I LOVED that Carrie lied about having COVID! She is a messy queen, and at some point, SJP and MPK tried to turn her into a relatable, blameless angel, which makes her a bore! Carrie cheated on Aidan and lied to him about it, and to her friends, and lied or fudged the truth plenty in the original season. This was a return to form!

We’ve all don’t things we regret, or have messy moments, hurt people we care about, called in sick, or was the asshole in a situation. People today want every character to be all perfect and always informed, or to be evil.

I definitely agree with the direction in this episode. The MILF part gave me the ick but Carrie facing her grievances was a good plot. I love Seema more and more. Che is not kind to Miranda. I like that Miranda let her know she has to be there for Brady.

I don’t understand how anyone can defend or enjoy the school scenes. Like one commenter said - how would it be accepted for a teenaged girl to be lusting after the dads, and them to be excited and proud about it? Terrible writing and plot line.

Yeah it bugs me too. A lot of people are saying it's not a big deal and it's not that deep, but if a group of 50+ men were checking out a 15 year old girl, people would be outraged. Predatory behavior goes both ways

I kinda have gotten the impression that Lisette is an archetype of a younger Carrie? Idk. But for real, a Bvlgari event didn't have top notch security?! That moment felt not grounded in reality at all. I think it was supposed to ~sorta~ be like when Carrie was robbed of her Fendi purse, but...like, the dude legit just pocketed it and posed no real threat.

I appreciate the political incorrectness (and the MILF list plot just a tiny bit) . But the “H stands for hot” line appears disturbing to me. It’s natural to think that way, but it’s inappropriate to speak it out loud. Imagine a bunch of dads gathering around and saying that about a young girl 🤨?

I loved your take on this episode being around loss / the fear of losing something loved. Not only because I missed the SATC format of the episodes having a background common theme, but also because it made it made sense why were there TWO robbing scenes. I still feel it was a bit much, but now at least there's seems to be a reason behind it. As for the teenage boy scene, it made me reeeeeally uncomfortable. I love how the original show wasn't politically correct, but they went too far. I'd be okay if it was a college student - still significantly younger then the moms, but gosh, not as young as their own kids... But it didn't spoil the episode, for me. I still find it the best one of the entire AJLT universe. (love your recaps, btw! You're basically the only one that criticizes without sounding just mean)

I enjoyed this episode, which was a relief after the first two episodes failed to impress me. As a secondary ed. teacher, I was pretty cracked up by the school scene; I thought it was harmless fun, even in its poor taste. I mean, we've all been saying we miss that in this show, right!? It sort of reminded me of the Friar Fuck episode -- you know what's happening is wrong, but you can't help but laugh at its stupidity. It's not as if any of the women actively approached him and tried to get his number or anything, so I wasn't all that bothered by the scene. Carrie's storyline in this episode was handled extremely well and felt true to Carrie and quite relatable; who wouldn't try to get out of reading something that takes them back to the worst moment of their life!? I really felt for her (I don't hate Carrie the way most other viewers do, anyway), and I can't say I would have handled the same situation much differently. I was cracked up by Miranda allowing a salesperson to talk her into getting an Android because no self-respecting iPhone user would ever do that (maybe I'm exaggerating), but I know from experience that those salespeople really push Androids, especially at Verizon (higher profit margins + you have to upgrade more often -- it's a winning situation for them). It was entertaining seeing her being confused about how to use it (they also lie and tell you Androids are easier to use than iPhones -- in whose experience? Certainly not mine), and I liked how they incorporated that into the storyline of her choosing Brady over Che. Also, can I just say that I thought Che's reaction to Miranda's son being potentially suicidal was extremely shitty? I want to see Miranda get away from them and go back to being, um... MIRANDA, because I feel like Che is bringing down the whole show, and I really don't like how Miranda is basically a different character now. Also, you are so right -- WHY DOES NO ONE EVER CALL THE POLICE IN THIS SHOW!? And why did security do NOTHING to stop the caterer from stealing Lisette's pieces? So confusing and infuriating. I'm also not sure I liked that there were two thefts in one episode because it felt too easy, but whatever. All that being said, I'm excited for next week's episode, and I hope the show continues to get better.

