Bought a 35th anniversary core CU24 recently. I’d never even fancied a PRS before but this one just spoke to me. As a thing to play and look at it’s a revelation. All my other guitars now just seem a bit lifeless. The 24 is so easy to play and the pickups are full of rich harmonic overtones which on the edge of breakup are a total joy.

IMO it doesn't matter the price of the guitar, the only thing that matters is the feel you get from the guitar and the sound that the said guitar creates when you play it. With that said, the best guitar is the guitar with which you lose yourself when playing. When you play you just create music and you enjoy the sound whether it's clean, slightly distorted or heavily distorted. I found that guitar in Schecter Super Shredder Sun Valley PT-FR Sea Foam Green that I bought from Andertons store. Also the Fender Standard Telecaster is IMO an amazing guitar. Here you go! @grimreaper-qh2zn3 жыл бұрын
The point is that some guitars don't transmit the sustain even though the strings are still vibrating. It's the wood damping the vibrations. PRS (and other great Guitars) have better sustain because of the way the woods are dried out. Not only does it reduce the damping effect it effects crystallization. Basic physics my boy. Lots of other little things will effect how much damping effect there is on the vibrations.
@guitarocd99843 жыл бұрын
The only thing that makes a difference is a good Bridge. A good Bridge can keep the strings vibrating longer . And maybe the nut on open notes. I do not want to have the stupid wood argument.

It's cool but these type of guitars put me off even wanting to own a PRS in general. Seems like every few years they come out with an insanely priced (and I do mean insane) guitar and call it the best ever version you will ever see.. They don't justify their surcharge with limited numbers or wood they claim is 'the best'. Without the story the guitar is just another PRS to me.. At a certain point flamed maple is flamed maple, and all PRS over a few grand have it. A little unrelated, but some of my favorite Les Paul burst flamy tops are the ones on the 'plain-top' guitars that accidentally get flamy in certain angles. To each their own, but no one will ever be able to convince me a piece of maple Paul collected for 40 years is special because it's in Paul's collection. It's still just maple. If the guitar costs 5-10X what it should I would like it to be justified in production costs, it better take 5-10 times longer and cost you that much more to make it. I give Gibson and Fender do it to sure, but that's when they meticulously recreate exact (or close to) versions of original guitars, seems understandable that the guitars would cost a lot for them to re-create. PRS just makes another PRS and slaps whatever price he wants. Someone explain why a guitar limited to 85 and with wood from Paul's personal collection should be any better than a top of the line PRS. since Paul allegedly plays every single one and gives his seal of approval anyways... So essentially he is saying is every other one of his guitars he writes off is just ok, not bad, but nothing special.. Even though they cost quite a bit for an ok guitar, built by the same dudes that build these $20,000 guitars, using the same materials. PRS's marketing is more off-putting than cigarette package

Maybe on a separate channel as to avoid business conflict with your store. ;-)

@jackzango4273 жыл бұрын
Short answer: NO. It's robbery plain and simple except no one is putting a gun to your head to buy it. It's a friggin' piece of wood with metal strings and a couple of pickups. Turn on ANY recording and tell me which guitar is being played...you can't, why? because all guitars basically sound the same. Music is a sonic art so sonics should be the main reason you buy ANY instrument. If you have the money and want to throw it away because of someones name go ahead, but you could also feed a hungry child and save yourself a lot of cash. Rant complete.
@andyboyd3 жыл бұрын
For £13k, you could probably get a proper original vintage strat/les paul. I understand that the main thing that makes real vintage guitars different is the attention to detail and "uniqueness" that comes from being hand built by a single builder who really cared about doing a good job. However, there's also a premium to be paid for the history attached to a true vintage guitar like that. On the other hand, a guitar like this benefits from the advances in manufacturing and quality control techniques that have come over the years. It still has the attention to detail, since it's truly hand built, however I'm not sure that a guitar built by a master builder at PRS, who probably has a backlog of 18 months of normal custom built guitars to build can really give the same attention to a guitar like this that a master builder in the 50s or 60s who may have built a handful of guitars each year would have been able to give it. Then you have to consider that there will naturally be variation in the quality of hand built guitars. Every one is unique, and that's the point. Vintage guitars have the benefit that in the past 50 years, a guitar in this price bracket will have stood the test of time. It will have a story, and it will be one of the top 1% of the run of identical hand built guitars built that year. The fact it is still around means it was a very special specimen. In 50 years time, I have no doubt that the very best of these PRS 1985s will still be around, and priced at some extraordinary amount we can't even imagine. I would LOVE to know how the two ways of spending this kind of cash compare. On the one hand, you have modern manufacturing and QC techniques, still with the individual attention to detail of modern limited run guitars like this. On the other, there's the true vintage instrument that by its very survival has proven its quality. PRS probably isn't the brand to try it with, because they weren't around in the 60s, but it would be a really interesting video to see how a really good true 50s/60s vintage strat compared to a modern master built custom shop strat with a similar kind of budget, for example. I'll probably never spend £13k on a guitar, but I'd really love to see that comparison.

Captain's "criticism" of the price tag making it affordable to people who will only look at them is what makes think, PRS should put that much more effort into making the core and S2 models play and sustain like that so atleast more players, actual players can enjoy the thing which i available for 14k!!

I'd love a Paul's guitar model but I'm left handed and you can't get them unless you opt for a super high priced custom shop build. I'd even take the SE version but PRS won't release a left handed version in that either sadly. Beautiful instruments though

Οh God! I hate this colour... Is it only me? You'd think that 13000£ would get you something more unique....

One guitar brand I don't like at all. I had an artist pack cu24 from andertons around 18 years ago, back traded it for a Gibson Les Paul a month later. I then had a limited edition PRS se245, which I found to be better, but only after I flipped the neck magnet

why is the assumption that the difference between an expensive and a more affordable instrument must be the sound? the difference between an expensive car and a more economical car isn't the speed, that's limited by the speed limit in the same way your guitar is limited by your amp. the difference is in attention to detail, comfort and cosmetics

I'd be interested to know how it compares to your Paul's guitar Pete? Do you notice a significant difference?
