba....(Hebrew for: Thankyou so very much) pS.....I'll be sharing Country wide (Spain, Isreal, South Africa, Poonha,India, Egypt, Canada etc....)

In Colorado, USA grave markers/ stones usally start in the mid 1800's most related to the gold rush and those who came thereafter. My people the Native Americans (from south west colorado) made graves but no stones markers prior to the Spanish inquisition before the gold rush of the 1800. The Catholic Church kept excellent records of births deaths baptisms etc... and some were buried in the church yards with simple markers.

Are the bodies deep down or sort of on the surface? So different from American burials. My family is from Ireland but I don't have much info but I always wanted to see if I have family there. Oh wow the Mrs. Egan for her daughter Sharon? Is beautiful. Do they still use the church? I have so many questions. Listen to the crows! Pretty soon all the carved markings will be faded. Its so quiet. Do people live nearby? We think our name was Schmidt and was changed to Smith at Ellis Island in New York. Immigration

Such a lovely church and graveyard it looks very peaceful there apart from the squawking birds.People back in the day died a lot younger than now and I think that's why we are seeing more cases of Alzheimer's now than back then.A lovely day for a stroll .This makes me think of our own mortality and we end up as nothing only a handful of bones. Cheers GV .😊 ☺️

Sir the religious significance of the tombstones such as the Angel with the trumpet has to do with the resurrection , the trumpet will sound and all those buried will come back to life , also the scales of justice mean everyone will be judged . It looks as if the same person carved a lot of the stones in this cemetery

That porcelain cross was so pretty! ❤ I believe the Kennedys were a small to medium-ish sized clan in Ireland, maybe why they could afford the beautiful monument. I found this thru research into my family tree. Do you know where Shankill Parish, Blallyblough, Armagh, Ireland is? This is most likely a very old name as this is where my 6th great grandfather is buried. I cannot find any other info before him. Any info would be greatly appreciated 😊. Thank you for your content. ❤

You would probably need the name of the cemetery or graveyard to find grave. Also try find a grave on the Web is great for finding grave information. Hope this helps

@@GraveVisitations yes, I’m unable to go that route as I don’t know his name. I’m stuck. Last name is Thompson so I looked up all variations including Macthomas and Mcthomas in Ireland and Scotland in ancestry. Meh, I’ll get a break somewhere. Thank you ✌️❤️

The vault there. All the bones are scattered around. The coffins must have decayed a long time ago. The stones and cement in the vault decayed too. The weather exposure got to the coffins.