@@maryd7081 I believe her choosing her initials means she is choosing herself. She has been living this pretend life in California and finally realized it's not who she is or wants to be. I’m 45. I watched the OG show when it was on. It was fun and pretty hip for someone that’s still youthfully foolish. I rewatched the shows right before the new first season started and it was…ew. More of the men actually seemed more normal than the women. Aidan and Steve were wonderful despite their being dragged down by these women which were really more like bratty teenagers than women. Seriously, all but Samantha were prudes. Yes, even Carrie. This reboot, to me, screams of now grown women that have purposely surrounded themselves with friends that speak to their inner “edgy” child because they are mentally still 30, despite the fact that current 30 year olds are more emotionally intelligent than they are. This is a writing problem. They clearly tried the old formula but forget that the “glue” of funny hook-ups isn't a thing for these “women” anymore. Now it’s just sad. We all have friends like that and it’s not a good look after a certain age…after a certain point, they’re just running from something and they are self-destructing. The best part of this show was Samantha. Regardless of her at some times reckless lifestyle, she told them CONSTANTLY to grow up and kept them true to each other on a deeper level. She really did keep them all grounded, but that never meant that she was above being flawed as a person. That’s not really there in these new episodes, even with all of the new blood. The "soul" that they show is here is still painfully shallow. That concept of "they did it then, so..." isn't at all for me and it's not really conducive to growth. They are all sad sacks looking to shallow things to remain happily unhappy in their shallowness. That's so sad. This could be more, but they aren't even trying. As for the MILF scene, yea noooo. As a woman that grew up with grown men doing that to me, that's never funny. It's creepy and it has lasting effects. The "they did it then, so..." argument simply is never feasible and it isn't the way we progress. Everyone should consider this as bad and unfunny as it would be if the sexes were switched and a grown man/men were to do this to an underage girl. That DOES NOT fly in our society today, as it should be. We have to keep that same energy because it is the same thing. Anyway, eff this new series. Nope, I’m too grown for the drama of grown women pissed that they aren’t 30 anymore. I listen to these recaps and just LMAO.

Flirting with minors is beyond politically incorrect, it's never been okay. The old Sex and the City was politically incorrect in the sense they talked about enjoying consensual sex in a way never discussed prior, that is why the old show was loved. Not two middle-aged women having the hots for a highschooler.

I think the entire MILF storyline was made to be shocking cos let’s face it; that’s what gets people talking and eventually people to watch the show. I think it was kinda creepy but at the same time harmless filler, there are a lot of people who are horrified but in all honesty I think they are reading too much into it; it’s really not that deep. Love your recaps and I look forward to them every week 😘

Really loved this episode, definitely felt like the show was finding it's way again! I really enjoyed the MILF storyline too and how Charlotte and Lisa friendship worked around it. I was worried they'd fallout over who was ranked higher and am glad it didn't go in that direction. I don't think the 'hot student' bit was too bad, as they got told off and put in their place for it. Although I think they could've made it clearer that Charlotte and Lisa were appreciating/acknowledging that he was an attractive student rather than being aroused by him - which is what it perhaps came across as. The latter is definitely not okay.

Don't get me started on Charlotte's storyline lol oh and the scene with Carrie walking into her apartment with shopping bags lacked all the excitement we felt when we saw her do that on SATC. This was disgusting. 2. We were supposed to be rooting for Che, and she’s being a selfish brat about her show when Miranda FINALLY decides to be a mom and help her child. 3. I thought you were going to touch more on Miranda’s behavior and constant irrational choices. But she justifies it with whatever crisis she is experiencing. I understand her concern regarding Brady, but she knows how important that part was for Shae to play, how important that scene was in relation to the production and just out of respect for the production, it’s team and the spectators. I felt like if she was really concerned she would have not gone into the studio in the first place. Which leaves room for a better plot line, a less irritating and more realistic play of events Additionally! I felt like she was totally let off the hook. Yes she had good reason (I’m not disputing her wanting to be there for her son). BUT the world doesn’t revolve around her, so her deciding to take her phone into the studio (with the intension to) interrupt such a “huge production”, because her phone wasn’t even on vibrate! Then she didn’t even apologize for that??? And the next scene it’s like nothing happened? Needless to say I love the show, I just dislike Miranda’s character 🥴
